I don't see anything exceptional in this player. Don't know why so much hype about him. His positioning in penalty box is very good, but in everything else he is average. Most of his goals are tap in. Not saying that he is bad player or something like that, but he is nowhere near to some top class strikers

Reminds me of Hernandez. That's far from a dig, I loved Hernandez he could always get you a goal. He was johnny on the spot too many times for it to be a coincedence. Jesus is the same. But he lacks the tools to be a top, top player.

Thought he was a skilful player in Brazil. A bit disappointed to see he's a poacher.

Clips from his Palmeiras days show a very skilled and technical player with flair. Now he looks like a glorified Chicharito.

I find it amazing that anyone who's watched him play for City would call him a poacher. Like Pep would have a poacher lead the line. He is very good at the build up.

He's more than a poacher but at City he doesn't get involved in the build up as much as he would like I'd say same for Brazil.

At City both himself and Aguero (mostly Pep adapting to Kun) have to stretch teams, same for Jesus with Brazil. Their job is to push teams back and make space for attacking midfielders. At City he pushes so far forward to make space for Silva and KDB.

He plays ahead of Firminio for Brazil for exactly the same reason, because he can stay on the should and play Chicarito or Romario like and push CB's back, creating a bigger gap between CB's and midfield and allowing Neymar space when he comes inside. He is also strangely more interchangable with Neymar, there are spells in the game (usually when Brazil are on the back foot a little) where Neymar almost goes in as a false 9 and Jesus is pushed out to left wing.

There were times in the last match particularly towards the end where Brazil went with Neymar and Coutinho/Firminio up front and Jesus did a decent job at left sided midfield (mainly because Coutinho was tired and Neymar wouldn't track back.) But his versatility is a big part of why Tite seems to prefer him to Firminio up top (watch him get dropped for Bobby tonight now I said that.)

He will start today as will Fernandinho instead of Casemiro who is suspended.

He's still young with plenty of time to improve and add things to his game but I have to say I just don't see it with him. He'll never be a world class striker who's going to score 25+ goals a season imo. Jesus should not be starting ahead of Firminho. Brazil play much better with Firminho up front.

At 19, He starts for two teams with an embarrassment of riches in attack. He has to have something about him.

Having a dreadful tournament and the main reason a very talented Brazil team are struggling to break teams down. If they had a top front man they’d be clear favourites to win it given what they have behind him. I’d start firmino, but Jesús is the type of player who could get a goal or two despite being poor

Jesus is not the reason Brazil is struggling to break opposition defenses down. That's insane.

Brazil will go as far as their main man, Neymar, will take them. And so far he's had a mediocre tournament. Spent more time on the floor than actually playing.

Regardless of who you rate to be the better striker, thinking that a straight swap of Jesus for Firmino (who did not impress for Brazil in qualifiers) elevates this team to another level is nonsense. So is the idea that Jesus is a poacher, which no one who watched City this season would say with a serious face.

To play devils advocate how would he do without all the silver plate service he gets?
Will let you know when he gets some.
On second thoughts he got some at Palmeiras and scored a bucketful of goals at 18.

Said it before, but hes so fecking overrated. Hes a good player, sure, but at his best hes pretty much the same as Hernandez at his best. Cant even say a glorified Chicharito for him, it's just all that he is IMO. A poacher with good off the ball movement but you dont want him doing anything other then finishing while on the ball. Average dribbler, average touch, below average passing, nothing faster then what Chicha was either.

If anything I think the reason Pep likes him more then Aguero is because of his off the ball movement, he doesn't get involved much in the build up at all. Definitely a poacher how he plays for them. Sure he can get involved in other things, chicharito got involved in other aspects for United at times too, but hes still a poacher.

Had an horrendous tournament. I thought tite should have benched him and brought him as a super sub. He was putting too much pressure on a 20 year old kid to lead the line. Tite missed a trick here by not playing costa and firminho

Did he even score a goal? Shocking display from Brazil's starting CF.

He was a bit shite, wasn't he? Was among Brazil's worst players each match. They always looked much better when he was subbed off for Firmino.

He wasn't ready for the pressure it seems. Should have plaued Firminho as first choice in all their games. Not the best of tournaments, but he's young and has a few more World Cups in him.

I feel bad for him. He gonna get shit from the Brazilian media and probably gonna cost Tite his job (I’m praying that doesn’t happen). He young so I believe he can atone for this.

Tite should have gone with him and Costa from the start.

Another player being made to look better than he is by Pep. Did nothing of note in the world cup despite getting more minutes than others.

He should have but I understand why he didn’t. Jesus was lacking in confidence and I think a goal would of help but after 2 games Tite should of pulled the trigger.

Or another no 9 stagnated under Pep. He was promising earlier even for City, but got worse over time. Pep and no 9 not mixing well is not something new.

Edit: just get back few page and see how highly rated he was by people here. You must be in another forum to think he has been doing well even for City

Someone should tell Aguero because he's just had his two most prolific seasons back to back.
