Understandable. These are probably the biggest quotes in a press conference all season.

Jeez.. Raiola is a massive cnut, but that was a serious low blow by Pep.. not needed at all. I don't think even Jose would stoop that low to actually disclose such info.
He's probably really hurt by the humbling Pool gave them, has the derby coming up, I think he's doing everything he can at this point to take attention away from himself.

You don't take any attention away from yourself by starting a press war with a whorebag like Raiola, and you most certainly don't do it by potentially winding up Jose.

You do because the focus will now be on Raiola offering Pogba up to City at a time when there's speculation over his relationship with Mourinho. The focus isn't going to be over Pep and Raiola. It was a ridiculous thing for Pep to reveal. Proper cnut.

He could have mention it weeks ago but he chose not to. The timing to talk about it right before the derby and after the shit show just shows he is attempting to deflect attention away from the horror show at Anfield.

this would right after the spurs game when he was shit and subbed
Which makes no sense because that was after the window closed and Mkhi quite literally just sealed his move to Arsenal. Pep is probaby giving a rough estimate of time rather than a specific one. I doubt even Raiola would offer up a client a week after he moved.

Have we ever seen embargoed quotes like this in foreign media before today?

this would right after the spurs game when he was shit and subbed
From what Pep said it sounded like they were both offered around the same time which would have been middle of January/early January which is weird as prior to the Spurs game both he and Martial were our best players that month.

Responding ahead of City’s showdown with United, Guardiola said: “Two months ago he offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us.

“Why did he offer? He was interested in Mhikitarian and Pogba playing with us?

Mino Raiola launches stunning attack on Pep Guardiola
“So he has to protect his players and he cannot bring the players to a guy like me, like a dog.

“I said no. We don’t have enough money to buy Pogba because he is so expensive.”
Some better translated comments on MEN.

He mentioned it because Raiola called him a cnut two days ago.

More reasons for English journalists to hate Di Marzio. I love it.

And there in a few sentences is why Raiola having so much influence at a club is a bad idea.

Since when has he done something without his clients say so?
This could also be an outright lie on Pep’s part. It makes no sense that Raiola was supposedly offering Mhiki to City, when at that time Raiola & Mhiki were in the midst of negotiation for the Sanchez exchange. Keep in mind City had also been after Sanchez.

Right. Of all the things to say about the matter, he chose to bring up two of United's player.

And where is the proof that Raiola called him a cnut two days ago?

I understand him wanting to respond and doing so.. but he could have said he offered me Mkhi and some other players (and left it open for speculation). It is very rare managers will disclose such info as they know it is very disrespectful to opposition manager and one day they could be on the receiving end. Plus him and Jose have been on decent terms since move to EPL.
Why would he hold back, when Raiola was insulting him as a person?

WTF is Guardiola going on talking about calling Raiola a 'dog'?

He was offered 2 players. He refused them.

So move on.

Seems to me that Guardiola's real intent could be to cause disharmony at United. For him to call Pogba an "incredible player" is just laughable though.

Why did he bring this up before derby though? He could have handled it any different way. Shit stirring
Because Raiola called him out and a couple of days ago, he was asked about it and responded.

Football journalists in this country are so self important. Absolute wankers.

Guardiola is and all. Any other manager and they'd be called out on this.

If this is true, it could explain Pogba’s drop in form straight after, yeah?
Hope it’s just Raiola trying to get some leverage for a new record contract for Pogba though.

Like literally its in this thread in the last few messages, he was asked about it and responded, do you think he just walked into a conference and said "oh hey, raiola offered me pogba and Mkhi".

All the English journos have broken the embargo now

“I could answer him. I have a question, yeah, I will answer him, come on. Okay,” Guardiola said before making his incendiary claim: “I don’t understand why I am so… I agree with him. I am not a… Finally, the people discover my secrets; I am a bad guy. I’m a coward. I don’t understand why I am a so bad guy. I never speak with him (Raiola) so his influence on my opinion, so I don’t know maybe Ibra explain many things about me. But being a guy like two months ago he offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us. Why?

“Why he offer? He was interested in Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us? So I’m like a guy, so he has to protect his players and he has to know so he cannot bring the players a guy like me, like a dog. And comparing a dog is bad. It’s not good. He has to respect the dogs.”

Asked what his reaction was to being offered Pogba, Guardiola added: “Pogba is an incredible player. A top, top player…I said no. We don’t have the money enough to buy Pogba because he is so expensive.” Guardiola then reiterated his shock. “I’m surprised because I am a dog,” he said. “So that’s why…so like a dog, he comes to want his players to come to here. So, no. No way.”
Raiola whoring his players out to get a better deal. It happens every time with him.

Raiola's garbage. I am with Guardiola on this one. And if push comes to shove, Pogba can feck off if he sides with Raiola, no-one's bigger than the club.

I think even Zlatan talks too much trash about Pep, he's been professional and even praised Zlatan, but the latter can't let go. Managers have their player preferences.

The very fact they are embargoed comments and have leaked tells you everything you need to know about why Pep said it.

It won't have been a UK journalist who informed Di Marzio of these comments because it's just not in their interest to do so. The embargo exists for their benefit.

I'd bet my left testical that this has come directly from City who found out these quotes were embargoed until tonight and needed them to get out early in the hope it would create a problem within the squad and effect Mourinho's selection.

Pep knows full well that Pogba's distribution will be key to our transitions tomorrow as we're going to be on the back foot.

On the Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ffered-paul-pogba-henrikh-mkhitaryan-january/

Guardiola made his amazing claim after being asked whether the United manager, given the fierce history between the two, was still his “big rival”. “I have many (rivals)… especially agents,” Guardiola responded. “I have a lot. I am a big boss. I’ll give you a huge list of my big rivalries, believe me.”

He was then asked directly whether Raiola was on that list given the animosity the agent has shown. That was recently renewed with Raiola attacking the Spaniard by saying: “Pep Guardiola, the coach, is fantastic. As a person he’s an absolute zero. He’s a coward, a dog.”

So, no. No way.”

Asked whether he would ever sign a Raiola client, Guardiola, again sarcastically, said: “I am not a good guy. I am not a good guy. He deserves his players to play with better guys. But, he knows as well I am a top manager. Thank you.”

So insult Raiola as a person back. There's no need to bring Pogba into it. He knew exactly what he was doing with these comments and it goes beyond getting one over on Raiola as well.
Yes he probably stirred some major drama for Raiola and several others in our team. Ofcourse he knew what he was doing, Pep is not stupid.

Interesting. Could this have played a role in the tension that happened between Mourinho and Paul ?

Whatever the answer is, unless Pogba puts a strict rules for his relation with Raiola regarding us, these stories will be a routine when we decide to renew his contract.

So Raiola tried to engineer an exit for Pogba and Mkhi at the same time and offers them to Pep. This is even before Pogba was dropped! Pep refused and that's why Raiola called him a dog just a few days ago. Have I missed something?

It would be a cold day in hell before we sold any player to City. I'd like to think Raiola being the shrewd businessman he is knows this too, any discussion were probably for a better deal for Pogbas renewal.
