Manchester United eye Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl after failing to land Eric Dier and Nemanja Matic

United played very well during the most hectic months last season, just before turn of the year, whereby Carrick was deployed as the deepest lying midfielder. This in turn, freed Pogba from his shackles and was able to express himself better and made the team played better as well.

For me, would be an amazing acquisition, if it is true of course, as him and Carrick are pretty similar. At least, they play in the same position.

Here are some of the earlier responses from here:
Would be incredible if we did.

He would be great for United.

Best news of the summer if true. Carricks understundy.

The muppetry will be full blast now.

Yes please.

Would be excellent

ooohhh spiceyyyyy

There's literally nothing in the actual article. Like, actually nothing. I'd chalk this up to being nonsense flown around on a very weird night.

Can't get excited. Dortmund would tell us to do one.

On what fecking list is Weigl below Matic and Dier

The article clearly states that Weigl broke his ankle in May and will be out till mid-September, meaning United would hold-off on any move until January or next summer.

He's not leaving Dortmund this summer.

Well gosh darn it , we better make the most of Wiegl since we lost out on the EPL superstars that are Eric Dier and Nemanja Matic.

Nonsense article which most didn't even read. Doesn't say this Summer so this thread should be closed. Pointless speculation. As if we would leave this until January or the Summer when already in negotiations with Matic and Fabinho, and still plenty of time for Chelsea to sign Bakayoko.

Rubbish article. Weigl wouldn't suit the physical Premier League imo. Matic would be the best option all round.

Matt Lawton broke this news in the Lukaku story earlier about us considering Weigl as a Carrick replacement. Crafton probably thought I'll fill some column inches by headlining the story.

But I would love to see him here.

Weigl would be a proper muppet signing. Young, already very good, lots of upside. He'd fill a huge need for us as well.

Kagawa, Mkhi, mmmm...the only Dortmund player who will fit us is Aubemeyang...others will have no side effect.

This could well be the most unlikeliest rumour ever. Would of course love him here but it won't happen and probably never will.

Would be a great signing, but very unlikely methinks.

Don't understand the Matic hate on here is bizarre, very good strong player but can't at Chelsea wanting to sell him to a rival unless they have someone better and we are paying through the nose.

@Acquire Me called it a long time ago that we'd be looking at him. Maybe the journos have looked on the caf?
Yep. People gave him a lot of crap regarding Griezmann but Wiegl is far from the obvious choice. Perhaps he was right all along
