It would be an absolute disaster if Mourinho leaves now. That will be another 2 years wasted and we'll have to rebuild again. Hopefully hes backed up by Ed and the Glazers to bring in a world class player or two who will make a difference in the final third.

He played some great football when he last won the premiership with Chelsea. Point is that our squad needed alot of work before Jose came and still does need the finishing touches.

Yes, his default style may be a little defensive/counter attack. But when he has the right quality of players at his disposal he is more progressive.

We’re in danger of almost hounding out our best managerial option because his style of play is not Pep Guardiola’s! Which sadly would play right into Citys hands.
Chelsea were good in the first half of the season, after that they just sort played a lot of 1-0s to close it out that year. Do you people not remember "boring boring" chants they were subjected to at every ground, Mourinho had to constantly defend his style too. He even ended up criticizing Hazard of all people for not tracking back against Atletico and started losing his shit since then.

Plus it's not easy implementing what he did at Chelsea, the players at Chelsea by default defend well as a unit and counter attack, it's so ingrained in them that they won the fecking CL by parking the bus without a decent manager. That's why Conte has found it easy to implement his style at Chelsea.

And no Jose has never been long enough at a club for long for you to say that he gets more progressive as he builds the squad and time goes on.

No its not a crime to admit it. It is one though to not mind a manager who has turned a ship that was sinking fast just because you "heart" tells you that you aren't enjoying watching us play. Have you see Man City last year? Did you enjoy that? Did you enjoy all SAFs matches? I believe you would have been happy to see him leave too.
I would be anti-Ferguson because if Jose decided to leave for PSG at the end of the season, that I wouldnt shed a tear for this awful football? Are you serious? You're going to tar me with that wide a brush stroke?

Even in Sir Alex's last season, half the games were entertaining watches, nor did we consistently show the mentality to retreat and camp our own half after going a goal up. He consistently tried to play positive football bar the odd tough away game, we just executed it poorly. Mostly due to an ever ageing, slightly average squad.

I'm not blind, nor (that big) an idiot, I can see Mourinho has done a good job improving us, but If he wants to piss off to PSG, he can bloody well go, we'll move on and survive, preferably in traditions and ethos of what United has always stood for.

And we have a right to voice our opinion(s) - especially if we don’t agree with Mourinho’s tactics.
I mean, just look at our record v the top six, the amount of goals we have scored & the way we were tactically set up. Negative.

Yes, results have been good, but the football? As bland as it has been the last four years.
Pretty sure I made that same point in my post.

Cannot for the life of me understand those spoiled brats who want him to go, there's is absolutely nobody in the world who could do as good for United as he is doing and you'll find that out next season if he does leave
It's not about being a spoiled brat, the thread is onto a sixteenth page now and I don't think anybody has demanded he go, more that if he did take up the opportunity to become Manager of PSG sometime in the near future they wouldn't lose any sleep over it, for obvious reasons.....

I agree that it would not be wise if Jose leaves us now. However saying that it'll be another two years wasted and we'll have to rebuild again is over the top. By saying that you are suggesting that Jose hasn't done a good enough job with our recruitment and team that a new man will have to rip everything apart and start afresh. We have made clear progress in his time here. The recruitment has been good and we won two trophies last season. He has added two top notch midfield players, one in his prime and another talented young one who can touch whatever height he wants to in his career, who will serve us well in the foreseeable future. Bailly is an excellent defender & Lukaku is a very good striker. The core of a good team is there and it needs addition of two or three quality players to stand along the very best. So yeah, I don't agree that we'll be back to square one if Jose decides to leave.

People on this forum are far too trigger happy when it comes to managers, Mourinho has done as well with the group of players as Fergie would have. The notion that him leaving wouldn't be a disaster is laughable. There is nobody in the world, with maybe the exception of Pep, that we'd be better off with. If I could I'd give him a 15 year contract and meet any demands he requires. By the time 2033 comes round I guarantee you we'd be glad we did.

Be careful what you wish for. Getting a new manager, 4th after Fergie, that's a great idea..

I just cant see any manager being successful in League or CL with the squad we have even with different tactics. We need to be more realistic when assessing our players. Yes some on here can underrate our players as many overrate them but from my point of view the team is stacked with average to good players, our final position in league/CL will reflect this...pretty simple really. If Jose wants the lure of PSG and another billionaire project like Pep has at City, its his choice, I think deep down though he really wants to prove everyone wrong by turning this club into a force on the field again but unless he is further backed with huge money I think it will be very tough. I also think De Gea will consider his future not just Jose if we continue this way. The Glazers put their own profit margins to one side and take a risk financially starting January, I think Jose will have no reason to leave.

Statements like this never make sense. So you are telling me you would prefer to be like Arsenal rather than actually win. Finishing 2nd is any day better than 4th , with or without attacking. Furthermore we have scores second highest number of goals in the league so yes we have been efficent in attack.
Surprised so many would be fine with it. Whether they like him or not, there's few better than him. I don't see who else can realistically take on Pep and win. Allegedly Fergie's successor was 5th or 6th choice. After that the best we could get was Van Gaal. Mourinho is far and away the best we've had since, and I struggle to see how we can improve on him in the foreseeable future.

The people saying Mou is the best thing to happen to United since Fergie are as silly as the the people saying he should be sacked tbh. Mourinho's doing fine, could be worse, could be better.

If he doesnt win anything this year, he's going to PSG, I just know it.

So who is the best thing to happen to United since Fergie? Moyes?

Fine for me if there are some question marks over Mourinho, but there is no one as good as him to replace him (realistically)

Just curious would you be watching every single game up until then or would be enter some sort of hibernation and say "wake me up in 2033 to count the trophies"?

He is already letting himself be loved in several statements, and the moment
Of course, the man knows how to get himself loved..

I would say don't feed the troll, but I realized some journalists are paid for that stuff. Professional trolls, so to speak.

100% behind those who say we need more stability. Right now, it's Jose or bust. Thankfully I feel like the management and the majority of the fans are smart enough to understand that. It will be messy, but I believe Jose will be able to claw the way up to the top with United, like he has done with other clubs before. It's just a matter of patience.

DDG's development? Fine, I worded that poorly, of the 3 that followed Fergie he's obviously the best, but he's not the new Fergie by any means.

It's definitely 'useful' for Mourinho for these stories to be out there at the moment (transfer window, possible contract negotiations).

Back in the CL, coasting through groups and a good chance of making last 8 (compared to bowing out at the GS/not qualifying)

I remember when you lot were losing at OT in the PL to Norwich, Swansea and West Brom ffs.

He's vastly improved United and some of you lot are too blind to see it.

I get the frustration at the gap between you and City - fact is they're having a historic season and blame it on the board as their City counterparts have been making smarter commercial and footballing decisions since as far back as Fergie still being in charge and it's paying dividends down the line.

Mourinho is the guy restoring the balance, building United back to where they need to be and succeeding at it. What are you gonna do, sack him half way through that ongoing and working process and replace him with a flavour of the month manager?

I half hope he goes, at least then you'll probably end up appreciating the job he did when you end up back finishing 6th.
This! Thank you very much! :D

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. He doesn't stay anywhere very long, if United look like finishing the season woefully behind City - even in 2nd place - with no trophies, and he engineered a major bust-up with someone at the club and ended up leaving it would come as no real surprise.

You are not going to win this argument mate.

Any form of criticism of the fecking shite football that Mourinho has us playing instantly means you aren’t a true fan in the eyes of many on here.

Would it really be a disaster? Sure he's a winner, but he's a marmite coach in terms of antics and tactics and even if he had the likes of Messi/Ronaldo and a Modric alongside Pogba he'd still be an extremely defensive coach.

I don't want him to go, but wouldn't be too disappointed if he did. He's no longer the special one, football's moved on, while Jose still lives in 2004-2007, as can be seen in him trying to turn United into Chelsea of 2004 (tall/powerful players).

But but we barely improved post Fergie! And what we have seen so far with Jose it's promising,no? If he is well backed by the board he would take us to where we should always be IMO.

We cannot possibly get anyone better than Mourinho to get us out of the mess that we have been in this past few seasons since SAF retired. We have seen lots of progress last and this season. Our defensive style of play have been due to important players being out at various periods this season, meaning Jose has to be more pragmatic in his approach to getting 3 points. When players like Pogba have been available we have been scoring 4 goals regularly. Fans are basically blinded by City's form this season, or are just spoilt idiots.

It's not fine when they are coming to Old Trafford IMO, but the problem was we had no counter gameplan, he had Lukaku miles from the other 3 who were all tucked deep and adrift from the #9, it's why City found us so easy to press, we congested ourselves. It's par for the course with Jose in these big games, he's so afraid of the other teams strengths that he sacrificies our own.
I get what you mean considering our history, reputation and size as a club. But in reality, at this point in time, City has a better team and has been more lucky with injuries. Soaking and counter attacking in deadly fashion is a brilliant strategy to deploy against them. Like I said, the problem was the poor execution. We failed to string passes together when we had the ball and we were not deadly enough in attack.

Then we need to exam why they have a better team as the 2 managers have had the same time and when you look at their shaky CB's and the fact Pep has turned Sterling from a headless chicken into a top attacker and is thriving with 2 kids in Sane and Jesus in the attack and Delph at LB, the "He's spent more money" brigade looks weak. As for the counter plan, if it is to be utilized then the manager was again to blame as it was clear our players were instructed to pack in deep, miles from Lukaku, a striker that can't hold the ball up when pressured, look at how we used the counter vs Arsenal, look how much closer to Lukaku, Lingard and Martial were, that's instructions, and Jose's fear led to that defeat IMO just as it's led to most of our big game performances being dire, he doesn't want to take the game on and doesn't set the players out to be able to counter effectively as they are too spread out.
