The amount of space Mexico has on the counter attack is incredible, a lack of DM so apparent.

Mexico were having all their chances from left and got the goal from that side too. Lahm was rock solid in defence first and foremost and went to support the attack at the right time. Kimmich is nothing like Lahm.
but hey do know how to time performances at the WC

This is the same squad that made the semis at Euro 16 and a large core of the squad from the 2014 winning team are still here. Granted some players like Muller have been on a poor run of form this season but they're still players in their prime years.
They just don't seem as good to me, at least in this match.

If Mexico dont make another one of these counters count they'll be punished.

Some Mexico players can’t see the picth for shit, could have been easily been up by few more with a bit more vision on the counters.

Why is Hummels constantly up in midfield? He's too slow for that.
Hes probably thinking because there is currently nobody there in midfield pretty much. Massive holds in the midfield and defense.

The Mexicans are playing the only way they should against Germany. Aggressive and not backing down at all.

So far it's a complete confirmation of our lukewarm showings from the last friendlies. This won't do at all.

What is Kimmich up to? Mexicans have run up that side with no pressure about 10 times now.

Don’t say Muller has been poor. You’d get a group of Bayern supporters after you.

Germany did seem to wake up once Mexico scored. A 1 goal lead might not be enough, Mexico need to continue pressing like maniacs and try to keep up the pressure.

As good as Mexico have been they can’t keep this tempo up surely. They need to capitalise on those counters as soon as possible in the second half or they’ll wither away.

Germans are too slow in the back and midfield, Boateng, Hummels, Kroos and Khedira, all very slow and struggling to catch the counters. They'll get even more exposed against better teams.

Mexico will probably tire a bit + natural reaction to start dropping deeper if they're still leading with 20 minutes left. They can certainly get a second before those tactics kick in though.

Poor match up for Germany so far, really struggled against Mexico's counter attacks so imagine teams like Brazil, France and Spain have noted this with much interest.

Me too. Early days but it already has the potential to be a classic WC?

The only downside is when BBC have the game and Phil Neville is commentating (like today). He is a dreadful co commentator... actually tempted to turn the sound down and listen to Talksport (!)

This must have been our worst 45 minutes at a world cup in this whole century.
