Nice coordinated effort from the lads who put Thuram at RCB

Ok back to the game here.

I asked crappy to tell me how he saw his team limiting maicons effect on the game and didn’t get an answer because the truth is he can’t. Boniek will not play as a left winger, and Ashley Cole will not be an advanced full back so the amount of sheer space Maicon is afforded is suicidal on crappys part. By his own admission, his 3 midfielders are playing directly against my 2 + Pele so really, so much of my play can come from Maicon who had a great tournament. He was at his peak around this time, and the conditions have.been created for him to shine, his influence from RB in this game could easily be reminiscent of Dani alves at Sevilla.

Garrincha might not be getting the credit he deserves but in this draft, neither he should when Brazil’s greatest ever player from Brazil’s greatest ever tournament is on the pitch. Pele 100% is the deciding factor here and wins this game for me.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
Look at the voters for crappy. It stinks of corruption in here
There's a few names in there that don't generally vote in these things to be fair. Have you been arguing elsewhere in the forum or something?

For the record my fellow Three Stooges and I haven't even mentioned you by name in our PM convo, preferring instead to refer to you as 'that cnut' not really, the WC performances of your respective teams seem broadly similar to me but I like the balance of Crappy's team a shade better and think he's maximised Didi/Garrincha/Kocsis really well

I'm not sure that Pele's 1970 tournament was better than Garrincha's 1962 to be fair.

Yeah I have people messing with me for sure.

I always think that when a team has a manager and AM (and in your teams case a 3rd manager) then only one should vote on other games, especially when the game you’re voting against has a guy who went all in on a stupid mistake your team made

Most of the world is pretty sure on that though, didn’t find a single list that rated garrinchas higher.

Maybe not too much from an individualistic level, but as an orchestrator of everything around him? I think it was.

“Italian defender Tarcisio Burgnich summed up Pele's magic fittingly: "I told myself before the game, he's made of skin and bones just like everyone else. But I was wrong."

I'm talking about their individual level. Of course Pele from 1970 (and probably in any version) was a better team player and orchestrator than at times overly individualistic Garrincha.

Well I've been on the receiving end of that manager/AM double whammy before so I'd have no great problem with that rule being implemented, although it'll only dilute participation levels and I seriously doubt there's that much grudge voting going on. I've been in some bloodbaths of matches against Edgar and he's voted for me the following round, so I know he's not one to hold grudges. Possibly unlike yourself right now, if that last little bitchy remark is anything to judge by :D

I guess really the fairest thing to do is give them both a 10/10 individually but I think Pele gets more out of the team here.

4 goals and 5 assists just as pure end product. Let alone his contribution apart from numbers. Also that performance in the final.

IMO only Maradona can claim having a better tournament all things considered.

Garrincha was obviously great all throughout the tournament, but I don't think he elevated the team as a whole like Pele did...

This game is over because the poll was set for 25 hours but we started discussion early enough that the regular 24 hour voting period is fair.

The score was 21-21 at the time, do we do penalties or do we go off of average pick time?

Also @crappycraperson i wasn’t insinuating that you did anything dodgy, more questioning some of the names in the voting (for both parties)

When we are talking about 2 teams built around 2 GOAT's, it should matter.
I have never seen a team built around Garrincha and crappy clearly has done a brilliant job with players like Boniek/Didi who fit really well but Pele surely deserves extra points for gelling it all together much better.

Müller scored 10 and assisted 3 in the same tournament (not saying that he was better than Pele, mind!).
Maybe it's just that I've recently rewatched a few games from 1962.

I’m still on the fence. On first look it looked like arbitrium had the better team but then reading it again I’m leaning towards Crappy more. I feel his defence is slightly superior.

In World Cup context it’s not even close. I have 3 World Cup all stars and a World Cup winning captain. He has 1 all star.

I get the feeling that sometimes the annoyed non-drafters (those who voiced their concerns about the abundance of draft threads on the main page — and I can't really blame them, I know that it isn't everybody's cup of tea) vote for someone just to create the sense of chaos

So long as they agree that Thuram should have been used at RB in a WC draft they are welcome to create the chaos

IMO Müller's tournament in 1970, along with the qualifying campaign, is right up there as well.

My point on Pele was that it was not only him gluing the whole team together but he also had an excellent end product which often gets forgotten in the grand scheme of things. Was assist leader for the tournament as well.

We're not taking the forfeit as he said he's at a bar he's most likely pissed and I'm king of pissed up posting in these drafts. He'll probably forget it by the morning and want to know if he's won or not.
