Day 25: France vs. Belgium SF

I don't think Belgium played shite or that any of their players underperformed, they created good chances, controlled for long period of times but France defense was solid and Lloris had a great game. Though Courtois was also in good form.

KdB played a bit desperate but the one thing I rated from that boring France team was how they marked him out of the game. Shame the ref didn’t give them that obvious free kick at the edge of the box near the end..
 
Lukaku simply doesn't show up when you absolutely need him. That is just his theme.
 
Hazard, de Bruyne save their worst performance of the season for biggest game. Feel sorry for Lukaku.

Hazard had an easy pass to him for a goal but went for glory and missed the target.

It was like those 3 just don't get on at all. Has there been previous issues between them?

Some sort of incident when all at Chelsea?

Really? I can remember only a single chance from Belgium, in the first minutes, when Hazard bottled it. They produced nothing else all game. And actually, Courtois was partly responsible for the goal.

Basically both teams were bad, but Belgium was nonexistent.

Nobody will remember this semifinal. It was one of the worse games in this World Cup. I want my money back!
 
Weird that Martinez went all hipster and changed what was working pretty well tactically VS Brazil as well.

He respected this France team and the occasion too much I fell.

And the tactic change particularly affected De bruyne and lukaku badly. Hazard was also too deep many times.
 
The prick from the press basically saying "Yeah, if you tell us everything we want to hear, we'll be lovely to you".:lol:
 
Really controlled performance from the boys, I didn't even break a sweat after the goal. Only one more game...

He made that choice himself, what happened to Brazil when they always had great players? My second team after Portugal and I think you guys could win this world cup but missing Casemiro was the key plus a lot of luck from Belgium 26 to 3 shots.....
 
Our 100m striker was disappointing today. He's not good enough, as much as I want to support him..it's so hard to when he puts up performances like that.

France was defensively solid.
KdB and Hazard didn't play well.
Belgium lost 1-0

Lukaku haters : rubs hands "hehehe now I can talk shite about him on the matchday thread!! that'll teach him"

I'm sure He goes back home crying, not because They lost the semi final but because He reads RedCafe.
 
I thought France weren’t boring at all. Nice interplay, decent build up, controlled it after the initial Belgium phase. Didn’t break a sweat after going up. As good as it gets for a semi. A proper balanced team which can go up a few gears in the coming decade.
 
Belgium back to playing like a team of strangers showing up on a Sunday morning for a astroturf game.

Martinez is the biggest chancer in the game. Shown up tonight. No plan and subs crap.

French are equally as bad. Any of the 3 remaining could win it.
 
After watching that I feel the tournament is now more winnable than anytime throughout for England, but I wouldn’t want to concede first to France and be behind in the second half.
 
France - Croatia would be great but I dont mind France - England too!
 
Don't know why people are saying Hazard was bad? He was the only one who really showed up for Belgium. Was impossible to stop at times and later dropped deep even doing some of KDB job better than him.

Yeah, I thought he was really good and I thought KDB stunk up the joint. Surprised to see KDB getting a pass despite being the creator and Lukaku - who had next to no service is getting all the stick.
 
People saying Lukaku 'not good enough'.
What do you expect him to do? Drop into midfield and start pinging balls in for himself?
I concede there was one chance towards the end where he should have troubled the keeper but KDB and Hazard were largely nullified throughout tonight.

One bad game from the whole team and you wrongly price him at 100m and conclude he's not good enough. Ok.
 
I thought Hazard showed up. Kevin de Bruyne is much better than he showed tonight, he really played badly minus a couple of decent moments.

If we get past Croatia I don't hold much hope for us vs. this French team.

Having said that I've watched most of the French games this tournament and they are dire to watch. A soulless yet unstoppable juggernaut.
