KDB is the best in the league at the perfectly weighted final ball.

Pogba is the best in the league at using a range of different passes.

This sounds to me like you are saying Pogba is the better passer. I agree.

De Bruyne is a better passesr than Pogba. The latter is an excellent in his own right but De Bruyne is special in this respect and second only to Messi at the moment.

Overall as a player he's better too but Pogba has the ability to surpass him.
Hmnn, I beg to disagree. Pogba is massively underrated. That kid can do things with the ball that De Bruyne can only dream of. Pogba is a more rounded and talented player for me. This should taken absolutely nothing away from Kevin. He's one hell of a player.

Maybe this thread should be titled, 'Pogba vs De Bruyne: Who is the better Player?' That should be interesting.

Reading this thread, I can't help but think that Sunday will be a sad day for football with Pogba not on the pitch. It would have been a spectacle to see two of the world's most talented midfielders almost at the peak of their powers, lead their teams in a game that is absolutely critical.

Unfair comparisms, Pogba should be compared with the likes of Thiago, Verratti, Modric, Kroos, fabregas due to where they play.
Debruyne compared with likes of Ozil, Eriksen, mikhi, Mata and Isco.
HHope this helps.

I lime him too but his passing ability is no where near those 2, I only meant that numbers are inflated in Bundesliga.
De Bruyne had 20 assists in the league while feeding the likes of Bas Dost, Daniel Caligiuri, Naldo and Ricardo Rodriguez(4 of the team's top 5 scorers. The 2nd best scorer was De Bruyne himself. The last 2 are a CB and a LB, and the second guy now plays RB for schalke)

Mhki had 15 while playing with Aubameyang, Reus and Kagawa...

I really think Pogba can do everything that KDB can and more. I'd say KDB has been more efficient than Pogba this season in the final third, but i would still give Pogba the edge based on his versatility, range and ability to pull off something unexpected.

Doesn't that mean a fair few of those assists could've been through set pieces, which really does not indicate passing ability fwiw.

I'm sure everyone and their mum has said this already but De Bruyne is the better short passer and assist-maker. Pogba has better range, a bigger catalogue of passes, a greater capacity to improvise and produce the unexpected.

Incredibly, they seem to each be better suited to their roles within their respective teams...

Not being as good as De Bruyne doesn't mean you can't be excellent yourself. More talented? I think Pogba is. But in the bigger games with less space he can struggle. De Bruyne has become a top top player now and Pogba is just below that.

I'd take Pogba between the two of them as he has more ability and potential. If he reached his top level I don't think de Bruyne can reach it, but he has to be able to shine in the bigger games against the likes of chelsea and Liverpool first.

Kevin de Bruyne. In some situations he's even a better passer than Messi at the moment in my opinion.

If you put them both up for sale tomorrow, Pogba would fetch the higher fee.

Whether that's correct or not based upon their talent isn't for me to say, but it certainly proves what a total bullshit comment Jev's is. I absolutely detest those kind of posts, as though we comparing fecking Lingard and De Bruyne rather than Paul fecking Pogba, the third most expensive player in history.
No chance. Pogba is amazing but De Bruyne would go for close to Neymar money

Maybe putting it another way? Peak CR7's dribbling and Messi's dribbling(just...). Messi does it the simple way almost perfectly, CR7 on the other hand uses many skillmoves that don't always come off.
On this occasion, KDB is Messi. His weight of passing is one of the best in the world, he's got in abundance the main things you need from a great passer: accuracy, vision, anticipation and range. Pogba on the other hand is CR7 as he has more variation of passes in his locker, longer range, flair and spectacle but isn't as accurate as KDB(although just little separate them in range and accuracy) and his consistency is not as good as KDBs'.
All in All, De Bruyne is the better pure simple passer but I'd take Pogba over him in any other criteria you use, any other day.

De Bruyne is arguably the best CAM in the world, and that’s largely because of his ability to always find the right pass through defences. People talking about range and flair are just trying to give Pogba a chance. Who gets the ball from A to B the best?

De Bruyne is also a far superior crosser off the ball, his accuracy when putting more pace on the ball barely falters, and is up there with anybody in world football.

Why wouldn’t crossing be a reflection on passing? You’re looking to put the ball in a specific area with pace on it. Accurately putting the ball somewhere sound very similar to a pass.

De Bruyne has better execution but Pogba has a bigger variety of passes. I say Pogba. Don't forget that De Bruyne is playing with Silva, Jesus, Aguero, Sane and Sterling. The whole team is functioning better in a attacking sense wheareas Pogba is playing with Lingard, Rashford and Lukaku. There's a big difference there.
That hardly effects a good pass....

I don't really think set piece taking is same as passing or should be considered as passing. For example, Xavi and Scholes were one of the best passers of the ball but don't think they are anywhere as good when taking set pieces. Pirlo was superb at both though.

If we are talking about crossing then it's a different story. Baines was a superb crosser of the ball, do you think he is also very good passer of the ball?

This. In terms of passing alone though I think KdB shades it. Pogba may have the flashier passes in his locker but in terms of pure effectiveness and making the right pass in the final third, not many come close to KdB.

Pogba has a unique mixture of physical and technical qualities. The only thing that stops him from being the best midfielder in the world right now is his erratic decision making. It is erratic because of two things: he is still not mature/experienced enough and he is a showman who prefers to do incredible passes, dribbles, etc than simple but efficient things. When he pulls off something stunning he corroborates the view that he is very special. But he will be even better if he keeps it simple in some situations.

United players are generally underrated on these boards. Take Pogba himself for example, he was rated twice as much as he is here when he was playing for Juventus.

People would have you believe that he was on another level at Juventus but that simply not true, he's mostly been around his Juventus level but because he's a United player who is watched week in week out including his duds and mistake people have gotten this incorrect perception.

While players like KDB are mostly seen during highlights reels on their best showings and you have this perception where people think his passing is flawless and doesn't have failed attempted passes.

This is the ultimate jinx thread. Watch him come and torch us on Sunday, just like he did last season at OT.

De Bruyne and Pogba are just as good as each other in the different roles they perform for their teams, and they're equally as important.

Not sure why there has to be this constant comparison between the two. They might generally occupy the same area of the pitch but they're both different types of players.

If the highest level of skills are something everybody can learn with train, why you never see players coming from methodic football nations with the same flair of the best South Americans?
You think if Fellaini train very hard he can dribble pass an entire defense like Maradona or Messi?

Its exactly the contrary of what you said.
The first day you play football you realize that there are individuals that are just naturally better.
Its the same as any other human activity. You can train as you want but you can't paint like Picasso.
S

You were making a difference between saying technique could be improved and skills couldnt. Responding to someone who said Pogba has a flair that de Bruyne simply hasnt. By that i thought you meant flair is skills. As in fancy tricks and what not. The reason why players like Messi(who a lot of people say has no flair btw)can dribble so superior is because their great close control(technique), which I already said some can train and never learn. Skills as in back heals, tricks and stuf everybody can do, but you need the personality(flair) to do so. Technique(your touch, close control etc) is something some have a limit to that is why everybody isnt as technical as the Iniesta's, Messi's etc.
