Could be watching any player to be fair. Or maybe he’s just there because he will be working for Russian TV during the World Cup.
You might be right on the Russia TV pundit stuff. But who else should he be watching?

Has it feck, it's not like he's a player that needs scouting Mourinho had him at Inter and sees him every week in the PL
Why not? It would show how he plays in a different team to West Ham. Mourinho doesnt know this. The player he had at Inter was just a youngster

Wouldn't mind him here but 50m is actually an insane price.

Right Mourinho never saw him at Stoke then?

I have that feeling that Mou want Arnautovic to be a starter. He's been complaining about a lack of presence is the box and it's obvious we need an option on the right. Arnautovic ticks both boxes. I'm all for this if we can get him for a decent price.

Never thought I might see him in a United shirt when Werder were desperate to get rid of him. Betting on that probably would've gotten you similar odds as Leicester's title win.

So I'm guessing Juve said no when we enquired about Mandzukic.

WH paid £25m for him, hes been good for them, and he has 4 years on his contract, so if the rumours are true, there's no way he's leaving for anything near £30m.
I think this is what drives the figure up from what folks here think is reasonable. I'd say in this market £35m would be fair.

Pricey for sure, but considering Jose actually worked with the player at Inter means he already knows what value he adds. He has also seen the player deliver his most mature season at West Ham so perhaps it's a sign Jose thinks he's ready for such a move.

You don't think he has access to videos of every single second of every single game if he wanted them
Not quite the same as the videos wouldn't be concentrated on Arnautovic all the time and there's the not so small issue of Mourinho focusing on us during the season. Seeing him in the flesh where he can focus on the one player and how he plays in a different team probably suits Mourinho.

Your video argument works for other players like Perisic who he watched in the flesh too and was a confirmed target.

He’s starting as one of 2 holding midfielders according to sky sports lineup. It is going to a fellaini replacement.... I also seem to recall Jose talking some crap last summer when West Ham signed him that they were signing players to challenge for the league!

He's been watching Arnataovic all season. I doubt he's gone all the way to watch the match just to watch him again.

Why’ve we just assumed it’s for Arnautovic?

What an underwhelming signing this would be! He only played well in the second half of the season and all of a sudden he is valued at £50 million.

Probably because this is the Arnautovic thread. ;)

I don't see who else he would be watching though. Grillitsch?!
Alright I’ll rephrase. Why’s everyone flocked to the Arnautovic thread, with the title being changed and the caf tweeting about it, because Mou is at the game?

I don’t know, probably anyone but Arnautovic?

Relax everyone, Mou is watching David Alaba
I actually thought the same...

Arnautovic is a ploy to watch Alaba, who can then introduce Mou to Baumgartlinger who will, in turn, facilitate a meeting with 'the alpine messi' Shaqiri... oops back to the Shaqiri thread!

Mourinho goes to games throughout the season regularly. He was pictured 2 or 3 times last season going to games both in the UK and abroad.

He went to watch Perisic last season in a friendly well before the end of the season.

During a national break and we were after him. Not really seen him go to games during the season that don't feature an opponent we're soon to play.

That was while mentioning Chicharito :D

Any other player from Austria (or Russia) he could be watching? Maybe this rumour started when journalists came to know that Jose had arrived to watch the game?

That was the point. Mourinho going to scout a player in the transfer window itself is far fetched. It leaves very little time to actually get the player. If this was for scouting purposes he would have gone earlier.

Looks like this transfer will last a couple months. We’re not paying the £50m and they are not selling for anything less than £30m.

Would have been a clear signing on the cheap though. Doesn’t look like good business anything above £20m.

He is an experienced backed option to Lukaku. I would not say no this purchase. Rashford does not look like he will develop into a striker at the moment.
Arnautovic isn't a striker and never has been, his ratio is abysmal! Why are everyone talking like he's a striker!?
