How would you feel if Rooney smashed it at Everton?

It's going to be funny seeing Everton fans slowly come to the realisation that Rooney is complete shite. I expect they will have the same sort of arguments we had on here, where there will be a few fanatics claiming he's still got it.
That growing realisation that they've gone from Lukaku to this version Rooney.
Any romanticism of the absolute imminent world beater they last has probably already long changed to a very severe of "never go back" and "it's never as good second time round"

Roll on the move to Number 10, and then smuggling him out wide, to fairly soon after that "resting" him every few games to keep him "fresh"

Its strange. Koeman seems a decent manager yet if he goes with Rooney as his main forward for the season I'd be surprised to see them finish in the top 8.

Can only imagine these managers don't watch as many games of other teams as we'd imagine.
Even with the press massively dropping their amazement that he didn't start every game, it seems the through game myth he's still top quality is there, and Koeman bought into it.

I think Everton will do exceptionally well to even hold onto 7th this season.

If he did smash it at Everton, I would only be happy for him as well as English National team. Reads like a fairy tale though.

fair play to the Everton posters in that thread. Calling it as they see it, its like 3 years of Redcafe wrapped up after one game

Absolutely this. However, it cannot be overseen that he is not on the Level needed to win the big trophies anymore.
he isnt at his greatest level. his greatest level was maybe 20-25 rather than 25-30 like most players.. I hope for his sake that being back at his team he gets going again obviously not vs us. but for all the flack and all the shite he has took all his career from press from fans for country and club he deserves it. i know for a fact i am going to miss him and i know im not alone

He's just blocking the path for a lot of bright young talents at Everton, the likes of Davies, Calvert Lewin and Lookman would all make better use of Rooney's minutes.
It was a bizarre move. I really think Everton didn't watch him that closely over the last 2-3 years, or they would have seen what anyone could.

Davies is a better midfielder and Lookman probably almost as good a striker, and probably will be better in a year with age being on his side and Rooney declining.

Mourinho understood that at this stage, the only real value Rooney seems to provide is that he can score goals at an okay rate for a 10. So, if Everton only play him at home, in their easiest 13 games, give him another 5-10 stars when others are injured or rested and use him as a striker off the bench when they're chasing games, he can have a 7/10 season for them, but even though he's only 19, Lookman might well be able to fill that role.

A team like them would have been better off making a huge wages offer for a young player they could steal like Sancho and hoping they found the next 60M player they could get 3-4 great seasons from and sell.

Really is
Funny to see those who mock the doubters as if they're football wise. Its the exact same crap we had on here.

I'd be happy for him. He was great for us in the first 7 years.

Can't see him scoring more than 12/13 goals even with pens and FK's

Sad to see him struggle the other night, giving more fuel to the haters :(

Despite his obvious failngs, he's still very capable of hitting a match winning screamer from 20 yards ....might give him a bit respite from some of the crap on here when he does.

Yep.

It's funny reading posts over there from people who think all he needs is a decent run of games to build up his fitness and he'll be good again. We heard that plenty of times on here over the last 3 or 4 years. Deluded.

Nothing wrong with what he said really. Are you denying that there are some idiots on here?
There are idiots everywhere, but that's irrelevant. The bigger issue that has crept on to here is being unable to talk critically of our players without being labelled a hater with a personal agenda.

Think he will certainly score 8-10 goals if he keeps starting for them and plays the full 90. But it will adversely affect their overall play. West Brom can beat them to 7th this time if Rooney becomes undroppable.

I never agree with you but do here - Grand Old Team is laughably deluded at times.
Posts Ive read recently.

This must be how Man City fans felt in 2009/10.

Last night was a good result. This team came 3rd in the Slovakian League and would have beaten the likes of West Ham and Newcastle.

Everton please don't ever change.

A part of their reason for getting was probably for marketing. However, if he doesn't improve on the pitch, then I wonder how they'll handle that? Would it cause a problem between their board and Koeman?

Another one Ive just found.

In relation to someome being worried about the departure of Lukaku and him not being replaced.

The response was .

You may find our country's leading scorer may know where the net is.

What about Tevez?
Never really minded Tevez to be fair, he always seemed like he wanted to stay and wasn't given a fair crack of the whip in his last season. Obv wasn't that big a fan when he was at City but liked him at Juve.

Oh yeah I agree on that just pointing out that he didn't really get personal or anything.

I'll be surprised if Rooney scored more than 10 goals in the league, and I expect most of them to be penalties.

The chip was fecking ridiculous and he lost the ball at one stage due to his desperation to strike yet another shot from outside the box. He was utterly dreadful in both legs.
