Today I'm proud to be English and so should all those football fans up and down the country united by a band of brothers, it's not about Liverpool, City, Spurs or United Fans or players .....its about Team England

Why?

Not because it's coming home but because most other international fans will never truly understand the years and decades of hurt so if we over celebrate and over react to an exceptionally professional performance by our National Team ...then so be it!

Please just let us enjoy this moment and Ps I still think Wythenshaw's Marcus Rashford is going to have a very big moment in this World Cup.

I'm talking about on here, wind your neck in!
The problem is that no one on here is talking about it. That’s fecking sad, as a United fan, I’m happy to see you through. But why is no one even criticising the behaviour of English fans in Russia. It’s just a game, and jumping on cars is justified on here because England is doing well. That would be unacceptable for any other team.

What, exactly, are you going on about? I've just googled world news and I see some skirmishes involving fans from various nations, but nothing really major. So please do enlighten us?
Hmm, I guess you haven’t seen any of the clips of English fans jumping on cars.

Probably surprise a lot of people in saying this what with being Irish but I'm supporting Englands demise in the semi-final.

The jingoism from the media is stomach turning.

In all seriousness though, they're looking decent. Pickford is ridic this world cup.

Everton can demand whatever they want when Chelsea/City come in for him.

Pelters? Have you seen any international fan using physical violence against the English in Russia?

The fact that you of defend some English fans’ behaviour in Russia is incredible. ”Pelters”, feck me.
There's been trouble in Russia?

But but but, surely the English did something bad! If we can't laugh at them yet we should at least be able to tell them off. Get back in your box and stop celebrating.

I have seen several clips of English fans smashing cars in Russia. I’ll truly say sorry if they were fake, but I doubt it.
I was only thinking today it's been a really quiet world cup. Genuinely haven't seen any clips of anybody from any nation misbehaving.

Having said that it's still feck all to do with the team

Where? I've been looking and all I've found is a video of a couple of idiots doing it in Kent, England for a laugh and falling off.

There's nothing of any hooliganism in Russia, so you can see why I'd ask. Especially since you straight away went on a rant about how we don't care. None of us even seem to bloody know!

Are you referring to that one group of about 5 fans that jumped on a car?

Yeah, a couple of guys jumping on a car and then also a clip of a guy on top of a wagon. These guys were definitely British but maybe they fake, and if so I apologize.

To be fair, I no longer want any home nation or Ireland to do well anymore. It's obvious how much they all hate England so what's the point.

I found it hilarious when they all failed to qualify.

Dude, if it's true then it sucks and we should all condemn it. I'd go so far as to say that it could well be, it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

But, surely you can see the problem here. You've gone on in two threads about English hooligans, yet have provided us with not a shred of proof. What makes it worse is you claim we don't seem to care, or are somehow avoiding talking about it. Do you get what might be wrong about that?

So provide us with some links and we'll talk about it. But you really shouldn't judge people off the cuff.

He's not going to link because it's bullshit. He's had ample opportunity to do so and hasn't. Time to apologise.

Not lying, I saw clips of English fans jumping on cars, and a cop wagon. I haven’t found the links, so they might be fake. And if so, I truly apologise.

The one with the guy jumping the car isn't I don't think. Some of his mates start banging on the bonnet and one of them decides to do a somersault onto the bonnet which smashes the window. But you are talking about 5 fans in 30000. A polish poster posted it the other day but I quickly found some Poles having a much more serious fight with some Senegalese fans, although they were in Antwerp watching at a public space if the youtube comments are supposed to be believed.

That said, England does still have a residual problem with hooliganism and general loutish behaviour when drunk. Thing is though, at events like the World Cup, you have Twitter accounts like the one the tweet was posted from the other day spreading around every single thing that England fans do wrong in a concerted effort to smear the image of England. I posted one of that accounts other tweets to illustrate the mentality of some of the dregs of that faction.

It happens dude. But you need to have a little think in future, you basically accused us all of ignoring it when none of us are even aware anything happened. I've even looked into it on world media outlets, and there's nothing of any real note.

So maybe in future you should ask and engage in conversation before blanket slamming and entire forum of people? Also, there's arseholes all over the world, not just English. People from everywhere can get incredibly loutish and stupid when drunk, not just English. The narrative is somewhat deserved, don't get me wrong, but let's be genuine and fair about it.

haha fair enough. I hate the phrase proud to be [insert home country here].

You can be proud of whatever you want, I just think that phrase doesn't make sense. I don't really mind it in sport, it gets on my nerves when politics comes into play though.
Thanks for clearing up that confusion...

Me too mate but ironically according to some folk on here, being English and all, I have a constant sense of dread about it all. So I'm just sitting back and letting what happens happen. It's nice to think we've got a chance for once, but I certainly won't be getting all giddy about it! ;)

You have got a great chance to win it, mate. Either way, it will be WC to remember.

Can't actually believe they're actually gonna reach the World Cup final. If they lose, which they probably will, they shouldn't cry, they've overachieved.

In Croatia or Russia, they're getting 2 teams that are completely drained now.

You missed the lemon-sucking-fest mate, that was earlier.

Save it for when England blow it in the semis.

Indeed.

You cannot be proud of the fact that, by chance, you were born within certain borders. I'm far from being a left-wing, open-borders, no nations person. But national pride is utter nonsense and potentially dangerous.

I agree, they don't realise how pathetic they all sound. I'm English and I've been a huge cynic of the England national team in the past but now is the time to be proud of them.

Completely the opposite for me. We’re usually going to a tournament with 3-4 ‘superstars’ and 2-3 douchbags I can’t stand (Terry, Gerrard etc) that let the country down every time.

This squad is young, has its own style and I like the chemistry the players have. I also like our underdog status it suits the squad.
Superstars and "douchebags" is exactly what makes a team interesting. I supported England against Sweden (cause Sweden is even duller) but I'll be firmly in the Croatia camp for the semi-final for that reason.

It's not pathetic, it's football. This is how fans view their rivals. I'm sure plenty of English fans would take pleasure in watching Argentina or Germany lose, especially if they were immersed in Argentinian/German media hype in the same way Welsh, Scottish and Irish football fans are.

If anything people have had an unusually kind attitude towards England in this world cup.
