Mkhitaryan playing like he doesn't want to be here. Needs shipping out ASAP.

Rashford needs a long time away from the first team.

Best player on the pitch by far has been Pogba. He just oozes class. Lingard has done well too.

Why are we hoofing it so much, who is going to win these long balls. Bring Martial on, and try to build up play, rather than just hoofing it aimlessly.

So obstruction by the hands is fine so long as the player isnt doing it deliberately.

Ask yourself this, how many handball given are deliberate? Also if that's is outside the box, Pawson gives it.
Bold: yes, obviously, as it's an accident. Have you seriously never heard the term "ball to hand"?

The rule specifically states "deliberately" handling the ball, you can't fecking moan and call someone stupid for correctly quoting the rules.

As for other incidents being given, it's a rule that's misapplied a hell of a lot, that doesn't change the simple fact that he was 100% correct in stating that handball has to be deliberate.

There is still 45mins left to win (or to moan :wenger:). Tbh I have had it with this team, this manager, these referees, this fecking league...
    Jupiter's cock...
I can see that. Personally I am at the laughing stage and it started in EL, so I can't blame you.

The situation was imo 60/40 in his favour but he pulled out. It’s football so there’s always a chance of getting injured but for me if your wearing the Utd shirt you should give it 100% and pulling out is not what I want to see our players doing!
Sure, then they end up like Phil Jones for most of his United career.

    As I said, recklessness isn’t a positive.

I'm not sure it was. Looks like Yoshida is pulling his hand away. He's not making a deliberate motion towards the ball with his hand. They've definitely been given before, and referees often apply their own discretion with "unnatural positions" and whatnot, but if it was given it would be a bit harsh IMO.

But Foy's right. The rules say it has to be deliberate. But like the majority of rules, they're applied inconsistently.
Good reply. I disagree because I feel it's obstruction to the attacking team, hence why you see defenders keep their arms close to their or behind their bodies.

But yeah, I can see your point.

A front three of mkytarian, rashford and lingard, it’s simply not good enough. If an opposition team came with that attack, would anyone be worried? I appreciate Lukaku has gone off but that just brings me on to my next point, we have wasted a staggering amount of money.

    What did the ref do?
For my money, without being especially wound up, it's the worst refereeing performance we've had this calendar year. He is the most inconsistent space cadet that's ever had a whistle. He really does seem to have attention span problems (not based on this game alone). This is before the stonewall penalty he ignores then gives a free kick for same offence a few minutes later. He simply shits himself on a pitch and makes decisions based on sheer adrenaline, no composure whatsoever.

Stands thinking about his tea while Southampton take near 40 seconds on a throw in.

This is the problem. The rules state that it has to be deliberate. But it’s applied totally differently, especially inside and outside of the penalty area.

Mkhi with some good involvements, but rubbish final balls. Surprise, surprise - that’s what happens when you never play.

    This is a right struggle.

We're in poor form, and even playing a dreadful team isn't helping much.

Mata becoming agitated at their time wasting was perhaps the stand out moment.

    Paint drying.

Pure shit in attack and looking at the bit of defending that had to be done, chances are one of them will make a fck up and Southampton will bag one too.

Is it really a surprise we're terrible going forward though?
    • We have Mata who is past his best, also a 10 playing on the wing without pace.
    • Lingard who is a middle table player.
    • A Championship 20 year old in Rashford
    • Mkh who is completely shite.
    • Lukaku who offers nothing to the team or play most games when he's not scoring.
You can call it knee jerking or over reacting but it's not. I've watched enough football in my life time to know when players are good or bad.
Totally agree, compared to all the other top clubs are attack ain’t up to standards.

Controlled the game for the most part but our attacking play is once again lacking, wouldn't mind seeing Mata and Mkhi switch sides tbh, I know we like our inverted forwards/wingers but I'd just try them on the left and right respectively to see if it changed anything. We have actually put in 4/5 really good crosses this half but either fluffed the finish or not had anyone on the end of it.
We didn’t controlled the game. We discuss dominated the game as well.

Our forwards are cowards. Have developed a horrible habit of hiding in between the lines of the opposition defence and visibly not looking for possession. Mata is the only one demanding the ball, the rest are waiting for something to happen.

Genuinely not a pessimistic fan like so so many on here, but there's a fairly big clear out required at the club in order to address attitude, not necessarily quality.

Absolute farce with players out of position all over the pitch. 2 number 10’s on the wings...a winger through the middle. Add Young at RB and Rashford playing a lone striker and it’s just a massive cluster feck.

No identity and no style of play. Depressing.

Pogba is head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch but he needs a rocket up his arse. His work rate is poor.
Is he saving himself for his moments of brilliance?
We need to play faster and he needs to push up and get more involved.
Lingard is in some great positions again but the passes are delayed....
Pace pace pace and we'll pess this.

Does anyone actually doubt him? Pretty sure every acknowledges he is quality. Maybe just lacking stamping his authority on games. Isn’t helped by some of the poor displays around him and in general Just how we play.
Mainly non-reds, but people also underestimate the pedigree of Jose in being able to convince him to join an average team

We are seriously frustrating. We don't know what to do in the final third. If it's coaching why can't some of the players speak to the coaches and try to get that right? Ever since SAF our players are so passive, probably because they know it's the boss who will get the blame and they just carry on as usual picking up their huge undeserved pay cheques.

A little energy and desire would be nice for a start. Plus can they use the brain that God gave them?

We aren’t that bad. Our injury situation has come at a time when our players are out of form and short on confidence. Just need to keep going and we’ll nick 1.

Mkhi must be replaced here and sold in January. Rubbish performance. It's all very flat at the moment and there is too much sideways and backward passing. A big problem is we are too slow bringing the ball out from the back. No urgency and if we don't wake up I can see a 0-0 draw or even 0-1 to Southampton.

And wasted another 10 chances due to shocking final balls mostly from Mkhi.
Don't get me started on him. Horrendous player.

Cannot believe people are blaming his inability to kick a football in a straight line on "confidence".
