The Köln jerseys... I'm a bit afraid of getting eye cancer :nervous:

Bayern-Köln is a bit of a drag. The Köln jerseys definitely do not help.

Finally, Lewandowski puts us ahead. And a brilliant assist by Müller, heading a perfectly weighted ball behind his back.

Leverkusen on a very nice run atm.

I know they'll blow up when it matters as ever (probably get within 5 points of Bayern and then not win for 10 games) but as ever they have some interesting players in their 11. Alario playing well, one to watch alongside eternal favourites Bailey and Johnathan Tah.

I hope the rumours are true that West Ham/Moyes is willing to let Oxford move on a permanent deal for €10M. Gladbach had a real strong transfer period with Zakari and Cuissance in midfield. Elvedi has progressed nicely, too. If they get Oxford for €10M, they´ll have stock-pilled a lot of virtual future transfer surplus already.

Yes good to see Oxford finally starting.

Surely more goals for 'Gladbach here, they are killing Hamburg on the break.

Freiburg and Bremen blow two goal 2nd half leads. We´ll never get rid of Hamburg. The Germans need another overhaul. This time it´s to their coaching system. They need an additional two weeks long training block: how to sit on a lead by random Italian Coach. Klopp can be a guest listener. Absolutely embarrassing.

Jesus Frankfurt, too. Five games, three 2nd half leads by two goals. Three ties. Three last minute equalizers.

Uth with his 9th goal in 16 matches. 0-1 Hoffenheim in Dortmund. He´ll be a nice free transfer for Gladbach in the summer (hopefully). I´ll never have to see Bobadilla and Drmic again. :wenger:

Looks like Stoger has gone the complete opposite way to how Bosz played and is having Dortmund play with a really deep defensive line and on the counter. He certainly has to change that in the second half as Hoffenheim have been very comfortable since going into the lead, they have to be put under more pressure. Feel a bit for the Dortmund players though, going from one extreme form to tactics to another must not be busy. Thankfully they'l have the winter break to try and get back into shape.

Besides Pulisic, Dortmund's forward players have been extremely average. Yarmolenko just seems distinctively average since he's come and wastes so many chances; besides also not having a right boot. Kagawa has regressed badly in the last two seasons as well. Dortmund desperately need Reus back to bring some genuine quality in the playmaking position (and Gotze to return from injury as well).

Great to see Uth continuing his goalscoring run, has scored some blinders this season. Maybe can make it into the World Cup squad.

What a player Pulisic is! The composure to chip it over Baumann and finish it in that situation is amazing for a 19 year old. Good run from Dahoud and pass from Kagawa as well (improved in the second half) to create the goal as well

Dortmund certainly didn't deserve to win that match, Hoffenheim created more before Dortmund scored the second. How about that open goal miss from Aubamayeng in the end though

I must watch a different Kagawa than everybody else. That´s now three goals and three assists in eight starts in the Bundesliga. A goal and two assists in two games for the new manager.

His goals and assists numbers are decent but, his overall has not been great this season.

Well I´m not saying he´s been brilliant, but in comparison to the rest of the team, he´s constinently been one of the 3-4 best players this year. Especially in terms of playing well-timed clever through balls into the gaps for Pulisic and Aubameyang, it´s him or Gotze.

Do you class Pulisic as a truly world class talent, or is he another one of those who looks great for Dortmund, but might fail to make the step up?

Finally Müller decided a game for us again, really happy for him.
???

Even if you only count goals he had the 1:0 against Glasgow. If you count assists, too, he played in 8 matches since Heynckes came back. In the first match he pushed Freiburg to score an own goal for the 1:0 - since then he had the assist or goal for the 1:0 (or against Hannover additionally for the 2:1) in all but 2 of the matches he played in - Paris when he came in and we were already leading and decided not to go for the fourth goal and as centre forward against Frankfurt (not his position).

It is 2 goals and 5 assists since Heynckes came back and he played less than 500 minutes since then because he was injured and Heynckes treats him like a raw egg since his injury.

It's still only his second Bundesliga goal of the season, and the first really important one. I know that his rate of assists was good so far, but this is the first match in a long time decided by him.

Have there been any noises about Bayern's next coach? Is Nagelsmann still on?
I'd say that will happen next summer.

What I cannot understand is why it hasn't happened already if Bayern are supposedly gonna go for Nagelsmann.

Does Nagelsmann feel some sense of loyalty to Hoffenheim for giving him chance at 27 years of age?
Strange if so because he owes them nothing considering the success he's brought them.

Bayern should seek to hold onto Heynckes though.

This has been one of the strangest cases of a non transfer in recent times. I thought he really wanted to leave and perhaps would have even considered a big money move to China. Don't know what to think anymore with the new contract. You reckon there's a reasonable release clause in there?

As much as I think Niko Kovac has done a fantastic job at Frankfurt the one thing that really can be frustrating is that he can tend to sit on a lead and run the risk of what happened with Schalke yesterday.

During the week Frankfurt won 2-1 at Hamburg. After going a goal down the rest of the first half was just superb. Could have been 4-1 at half time to Eintracht instead of 2-1.
How does the match finish?
With Frankfurt hanging on to their lead and not showing much in the second half relative to the first half.

Similar to away games at Hoffenheim (1-1, last minute Hoff equaliser) and at Mainz (1-1 where Frankfurt took the lead).
Holding onto these three leads (especially yesterday) would put Frankfurt in second place on 32 points. I know thats all ifs, buts and maybes etc. . .

Eintracht actually have the second best away record in the Bundesliga with 18 of their 26 points away from home but have the third worst home record where the emphasis is to go and attack the opposition.

Possibly. The extension though is only one year from 2020 to 2021.

I don't think it's that strange. Aubameyang was "underpaid" at Dortmund, so Auba got a wage hike and Dortmund got a mini extension. According to some SZ article he earns close to €10m now.

He was a French league journeyman before Dortmund picked him up.

Sadly loyalty takes second place to money for many of these mercenaries.

In terms of goals and assists he was second only to Ibra in his last season in Ligue 1 and a lot of good clubs wanted him, not just Dortmund. I also don't get your complaints about loyalty, he just signed his second contract extension that potentially extends his stay at the club to 8 seasons. Sure, he was thinking about leaving last summer, but he also stayed quiet and delivered when no one wanted to match Dortmund's steep asking price.

What a game between Leverkusen and Hannover. Brandt scores a world class goal and in the next possession Hannover score.

Henrichs at fault for Hannover's goal. For all his hype, I've never gotten it. Makes too many mistakes defensively.

I don’t get this. The guy is playing incredibly well for quite a few years and is obviously underpaid. He could have made much more money elsewhere. He’s still at Dortmund, still performing and some day he might make Dortmund quite a bit of money. He owes Dortmund nothing.
In general, this talk about loyalty is quite odd to me. Teams are not loyal towards their players either.

He has been superb for Dortmund.

I just don't like players who sit around sulking, angling for a move elsewhere when all they want is money.

FWIW I don't think he'd be a success in the EPL.

How do you define sulking? Scoring 40+ goals a season? And how do you know he only wanted money? PSG supposedly would've signed him if they handn't switched DoFs mid summer.
I also don't see why he would struggle in a league where Lukaku is leading the line for the 2nd placed team, I reckon Bundesliga's focus on (midfield) pressing makes it especially demanding on the ball playing qualities of its strikers.

Leon Bailey is faster than Donovan Bailey. Comes on and scores. It´s amazing that ESPN managed a best 11 under 21 with two Leverkusen players and neither was Bailey or Havertz. of couese not as funny as Renato Sanches being in that starting 11.

Bailey has done great since coming on, continuing his great form. Who were the two players under 21? Henrichs and Tah I presume. Tah deserves you be there.

4-3. Bailey again! What a pass from Mehmedi.
