the World Cup has had him produce mature, disciplined performances which has driven his team to now win the WC. Will we see him continue this form for United?

Sneaking suspicion that we may see 3 weeks now of Madrid, Barca and Juventus sniffing around

They had a crisis meeting after the Australia game. He responded well to it.

If he has someone like Kante and Matuidi doing the defensive work - sure.

Paul Pogba.... coming back to Manchester as a world cup winner.

No chance.

Pogba has done so much defensive work himself this tournament.

It’s just about finding the balance, I think Fred is going to help a lot as he is a high energy player which will help both Pogba and Matic.

I hope so. This tournament has transformed him. Hopefully Fred will allow him to thrive in much the same way that Kante has.

He's had to do his fair share of defensive work, especially in these last 2 games, and he's still been able to influence the game in an attacking sense too, no excuses really.

Mourinho needs to build midfield and more important gameplan around him next season.

Also needs to sign Mbappe to chase down those passes....;)

He'll be full of confidence and maybe even Jose will try more to play to Pogba's strengths now that he has shown his class.

That's a myth. Pogba has covered lot of distance and was involved in more defensive work than Matuidi and after finals probably more than Kante too if we go per game as Kante played one game more.

Pogba had a brilliant allround world cup, both defensively and in creating chances and spreading play. From 50th min, Kante was subbed out and it didn't stop Pogba playing as good as he was.

Question is do we want to see a disciplined Pogba at Man Utd, he's been excellent in this WC but he's certainly played with the hand break on while we've been building to give him a free role

Griezmann, amongst others in the France squad, has criticized Pogba for his positioning and tendency to over complicate play, and he's taken it to heart. Hopefully he can keep the same focus going into our season.

We can only hope so. He's often said himself though that he plays a different role for United, perhaps Mourinho will respond in kind and change what he's asking Pogba to do?

It depends on Jose and his tactics. This is the Pogba we saw at Juventus. How do we unlock that? Jose

Mourinho needs to gain his trust back. That's all it is. Pogba isn't a difficult person. We're not talking about a narcissistic Neymar here.
He's an easy personality to get the best out of. Jose needs to put his fecking ego in a box and work with the player, not try to undermine him or play stupid mind games.

Could go one of two ways and I hope this pushes him to duplicate the success domestically.

Well done Paul, great tournament.

Don't think his performances have anything to do with maturity. More about relative quality. He isn't relied upon to do everything at France in the way he is at United. He has the skill to do it all but he doesn't seem to relish the responsibility. Much better in a limited role.

If Sanchez can take on the creative burden that Griezmann does then it'll make a huge difference. I think we can put to bed this idea that he's lazy, at least. It's not that he does too little it's that he tries to do too much.

Edit - Also to say, footballers are spoilt little bastards nowadays, but even they need to be able to trust in the person leading them i.e. the manager. Otherwise you get feck all good performance from them.

He wasn’t ‘immature’ last season. He had some poor games that was totally blown out of proportion by the media and Mourinho being Mourinho and getting the hump with his best player and benching him for totally inferior footballers.

6 goals and 10 assists from central midfield last season - with some excellent performances in big games. Arsenal and City away instantly come to mind. I think he was quite good against Tottenham at home too.

He just has these bizarre double standards and overblown expectations thrust upon him.

France did well once Pogba stopped d*cking around with the ball .

For all the talk of dislike of Jose's game plan , it's a pretty similar tactical plan that sees France win. Wonder if that will change Pogbas perspective

I hope so. He’s shown this tournament what he’s capable of on a consistent basis & he’s played with maturity.

But it also helps when he has forward players with pace & movement.

I can't see him leaving, not this summer anyway. No one around could really afford him right now. If he wants out, he'd have to run his contract right down or a another club would need to bend us over with a lowball offer when he's got just 12 months left. 2 years in to a 5 year deal, playing a key role in winning the World Cup, and given the way the market has become more and more ridiculous since he signed for us, he's worth double what we signed him for at this very moment.

The signs are good, World Cup winner, arguably player of the tournament, shown maturity and tactical discipline. I think this will be the making of him and he'll really push on and fulfill his potential.

Exactly.

The player only leaves if United say so.

Good point. Not sure why people can't see this? France do whatever it takes to win, ugly or not.

The only person holding Pogba back is himself.
