The problem as far as Liverpool go is that none of these signings actually do anything at all to address the issues they have with their team/squad.

Fabinho and Fekir are just replacing people that have left, which obviously you need to do, but from what I've seen of Fabinho he isn't going to be a significant upgrade. Fekir I know nothing about which is strange if he is apparently so good. Keita will need time to bed in I think...especially if you're signing two other midfielders from over seas at the same time. It's actually a pretty big risk as there is going to be a teething period even if they all live up to expectations in the long run.

Meanwhile, what was costing Liverpool games last year i.e. the inability to not leak goals whenever the opposition cross the half way line, and the inability to score them when the opposition don't cross the halfway line, is being helped in no way at all.

What they need is better defenders/defensive players, and a striker or someone to give them a different option when they can't get in behind the opposition. Something that allows them to win the games they didn't this season. They're not going to out do Manchester City by just trying to get better at what they're already good at. They already win basically every game where they're allowed to play to their strengths.
Agree, they are replacing Coutinho, Can.

The problem would be if the midfield of Fabinho, Keita and Fekir does well... they will have a great midfield for the years to come.

Highly worrying when you put it on paper, shit.

They are talented players. But Liverpool just bought an entire new midfield from outside of the PL. They could take a while to get adapted or never adapt at all. It won’t be straightforward in my opinion.

Seems like a breakthrough has been made and he could sign before the WC starts after all. Some reports say it'll be done as soon as tomorrow but don't really believe it's possible that to it that quickly.

Still, would be a great addition and one less position Liverpool would have to address after the WC. GK and CB next priorities.

Don't see anything concrete and it seems no fee is agreed?

Also read Shaqiri is happening for 12m.

Shaqiri isn’t an alternative to Fekir. Fekir is seen as Coutinho’s replacement with Shaqiri a cheap squad option.

Chamberlain’s injury means we probably need another option, and Lallana’s not going to get any better so Shaqiri makes sense.

His buy out clause is ridiculously low. Not sure what Stoke were thinking with that.

Indeed, low risk high reward buy at £12 and he's only 26 years old, seems like he's been around forever. Good squad option to have and he definitely won't expect a starting place in our front three.

He'll score an obligatory screamer for Switzerland this WC but luckily that won't affect an eventual fee should the deal go through. I think the £12m might be a release clause in case Stoke went down or something like that.

Shaqiri is the classic 6 week cheap pick that scores a bunch of points on FF but the moment you pick him, nothing! :houllier:

Latest on Fekir from Lyon’s president is that they don’t want to discuss his sale until after the World Cup which makes sense.

Have to hope he doesn’t attract any interest during the tournament.

If he wants to sign for us I think we’ll get him, but we’ll have to wait a bit.

If Martial and Fekir are commanding a similar fee, I think it's a no brainer that we should try and get ourselves into the running for Fekir. He'd offer a similar level of quality, only with better workrate and in a position where we have a gap.

The reason why the deal is apparently going through now is because he wants to play for Liverpool and Klopp.

If he is not interested in hearing what Bayern etc have to say, why would he care about United given the current negativity surrounding their attacking play?

Liverpool represent a very attractive option right now. There is no denying that.

Fekir has gone on record as saying that United are a dream club and that he'd like to play in the PL. Bayern aren't as glamorous as us, nor is the BL as prestigious a competition as the Premier League.

The crying and the gnashing of teeth about our football has mostly come from 'fans' on the internet. We're getting there, and any decent footballer should be able to see that.

Feck are you his agent?
Journos are saying it is at standstill on twitter. He is right, the deal isn't going through now as Goochy put it. The Bloody Nine doesn't mean that the deal won't eventually go through though.

Correct. It might happen eventually but both agent and chairman have said nothing is happening until after the World Cup.

Which is a smart move, given that a bigger club with a bigger bid may come in if he impresses. This is also why Liverpool would prefer it be done now.

Fekir to Liverpool fee agreed at € 65m + € 7m of bonuses (Bilel Ghazi from l'equipe)

Looks like Lyon got a good amount for him.

I mean among the current top 3 attackers - Firminho, Salah, Mane. All of them can't play.
Only possible way would be:

Keita. Fabinho.
Salah. Fekir. Mane.
Firmino

Far to attacking but against the smaller teams it’s one hell of a threat.

Fekir is best as a 10 though! No point buying him and using him anywhere else.

Liverpool are building a good squad of players. They will do well next season. It'll be interesting to see if Salah can keep up his goalscoring prowess after the world cup. I expect Egypt to be knocked out soon so he'll probably have his rest.

They are a CB and a GK away from a very good team, quite annoying!

That's a pretty big fee. That's almost 120m for two players for Klopp. Can't really just keep on finishing top4 now with spending this type of money.

Klopp doesn't like to spend big, he prefers to train what he has.

They are building something special. Brand new midfield of Fabinho, Keita and Fekir looks very interesting. Whatever the final result, they will probably be the best team to watch at least.

Feck. Another great signing for them. They'll have some midfield and attack next season.

Mane firmino salah
Fekir Keita
Fabinho
Have to say it's class on paper. Hopefully they leave their keeper and defence a mess though.

Why are you lads putting him in as part of midfield three? The last match i watched him for France he almost played as a forward(as a number 10 in diamond)
