Seems like he's gone from vastly overrated to a bit underrated now. Still what 20? He made a big move too early but plenty of time to get back on track.
Paul Clement said himslef that Renato in training was one of the most terrrific players of the squad, but he was too anxious on the match days and eventualkly failed.

It's the standard of the league tbh - a player can look great in a league like Portugal (no disrespect as there are some great sides there) but you can't tell how a player will turn out when exposed to the top level of the game.
I don’t really agree with that. Especially since he held his own and actually outperformed the Bayern Midfield in the CL. I do get he wasn’t against top sides week in week out but the thing that stood out was his intelligence and in game awareness and to see that in someone so young was what had everyone talking about him. It wasn’t like he was scoring crazy goals or making crazy assist it was the fact that he looked the most experienced player in their midfield.

Sometimes players just seem to have an intelligence like Mbappe for example. Some are just outright flash but don’t have that understanding. Just at that time watching him that is what impressed me most about him.

Clement made a comment as well on him where he said he hadn’t realised he was so broken and low in confidence when he took him to Swansea. Hadn’t realised what a big job it was going to be to build him back up.

Has to be the worst signing of this season in the Premiership. To think many Man Utd fans actually wanted this clown.

I agree.

But the Euros will always be an anomaly and a proper mindfeck, because he was seriously good for Portugal that Summer.
No he wasn't.

He was competent, and played well enough, but if not for the hype going in to the tournament no one would have given the slightest shit about his performances.

He's another example of why you take teenage prodigies with a pinch of salt until they deliver.

I remember as teenager being so obsessed with the next big thing, the next big prospect. Nowadays I barely batter an eyelid at young 'stars', knowing fine well 95% of them turn out plain average in the end.

Yeah he needs to go back to Benfica and start again, the Bayern move was just far too early.

Moving to Swansea was also another stupid move, he clearly didn't want to be there and he's made his worth drop massively since.
The same manager who promoted him is still at Benfica, so if he stays that would make a lot of sense. Bayern could recoup some money, get a percentage of any future deal or a buyback clause.

Same as the guy who hyped up Memphis after we signed him.
NLMax! What ever happened to him? We signed Memphis and the guy vanished. He really had me convinced that we were going to end up with a Nani-level player at absolute worst. It's because of him that I've refused to buy into the hype for players I haven't watched consistently over a whole season. I got sucked in.

Wasnt he rumored to actually be Memphis?

I was right again when I was a lone priest amongst venomous thirsty bar prostitutes in the wild wild caf during euro 2016 and before that even. Also one of the first to call out Rooney when die hard reds lectured me with standard lines about form class and permanent. Now alot of these die harders mock him how he was done five years ago (right about when I started firing shots). I see very far ahead.

And people still invent stuff about how I am oftentimes wrong. They choose what to remember. Heh heh heh...

Think that’s a bit disparaging to be honest. He’s a young kid with a lot of talent who’s to say he couldn’t have flourished here? He signed for a team who were in absolute free fall. I’m willing not to be to judgmental at this stage.

Yep this is a forum my friend so the trick is to stay in the masses and you’ll be ok even if you are wrong then when the narrative slowly changes until they are agreeing with you then you can say you are correct but not before then lol.

Like I said at the time, another Anderson clone. All YouTube hype no consistency in the basics
Very harsh on Anderson. We can maybe question his attitude but not his ability. But for the injuries we'll never know what could have been. Had some absolutely terrific spells in the side for us, which is something Sanches has never managed at the top level.

He couldn’t pass water or cross a road
Quick and strong that was it. He’d be puffed out by 60mins

Dude Anderson was one hell of player (for a season though). Anybody was able to see the potential in him. Lack of commitment, positional issues and injuries derailed his career. Renato haven't done anything to be compared with him.
Kept Gerrard in his pocket, at Anfield of all places. Fabregas too, even though it his "peak" was for a season or two. He can pick a long pass too. Just a shame really.

He was blowing hard come the last 20 mins, that's for sure. I can't agree on the rest though. At all.

Passing was erratic, many of them were hit so hard you’d need rocket boots to catch up. Don’t even start me on his shooting.

What he was good at, and I’d take a fit Anderson alongside matic and Pogba now, was getting the ball deep and quickly carrying it forward. We lack that now

Players can drop their physical level and/or can suffer due to psychological, confidence reasons, but i never saw a player losing his basic skills.

I think would take a risk a top manager try to "fix" this kid. The times i saw him before he signed with Bayern i thought he was a star in the making.

You honestly think he would be flourishing under Mourinho. He is the exact opposite in what he likes in a player.

He shouldn't have left benfica in the first place. It's not so much about his football skills, it's about maturity. He came to bayern without speaking a word in english. The club hired a guy to introduce sanches to munich and the german culture - without any success. They send him to swansea which was the second mistake. Again a different environment, a different language and a different team that has its own problems. Bayern should have kept him in the bundesliga at at club like hoffenheim or stuttgart. Instead he is still totally isolated from everything and acts like a pathetic teen who doesn't care about his club at all. There is no future for him anymore in munich. Coman was the same age when he left france and joined juve. He didnt't make it there but not because he was not enough talented. He kept behaving like a professional though they had no use for him and that makes the difference in the end. Sanches is still just a kid.

Coman had Pogba in Turin. As much as I know they were very close. And in the first year in Munich Ribery's wife "adopted" him and he spent a lot time with Ribery's family. His mother spent a lot of time in Turin and Munich, too. It was the same with others - Martinez big brother moved with him to Munich as did Shaqiri's. That was/is the problem with Sanches. He's the oldest - his siblings are a lot younger and his Mom newly married. He was/is alone in Munich and Swansea. And he hardly has a school education.

He was overrated and his Euros wasn't even that good but he's better than what he's shown. Bayern should loan him back to Portugal

I never saw that talent. When I see him I think of a player who lacks fundamental aspects of football, like he's skipped serious years of development at youth level
