His sense of positioning is awful at right back, he ISNT a right back. Doesnt need a loan move as far as I am concerned, more his opportunities need to be at centre back or centre midfield, where he can excelAgree with the above, his awareness of his surroundings and positioning has to improve, he appears to not be aware of where opposition players are in relation to him at most times.
Sitting on a bench isn't going to improve that in the short term.
Quite possibly - I do think of all the younger players in the first team squad, he is the most likely to head out on a season long loan. If we pick the club right and he gets games like Pereira did, it should benefit him if that does turn out to the the case. Some players need a run in the team to establish themselves and can't turn it on instantly in the odd game. I can't see TFM getting a run like that, so maybe a loan is the best option.
He is not going to get those opportunities here as we are well stacked at CB and as young options go both Tuanzebe and Perreira are ahead of him at CM, different position in CM yes but its a numbers game and those two combined with the senior option leave very little space if any for him. He should also as a defensive player be a lot more aware of his surroundings at RB even if it is not his natural position it is a position he has played on numerous occasions in the reserves and youth team. Going out on loan to a Championship team with a good agreement in place to get him games should help him to sharpen up his defensive instincts which look very shaky at RB. A loan looks like its been the making of Andreas, hopefully it can do the same for Timothy. His sense of positioning is awful at right back, he ISNT a right back. Disagree. Some young players are shifted around and maybe with forwards you need that flexibility but overall it doesn't do them any good. I don't think moving TFM around is a deliberate attempt to educate. It's more a case of where can we get him a bit of game time.Part of a young players education is to play them in different roles. These friendlies are perfect opportunities.

Our youth coaches explicitly say they play players in different positions for education and so they have better understanding while moved back to their position. It is very good for a CB to have experience and understanding of fullback or midfield roles played around them. It is also where he can get game time but it is also good for development as many professional coaches believe so.Disagree. If he is not going to get those opportunities then yes a loan is a good option, but more the case he should be sold then. Is Perreira ahead of him though he has literally played one game and one preseason game in central midfield and been loaned out himself? He is not going to get those opportunities here as we are well stacked at CB and as young options go both Tuanzebe and Perreira are ahead of him at CM, different position in CM yes but its a numbers game and those two combined with the senior option leave very little space if any for him. This.
Its a line some coaches use when a player is being moved around for whatever reason. To me it always comes across as "hey this isn't ideal but let's search for a positive."Our youth coaches explicitly say they play players in different positions for education and so they have better understanding while moved back to their position. He isn't a fullback though and he needs game time. No more sitting around for a whole year playing about 300 minutes. You don't play a game for 3 months and you're thrown in no shit you're positioning is going to be off and you're going to look off pace. His positioning looks off at RB but it has rarely ever looked a problem at CB. He needs a loan to gain the experience and iron out inconsistencies and positioning which just training and playing once every 3 months is never going to do.
No it is an idea we use extensively through the academy and it of course extends into senior football on the same principle too. It is very beneficial to players to know how those around him think and position themselves and there is no better way to do that than play in that position himself. Its a line some coaches use when a player is being moved around for whatever reason. There are other coaches who like a player to have a set role and learn that inside out.
If TFM is going to be a midfielder that's where he should be getting his experience. That's got to be the priory over learning the right back role. So I'd get him loaned out this this year.
I agree with you about his ability, also at 19 years old and with some good reserve performances under his belt any decision to sell him at this point would be silly as he's got plenty going for him just not enough that he can command a spot in the first team in his favored CB/CMD position at this point, therefore a loan is a good compromise to help him grow as a footballer. If he is not going to get those opportunities then yes a loan is a good option, but more the case he should be sold then. In a way I agree with you though. Im not on the "he is an overhyped athlete" band wagon I keep seeing. I actually think he has huge potential but feel for him as I think he isnt going to get the opportunities, Perreira is in a similar situation too. PLaying him at right back though is plain wrong for me, he is good bombing forward but that is it. He is a very capable centre back though I think and I still feel cm could be his best position.
More like Scholesy, always has that one hilarious lunge every single match. A Brwning was more often than not legal. Our new.. Wes Brown.
Very good block earlier on in the half too. I didn't see the first game, but thought he was quite impressive tonight.Good performance today, a lot of overlaps, supporting movements receiving pass, and keep the ball well.
Yup, RB is his position.
I hope he goes out on loan to a PL or championship team and gets regular football as a RB. I think he could do well in that role but needs regular playing time to build up that consistency.Much improved performance today and probably the best he's ever played for the 1st team. Needs to show this consistently. He hasn't been anywhere near good enough in the chances he's gotten so far. Hoping he will continue to improve and show the talent he showed in the reserves
