I don't think it's bollocks. As a die hard United fan, I have a very very very bad feeling about this season. I haven't felt this bad about an upcoming season since Moyes. I just think this season has disaster written all over it. Depending on how Arsenal do under their new manager, I'm saying 5th or 6th. Minimum of 25 points behind the eventual champions (City or Chelsea)

Hope the lads prove me wrong.

Any concrete sources? Who left from the staff?
It's clear they don't. He takes shots at them in every interview. I think the Glazer's are just happy to accept a top 4 place, and keep the profits coming in. Jose, love him or hate him, is a fecking serial winner, he won't accept that.

Re third season, in Mourinho's first stint at Chelsea, they were actually on course for the quadruple until the first week of May 2007. With Essien playing at right back.

I'm sick and tired about reading about a famous 3rd year meltdown. I get it when media pushes it, they want it to happen so it can gain clicks, reads whatever. Jose losing the dressing room has been a story from last year and every monologue of which there were few tbh is treated like a beginning of a meltdown.

What is worse is that some of our fans are repeating it non stop as if they can't wait for it to happen so we can get rid of him. There are posts like he'll be out by Christmas and so on like it's a good thing if he goes earlier. I tell you what, I'd rather we'll be in a title race come Christmas and even if we dont win it that we'll be in the mix than to start over at half season with god knows who.

Maybe it will be just a problem with a result and if we get top 4 Ed will want to get rid or Jose will step down. But that talk about meltdowns. Even at Chelsea and Madrid it wasn't all his fault what happened and he's not some evil guy who just brakes everything around him and acts like a lunatic. Did he have a fair share of mistakes and stupid decisons? Sure. But some of the stuff written and said is ridiculous.

In any case he has certainly mellowed over the years. In Italy and in Spain he was arguing with everyone under the sun. Now he doesn't do that, he's a lot calmer. But that's a problem too cause you know what, he doesn't smile... He is in good relations with Benitez, Pep, but now he will inevitably have his famous meltdown and will 'combust' and destroy the club and everything it stands for.
Meltdown coming soon. Jose at odds with Woodward. Incomplete transfer window. Players wanting out. Mourinho unhappy with his squad. Our rivals look stronger than us. I'll can only see us fighting for top 4 this season.

With two weeks left we need a LB, CB, RW. If we can get 1 or 2 in before the window closes it might give us more of a chance.

Yep, all the stars are aligning and a lot sooner than expected.

- Jose dropping hints about being unhappy about the transfer situation.
- Fans unhappy with the same.
- Rumours of players wanting out.
- RUmours about the board not being entirely happy with Jose, his targets or the situation.
- Dreadful pre-season tour so far.....

Unsure how this improves in the space of 3 weeks, to be honest.

Why am I getting the impression some of you are happy at the thought of this?
I doubt that mate. Happy that we'll probably be struggling? No one wants that if they support the club. But you must admit Jose's negativity is not helping here.

To be honest I can’t wait till we are rid of him but agree with the i’d rather it was at the end of a campaign. God knows who Woody would appoint around Christmas or whatever if there was the much talked about Jose meltdown. I reckon the light bulb would go off in his head and he’d have a crack at Zidanne, then end up settling on Wenger for 6 months or something

Nobody would want us to lose but Most people will be more than happy when Jose leaves.

Everything about him is negative, His character, attitude and tactics. He’s literally a drain to the club at this point.

So the answer is to have us go through a run of form that makes the club sack him or to make him walk?

Where do we go then?

I always try to be positive but we look like an absolute shitshow at the moment and I see no signs of it improving. Mourinho is spreading his negativity everywhere and it's seeping into the fanbase it seems.

If he has his meltdown before or by Christmas, what the hell do we do? Ask Kieran McKenna to be caretaker? Who is out there who could take over?
It would be a fecking mess.

I don’t think we’d need to make him walk, he’s well on his way to doing that himself he might not even reach xmas and I can see us dropping out of The top 4 this season.

No idea where we go from a managerial standpoint but we’re hardly in a stable position currently anyway.

If board has a problem with Jose, players have a problem with Jose, fans have a problem with Jose, why the feck are we going into the next season with him as our manager? At the very least I hope we are beginning to think of who we can get to replace him.

Cause him and Mendes blackmailed us into a new contract. Wouldn't be surprised if this is again about another new contract after Guardiola got an extension, which I'm guessing made him higher paid than Mourinho.

Well getting all of our players back is a great way to start. A good performance in August will fix everything. Wins against Leicester, Brighton and Spurs and Jose will be back to being a genius and the right man for the job.

Where has this been reported? Seeing it mentioned all over the caf yet I'm yet to see it. Is this a conclusion linked back to the transfer comments? It doesn't matter who the manager is, there will always be an unhappy player and unsatisfied fans.

I personally think Mourinho will be here for at least a few more years, but obviously that opinion isn't shared by most here hahah.

There are a number of key (imo) factors which people are either choosing to ignore or forgetting:

- When Mourinho first came in, he was acting like his old fiery self and got himself a couple of touchline bans. He then spoke in press conferences and interviews about how he's working on changing and adapting his attitude. He failed to do that at Chelsea the 2nd time around and it got him fired. He definitely learned a lesson there, and I think that's why he behaves more subdued now. It's not because of a lack of interest. He wanted to remain at Chelsea for many years and he wants to do the same here. He also specifically spoke about how he needs to learn to work with different player personalities, rather than just force them away. I think he is doing that here.

- Youth. Before he was appointed, one of the major complaints/fears of the Anti-Mourinho brigade was that he absolutely refuses to use and develop youth. His transfers and actions since taking over indicate completely the opposite. He has spent big money on young players like Pogba, Bailly, Lindeloff, Dalot. He is also regularly using academy players such as Rashford, Lingard, and now McTomminay. Even a player like Lukaku is pretty young and has time to develop further. The problem with this however is that it isn't giving us immediate results. For some reason people expected Lindeloff to make an immediate impact. I always saw him as a signing for the future, and he has definitely been improving since he first arrived. I expect we'll see a lot more of him this coming season. Bailly was hit by an injury and it derailed his season, but he's a very talented player who I am sure can further improve.

Basically we have a squad with a lot of players who still have a lot of learning to do. Mourinho has tried to sprinkle in some top level experience with Matic and Sanchez, but it's not enough until those younger players properly mature. Pogba may very well become the leader we need this coming season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he needs an extra year to really get to that level. Please don't respond with "he just led France to a world cup", that squad has a number of leaders and while his achievement is good for Man Utd, our squad is not France.

Lastly, I think it's very important to consider this: What is the board and Mourinho's vision for the club for the next 2-5-10 years? If they have sat down and said "right, we need to build a squad with local lads as well as a few superstars, because that's the United way", then they're not going to fire Mourinho this season unless we fall out of top 4. They know that some of our key players are still maturing and they know that this takes time. Sometimes it'll be difficult and sometimes it'll be downright awful but I feel like the board may be willing to be patient. On the other hand, if the board expects BPL victory at all costs, then they'd need to provide the manager with the appropriate signings ala Galacticos but so far that definitely hasn't been our transfer policy so I don't think those are the true expectations.

It is purely speculation for now but yes, but the comment he made was very odd and there was no need for it.

The only meltdown is on here with the over reaction and pulling theories out of their ass to build on another theory and so on.
When have we ever got all of our targets? One summer we are mugs for over spending, we seemingly need a DOF to curb our ridiculous transfer spending yet another summer comes around where we aren't spending like drunken sailors and its the board not backing Jose.
God help our fanbase If we don't have a perfect start. Even then it will be all doom and gloom because we for off to a great start last year and finished second.

Based on the little we know about their policy, I see no reason why they'd be unhappy with him.

Last season's results were the best we've seen since Fergie retired. The football wasn't great at all if you ask me – but the board couldn't give a feck what I think.

If there's trouble brewing it has to be over transfers, i.e. José is unhappy with the board rather than the other way around. But he tends to be anything but subtle when he's pissed off at someone – and he hasn't said anything about Woody beyond a few comments which could be construed as mild petulance over not getting his targets (yet).

There's a tendency towards sheer hysteria on here at the moment, as if the ship is about to sink any minute. There hasn't been a single story from a reputable source (that I'm aware of) about player unrest or anything like serious trouble between José and Woody.

That's what I thought. It's a lot of Jose being Jose compiled by the lack of transfers and people are jumping to conclusions.

Agree with this. Much ado about nothing.

Good to see a different perspective, but its a bit like stats, you cna always bring out once to paint a favourable view. Dont get your first paragraph at all, he may be behaving on the touchline, but he is publicly slating players in interviews, he is sniping about ,amy other things within the club too....thing he isnt and wont learn at all, which shows he is actually more stubborn than intelligent...and he is very intelligent, so its sad.

As for signing and developing youth Ibrahimovic. Matic, Miki, Sanchez....that is half of his signings before this window being nearer 30 and two of them have already left the club. Lindelof may be young, but was a bang average signing when we needed a really good one so we still have the same problem this summer. I dont think he will ever be a top defender and personal opinion, I dont rate Lukaku as a title winning striker at all eiterh that is just personal opinion. Lingard also is in his mid twenties, he is hardly young, though I so think Mourinho has done very well with him. McTominay I can agree with, though again just personal opinion, think he has done well but I dont rate him. Pogba may have been young when we signed him but lets not forget this is a player that had one Serie A on a few occasions and also played in the latter stages of the champions league a couple of times, didnt he play in a final? All before we signed him, so hardly an inexperienced player.

I also really dont get the slating of the Glazers backing wise. We have in the last few years made Galatio signings several times fee wise with Lukaku, Pogba and DiMaria even all the way back to Mata. We have paid out crazy fees to agents and also far more on wages for certain players than other premiership clubs. I am sure out net spend must be right up there with the biggest clubs around the globe the last few years.

This is Mourinhos thirds season lets not forget, so fully correct to judge him by the end of it. I know we were second last year but do we look anywhere near an actual team as Klopp last year after his January signings had a very competitive side the second half of the season, reached the cl final and played entertaining football. Pocchetino after three years, spending nothing like we have has a proper team, playing entertaining football who were very competitive in the cl. Both did this in a three year period taking over pretty average squads and both have promoted youth within those sides.

It could be forgiven towards longer term like you say IF we were showing signs of becoming a proper team and we were playing entertaining football that pleases the fans....neither look close currently.

This is who is his.

This is what he does.

He knows no other way.

Than to burn bridges, people and salt the earth.

The sooner he's gone the better, hopefully, we have a buy-back clause for the talents we are about to lose.

Jose has proven he has no idea how to get the best out of them.
