He gave the penalty for a collision.
A collision is not a foul if the player (defender) wins the ball.

Naturally a dive followed thereafter.

Not a penalty.

Oliver bottled it.
The defender didn't win the ball. He just ran straight into the back of Vazquez.

Lol it would be super nice if we didn’t pick and choose what I’m saying. Someone else said Oliver had no choice, I pointed out that inconsistency in making that choice. No need to get upset.
He had no choice because it was absolutely the right decision. What he did in the past doesn't matter.

If I had a choice of playing Real over two legs or in a one off game, I think I’d take the two legs.

They’d rise to the occasion and beat us in a final.

So collision is a foul if naturally a dive isn't followed thereafter?

I think some peoples dislike of RM/Oliver/English refs in general(delete as appropriate) has really clouded their judgement here

Yet he gives a pen against a team that’s just fought its way back from being 3 nil down, and yet doesn’t allow for the fact it’s the guys last season and that he has just taken away his last chance to win the cl as the reason he’s so upset? Theres the letter of law and the spirit of the law.
So you're advocating referees officiate inconsistently?

Why are all Bayern fans so nervous around here.
I guess we watched the other matches and saw what can happen. The Bayern team did not shine but played a very intelligent match in which they never really got in danger but did not risk much either.

What I did not like was that the Sevilla players tried to kill ours.

Juve playing for extra time instead of pushing on and looking for the 4th should be discussed. They had Real on the rack, nervous at the back, no conviction in midfield but backed off and invited Real forward. As bad as they were that is asking for trouble against that level of individual quality. Should have gone all in for the win in normal time.

Bayern barely beat Sevilla 2:1 on aggregate. Maybe Sevilla is not so bad after all.
I am trying to console myself for our loss against them considering their recent Bayern and Barca games. But still, it was our home game which made it unbearable.

Thank you. I saw Sevilla hitting the post and I'm not sure about those 2 chances I mentioned cause I watched sporadically. I recall Bayern player blocking one close shot, Kimich was it.

Not nit picking this game in particular but just pointing out that Spanish sides have had more than good luck. Chelsea had at least 2 stone wall calls and 2 borderline calls that day. That goes beyond a bad performance by a ref. I'd love to have seen the same challenge the other way tonight, I feel the ref wouldn't have called it but that's just peculation of course.
I don’t disagree on the broad point, Barca especially have had some mind boggling reffing performances. I thought Oliver was alright tonight though.

There was an interview posted in here with the ref in that Barca v Chelsea game. It was interesting, he is pretty much haunted by that game.

Look at the space Vasquez got there. This truely is Juventus' own fault IMO.

Agreed. Why they sat off is beyond me. One more goal and Real would need two. Bizarre management.

Joe hart went head to head with Oliver, screaming into his face, oliver did nothing. Yet he gives a pen against a team that’s just fought its way back from being 3 nil down, and yet doesn’t allow for the fact it’s the guys last season and that he has just taken away his last chance to win the cl as the reason he’s so upset? Theres the letter of law and the spirit of the law. And Oliver only shows his balls when it suits him. Booking Ronald for taking his shirt off seemed strange seeing as he had no problem with ronaldo diving at the slightest contact. People often ask why players get away with cheating, Oliver is the reason. Letting some players away with it for too often.
:lol::houllier:
What's this meant to show? Given the angle his foot could be a yard away
It shows the obvious contact from the leg. Obviously, the angle and the fact that it's a photo doesn't show he didn't touch the ball, but you'd clearly see that on a replay.

You never can shut down a team totally. There always will be chances. But it never really felt that they are able to shoot a goal. If you saw that two chances - that was about it for 90 minutes. Sevilla had 10 shots - none on target.

how was this even a talking point

what a wild fecking tackle that is . right to vazquez' chest. The only wonder for me is how the heck didnt Benatia get a red card aswel
This! A clear push, then a jumping karate kick with a foot nearly as high as Vasquez' face. It's a yellow and a red all in the space of a few seconds.

Absolute horror show from Benatia.

Juventus shouldn't have even been in a position in which Vazquez is alone on goal. And it was a stupid penalty to give.

They scored after 3 crosses. They should do it more. It was obvious that mandzukic and higuain are better than real defenders in the air.
