Michael Owen scored 12 club hat-tricks in his career.
Harry Kane has half that total in the last nine months ffs.

I'm struggling to understand those who keeps saying he's not world class, he's overrated.. etc. They seem to say that because.... he's just English or what ? There's obsession of making each English player an inevitable flop.
I thinks it's due to most English players who appear to have any talent turn out to be quite dislikable or make a complete fool of themselves either on the pitch or with thier private life. Kane seems quite a bit different, he's focussed on his game and wants to perform to the best of his abilities.

Seems like he has a promising future. Just my amateur observations. One of these days he ll become a good if not great striker. Kinda reminds me of a young Welbeck.

Seventh English player to score a Champions League hat-trick (after Andy Cole, Newell, Owen, Rooney, Shearer, Welbeck).

Kane took 67 minutes. Newell took 9. He's a way to go yet.

Kane looks and sounds like a 9 year old boy asked a fair ground mystic-machine, to be a grown up Spurs striker quickly and his wish was granted.
Superb lad.

For me this guy is hands down the best striker in the bpl. Very clinical, so good with both feet and aerially. I feel players like him and Rashford are the ones that can make it for England because there not born very talented but are very hard working, I know Bale is Welsh but he is another example of where hard work can get you.

If Spurs dont win much and he leaves I do really wonder where he will go, out of all prem teams I could have seen him coming to Utd but not no that we have Lukaku, I reckon it could be Real.

I'd love to see him at a team like Juventus or Bayern & really give it a go if spurs don't make the step up themselves.

Obviously I'd have him here in an instant but not going to happen.
Neither of those would stump up the money Spurs would rightfully demand.

True - I'd love to see an English player go abroad and really hit it off; just not that the most likely way that would happen is by going to the two Spanish clubs.

Can he perform against big teams in Europe on play-off rounds, though? What about with the national team?
Those are my questions before I bow before him

Every english player tends to be shit on the national team. Look at the last decade when supposed world class players like Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard etc were flopping

Our national team is shit so I personally don't take too much notice of his record for England, as for big teams in CL knockout rounds we shall see. Scored 2 against Dortmund the other week, scored against Monaco away last year.

I would love to see stats for all the top strikers on things like this, because I wonder how many goals people actually expect these players to score against the top sides, being that they are playing better opposition and are tightly marked and singled out as threats to nulify, seriously it's like people expect them to be scoring every game.

Kane is better than 1 in 2 (13 goals in 25 games by my calculations) against the other top 6 sides in the PL, that is pretty damn good.

Starting to look like one of the first English media darlings in a long time who might actually make it

I still stand by my view if he was better looking or more glamorous/marketable he'd be much higher rated. I said it weeks ago on here and said it over a year ago elsewhere, he's class but people don't give him credit cos he's a bit ordinary in his presence to put it kindly. The more he scores the more people have to admit he's brilliant. Shame he hasn't got the looks of Beckham or the fascination factor of Gazza.

Reminds me of Scholes in a way, as a Liverpool fan I can admit and still feel that lad didn't get the accolades he could have done, absolutely phenomenal player but Lamps and Gerrard got all the headlines and quite often a place in the England team to Scholes detriment. Even now he doesn't get brought up enough when talking about the golden generation.

It was only our Wayne's dazzling looks and razor sharp wit that lead him to being rated.

He had the Gazza fascination factor, Gazza was no Brad Pitt either he just happened to be interesting on the front page, Ala Rooney. Kane doesn't have either. Nice way to totally miss the Gazza bit though :) unless you're Sheryl and actually find him sexy. No harm done if so.

He's one of the very tiny handful of best strikers in the world and I have to regularly pinch myself to remember it's actually true.

Spurs went into tonight's must win away in Cyprus missing 6 first choice players. Kane have no fecks, took his 3 goals (perfect hat trick - left, right, head) and was off the pitch by the 75th minute. That's what world class strikers do.

Sheryl?

I think you've probably got a point but I think it's just a part of it and the fact he's 24 so not the 'wonderkid' the press likes and he plays for Spurs rather than a better supported club are bigger factors.

have to say I never expected him to reach these heights. There's really nothing special about him as a footballer IMO but he continues to smash in the goals. Top striker.

I just think he's not got the X factor. I couldn't rate the lad higher myself I think he's excellent and would love to see him battling the elite for the Balon D'or, he's just underestimated by so many cos he's not superstar material. He won't be selling pencil cases in Japan or aftershave in Boots, if you know what I mean. It's a shame, cos I'd put a few quid that he'll easily break Shearers record if he stays in England. Looking less and less likely season by season if he keeps it up cos one of the big 3 will want him.

Edit, Sheryl was Gazzas wife, the IT couple of the time. The one he battered while at Rangers - Mum of Bianca, one of the first celebrity kid brats to start appearing on TV before the floodgates opened.

He's a monster. Just incredible.

He's going to break a lot of records in the future and I really hope he doesn't leave Tottenham in the process.

A perfect hattrick.

Only second to Messi in goals scored in all competitions in 2017.

Do you think that he could fit into Madrid?
I want to see him at Bernábeu to get an idea of how he plays

I'd argue that's football related too. I think it's relevant that Gazza and Wayne had a tendency to score incredible goals and Beckham made his name scoring from his own half.

Lineker was a pretty fine looking young man. Can speak like a human. Never really reached super-stardom despite being a great goalscorer.

Raul did, Morientes did. They were both kind of similiar players, not blessed with amazing speed but hit the back of the net consistently.

Best striker in the league by a thin margin. His next move is going to be so important not just for him but for the league.

He's very clinical. What do Real fans prefer, entertainment or just outright clinical goals? He'll never be a Ronaldo (Portuguese or Brazillian version) type flair player which Real usually prefer but I agree with one of the posts above in comparing him to Raul and Morinetes.

I'm 39, I remember clearly a lot of lads at school having Linekar on their shirts when breaktime hit, you'd be surprised how popular he was (Platt was another, still spoken about in hallowed terms to this day surprisingly) one went to Barca, the other to Parma? I think, somewhere in Italy when Italy was THE place to be. Then Gazza to Lazio. Huddle and Waddle were already the spice boys of their day, Johnny Barnes was a part time rapper. To compare Kane to anyone he'd be Bryan Robson. Great player, yet won't appear on the front cover of smash hits.

I'm not knocking the fella honestly, I just think he's being underestimated by a lot of football fans and the world of football itself cos he just doesn't have that tabloid factor. If he had the magnetism of Mario Ballotelli or Paulo Di Canio to name someone older (two far inferior players) he'd be getting much more publicity and kudos.

One the other hand he's a model professional and isn't going to embarrass any brand associations by getting into fights at a nightclub, or getting caught drink-driving. His current brand associations include Nike, Beats By Dre, Lucozade Sport and BT Sport.

Sports pro say he's the 20th most marketable person in sport globally. That's across all sports, not just football: http://www.sportspromedia.com/most-marketable/2017/harry-kane-2017
