He's here because we offered more money, let's be honest.
I've spent more time watching and trying to understand Chilean reports than I would like to admit the day after the transfer, and it's been more of a combination of being relieved, proud, flattered etc.
Relieved that he's moving to the "most important team in the world (according to Forbes)", proud that he's been given #7 shirt and the history behind it, flattered that it was SAF that walked out of Carrington to meet him and flattered with all social media. Of course money was reported but it was more along the lines of the rags to riches story. Or that its a Chilean that has become the PL's top earner when it was said South Americans couldn't make it here.
Going to City wouldn't have moved Chile in the same way and I can't imagine it's that much different for the guy at the center of it all who has more money than he knows what to do with.
