Guys if the refree pipes, VAR can't be used. That's a rule that the football fans wanted.

Wow. That shot about to curl in was bringing back memories of the Iran goal in 2014.

Messis better at that curling shot from outside the box then he is at penalties.

Oh please, Ronaldo has the drive to take care and work his body to perfection. Maradona was a cokehead during his playing days. There's also his height.
Maradona had the heart and courage to carry the entire nation. It isn't drive for success like Ronaldo but works the same way, although for a much briefer spell.

Those two bald dudes were outstanding for Iceland. The captain and that other CM who is still on the pitch.

I swear there seems to be about 30 players on the pitch in the Argentina vs Iceland game.

Very little contact, don't think it was enough for him to go down. I don't like the underwritten rule these days that any contact is a penalty, therefore I like the decision of the ref to not call it despite evidence of that slight touch.
It would've been very soft and you'd be fuming if City got one for that against United.
this is what makes a mockery of VAR tbh. You are at the mercy of someone's opinion. We've seen var used today and people say it was the right decision while others say is wasn't. Are we any better off with var at all?

Argentina against a wall, so it is very difficult. With Banega in the field I think they could play without Mascherano for a while.
In any case there is little mobility, it is all too predictable and Messi is trying again and again the same play by the middle.
I have to admit that I do not know where Pavón plays. Why Pavón and not Dybala?

Have to say, don't know why Sampaoli started with Biglia and also waited this long to bring Hugain on. Iceland have barely attacked all half. Croatia and Nigeria will attack more than them.

Yes, informed opinion is better than uninformed opinion

This is my problem with it.

Everyone kept banging on about removing controversy, which will never happen.

You must be very confused right now, having been given a Portuguese, a French and a Polish name for the ref.
Well I've never seen in the Portuguese league and he doesn't look like a cnut so he can only be a Pole.

Well the purpose of VAR is to reverse the blatant wrong decisions, such as offsides or clear penalties. Through the decision here you can gauge that it wasn't a clear cut penalty so VAR has nothing to do with that call.
