"It's pre-season" probably.
Yeah, I think he is very aware the game has no real relevance but you cant tell me it wont run in his mind at all, that we are facing the team who have been trying for 4 years to sign him. Would be fantastic if we beat them.

The way that f-r went in on Herrera was totally needless. P-k doesn't know the meaning of friendly match!

Its probably precautionary. No need to be so pessimistic folks.

Second injury this pre-season, we have such little luck. Hopefully a precaution.

That Madrid youth who has no chance of breaking into their first team injures one of our most important players needlessly.

What is it with over eager pricks flying into tackles? There was that other cnut in the Real Salt Lake game that got Mata injured too.

He'll be fine, looks like a nasty knock. I'm sure the players have been told if they feel anything at all for longer than a second or two they should come straight off.

Go on McTominay lad.

Well, make that McTominay instead of Herrera, now. Hope he's just taken a knock and isn't actually injured.

This will be pretty important, if we win. It's only a friendly, but mentally what it will do for the players will be great.

Also, De Gea watching on thinking 'This is the team I could sign for'. I think it will do a bit to reassure him he is in the right place. Imagine what he would be thinking if it was a heavy loss.
I don't think players are so gullible that they'll decide a pre-season game is the indication of whether to go to Madrid or not. I think the back to back Champion's League victories matter a little bit more than some farce of a game in sweltering heat. Some of the analysis here is hilarious.

Not really? It's pre-season. It would be fantastic if we beat them in a competitive match.

Herrera problem is probably not dangerous. Just a bruise to his ribs it seems. He'll be fine in no time.

The Salt Lake game was a bit nasty, they weren't holding back in their challenges.

All the responses in this thread just says it all about how much we need another body in midfield, one injury to Poggers or Ander and we are royally fecked.

We used to call backups who did stuff like that in practice "Scout team heroes" - they typically ended up injured themselves
