But even if he’s only 80% fit will they start him, just for the psychological lift?
Unlikely. It would risk aggravation further. If anything he's more likely to be brought on as a sub if necessary. But anything's possible and he still yet may start.

During the commentary on last nights game they were talking about how everyone in Croatia, or more specifically, the media all think Croatia must make at least the semi-finals, and the talk is how easy that side of the draw is. Disgusting arrogance.

How very dare they. I for one am sick of teams playing in this world cup who think they might get to the semis. Who do they think they are?

I think a lot of the English fans have a point about being unfairly called arrogant. At the same time they’re incredibly whiny about it. Cymru am byth.

I’m still supporting England though, so they’ll probably win the whole thing now

It's easy to like this English team - but England fans? The entirety of England in general after Brexit and the continental bashing that ensued? Blech.

Torn because I have English friends and the Spurs players I hope do well (Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane!) ... but not sure I can take the "it's coming home crowd" at all.
I find it ludicrous that you can support an English club but not like the English.

"The entirety of England in general after Brexit."

Is that the 52% or the 48%? Or only the silly faction of the 48%? Who are these awful human beings worthy of criticism on a Manchester United forum?

What a fecking whopper.

The players definitely feel the pressure, but I doubt they spend their free time in Russia reading Caf and getting worked up, plotting the easiest route to the final, losing concentration against Colombia.

If I had a team to support in this tournament, I would have started plotting scenarios before the first match. First about getting out of the group, then hoping for the easiest way forward. That's what fans do. Might as well call all United fans arrogant when we speak about going far in CL before the season has started. Would be weird to expect the English to keep quiet while even Russia and Japan are hopeful. Only times I've seen arrogance here are by one or two posters who totally disregard Colombia as an opponent, without even being able to type the name of the nation right, other than that, I don't see a problem. Maybe they've gotten their act together as well by now, as most know by now that there won't be any easy games at this stage.

Also, the whole "why do you support an English club if you hate England" talk is not arrogance, that's just stupidity and stupidity is also common among fans of every team.

What an obnoxious post.

Which country are you from, so I can start hating it for no reason?

From now on when Mancs look at the fixture list and talk about expected points from games I can point out their scummy arrogance.

.
You joke but Kane was saying how much time he spent on social media during the last euros, so the players do look at stuff online.

Hopefully this year they’re staying far away from it.

Also, fwiw, It's Coming Home is a firmly tongue-in-cheek, self-effacing song. The lyrics talk about how "we still believe" (ie. faith in the absence of reason) and reference our numerous failures.

Taking it seriously says more about the listener than the English fans themselves. British sense of humour and all that. The Scottish said they were going to win the '78 World Cup, too.

When a smaller team hears England talking about being 'good' it's mistakenly taken as arrogance. But the reality is that we're talking about being 'good' in relation to the big teams, when we know we're not. It's an undesired shifting in context which we can't legislate for.

To think I looked at our run in of fixtures for the new season, on the off chance we’re in the title race. I can’t believe I could be so arrogant really.

England can't support their team because they speak English and non-supporters might understand their hopefulness. It's the downside of having the Lingua Franca as their native language whilst simulataneously being half-decent.

England also have the benefit of resting pretty much the whole first team against Belgium. Which some teams like Croatia didnt have the luxury of doing. That could be why the looked laboured.
Croatia had the luxury of being able to rest their entire first team against Iceland, they just chose not to do so.

Why didn’t we beat belgium to get this simple game with momentum, looking so simple for belgium and we arrogantly wasted it.

Would be if you hadn't won the league since 1966.

2010 was terrible. Three awful group performances and a capitulation against Germany. 2006 was very disappointing too given the talent they sent.

England fans are getting a bad wrap it seems. They are hardly arrogant and as was pointed out the "It's coming home" is somewhat of a piss take and England fans definitely seem to poke the most fan at their own side than any other country it seems to me.

You'd be dumb to not get a little exited looking at the draw and pretty miserable to just assume it's arrogance that they are excited. They will be the favorite in every match until the final.

I’ve not actually spoken to anyone who genuinely believes we will easily beat Colombia tomorrow. Everyone knows they’re a good team who can easily put us out but we also like to sing that it’s coming home because it’s fecking coming home lads.
