Excellent performance by Liam Brady in Ireland's 1-0 win in 1984 against a strong Soviet Union side containing the likes of Blokhin, Dasayev, Chivadze, Bessonov and Demyanenko:



It was weird and good seeing Ireland actually pass the ball and outplay the opposition for long stretches of the match. O' Leary, Lawrenson and Galvin were very good too as was Chivadze for USSR, but Brady was the standout player.

:lol: tell me about it, the other day i was searching the upload button for a good 10 minutes....they changed something on daily, then i go back the next day and everything is back to normal, almost threw my laptop to the wall.

Will be good to see. There's something wonderful about watching a player who seems to float around the pitch, can feint/go either way, the game seems effortless and the ball seems stuck to their boots. There's a word to describe these players and it fits Brady .... mercurial.
 
@Arbitrium it's No Mates draft, innit...so there are 3 simple explanations, and a 4th one that's slightly more detailed:

1. Maradona
2. Maradona
3. Maradona

Maradona blocks no one of note apart from Passarella, Ruggeri, Careca - and gives you a hell of a building block in the trademark 5212 - especially in this pool where a handful of the Top 10-ish attackers are missing out: Pelé, Di Stéfano, Messi, Fenómeno - so his presence is even more pronounced in terms of star value.

It is Lamb style from now to the final (only one reinforcement for the final however).

How Lamb style works:

Deadlines-

Pick 1 - 24 hours (after the final game of the round is concluded)
Pick 2 - 12 hours
Pick 3 - 12 hours

No changing of picks once submitted.

Let's say A, B, C, D and E are playing the draft.

All 5 managers PM a neutral with their picks as follows (cricket examples):

Pick 1 :

A : Shane Warne, Steve Waugh
B : Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting
C : Don Bradman, Shane Warne
D : Viv Richards, Gary Sobers
E : Malcolm Marshall, WG Grace

According to the rules, A and B don't Shane Warne but get the other. C gets Bradman but not Warne and D and E successfully sign both of their players. So, at the end of the deadline someone will post something like this :

B : Fail, Ricky Ponting,
C : Don Bradman, Fail

Important : successfully drafted players will be announced after each drafting round unlike Sheep Drafting. So the managers going into the second/third attempt will know which players have been picked. Now, A and B have to submit again for the same criteria as their second attempt etc. Shane Warne though will still be eligible for picking in round 2 and 3 of reinforcement drafting; he is only blocked in the round where more than one drafter picks him.
