There's a genuine chance of them not getting top 4 this season now. I still feel we'll drop too many points given how tough our league fixture is but I'm hoping to at least see some more Pep meltdowns in the post match pressers.

I think they're pretty much safe. Our only hope is Liverpool messing up.

There's no we'll make it into the top four having to concentrate on the Europa too, City and Liverpool have only one goal with easier games than us, best we could hope for is beat City Thursday to hamper thier chances and help Arsenal get top four.

I know some realism can be important, but lets lift our heads a little higher than that, we're playing reasonably well.
Reasonably well I agree, and I'm counting on us winning the Europa, so it's not like I'm Eeyore here! We've had trouble finishing chances and we have our top scorer out, not hard to assume we'll be resting for Europe.

Fair enough, it's just that, for weeks now, I just haven't been able to shake the idea that we tend to do ok against the big sides, and that Liverpool tend to struggle when they're favourites. If we could win on Thursday (which will be very difficult) and Liverpool don't win their next match... I could see us getting there in their place.

It's okay I don't like the pessimistic attitude some of our fans have developed these past few years, probably served up too much dross!

Can genuinely see us causing problems next year, just think the circumstances have transpired against us this season, injuries and a tough end to the season whilst our top four rivals have simpler fixtures and more time to recover from games.

They'll never win the quadruple. Certainly not while any of the current squad is in the team; it'll be a long long wait.

No team ever will, or the treble or the double (Champions League + Premiership Title)

No current club has the quality to cope with a standard run (Round 16/quarters) in Europe let alone get to the final and mount a serious title challenge.
The team that doesn't have Europe or drops out early will have a chance for the title. It's one or the other, well Champions League no chance, English teams may well start dominating the Europa League. Well as long as Saville are kept busy in the champions league. .

Well done guys, you've just jinxed us for the game on Thursday.

Should have bumped it after that.

Jesus, people, you are all so wrong, we was not talking about trophies, we was talking about this:
Quadruple chocolate cake!

Can it actually happen this season? :nervous:
Please stop this hype train. Cafe has been a wreck since yesterday, we may as well change our name to Man City Lovefest instead.

Agreed. It's quite pathetic. All the City, Liverpool, Tottenham etc players are way beyond ours and so on and so on. It's ridiculous and tedious.

It is reasonably bearable with Spurs, people know they aren't really the best team ever. With Liverpool the way their offensive potential going forward has been quite over the top.

City are by far the worst though. For several years already people have been in awe with them and have praised them on every single occasion after a good game and even when thing were not going well for them a lot would come on and sing praises about how much better than us they are anyway. It used to be Chelsea between 2005 and 2011 that were always much better than United, even if they were finishing way below. Now it's City, no matter what we do they are Caf darlings and will get all the praise (happened even in Ferguson's last season when a lot on here perceived them to be much better than us anyway).

I will point out they were 3-0 up with some brilliant play and then conceded at home 2 goals before and after the break.
The additional 4 goals were excellent but when Stoke were chasing that equalizer. Maybe I'm wrong because I didn't watch the match live.

I expect them to get to the CL semi and even possibly win it; But the league will throw up some tasty surprises during ball-in-the-air winter season and if Ottamendi plays then we'll be laughing at the calamitous goals. It will be close.

Quadruple? Not with those centre-backs. Gundogan will be vital to how they handle the fixture pile up but they are a Mascherano/Busquets/Fit Kompany short of truly being unstoppable.

I'm actually excited to see how this City side will do against Napoli. Both teams are in ridiculously good form. Napoli have won 12 in a row. City have won 9 in a row.

They were unbeaten the first couple of months last season too before it all started to fall apart as fixtures piled up. They're clearly better this season with all the new purchases but they haven't won anything yet.

Love for City here is quite something. Can't believe my eyes. I'm not even surprised this thread has been bumped.

Can we just save bumping this thread for when they go out of one of the competitions?

It really has, and it is the same crowd who were acting like drama queens last season.

Ironically, the sanest of the lot seem to actually be the city fans on here.

Jesus, what's with the need to bump so many city threads.
