You think things would be different with Smalling and Jones? it's the style of football mate. We are getting outworked and outplayed by Brighton. Only one person to blame.
Don't let that get in the way of a good moan though

I doubt if we could coach anything to some players at least. Unless we are talking about Keano punching your face

We massively overrate a lot of our players. Being the best player in a team that finishes fourth or fifth doesn’t mean you can be a top level player.

We should have taken the lead and put Brighton on the back foot early. We missed that chance, as always, though and have ended up chasing the game.

Defensively we look shaky as anything. The funny thing is most of us, myself included, would consider Bailly our best defender. What does that say about the quality in our team? He’s been shocking.

A lot of players need to have the biggest game of their United careers.

With this line-up we should be winning
Some of our players lack balls to play for us
Panic everywhere and inability to string passes together

People can blame Jose all they want but todays performance is on thr players

Pogba Mata martial Fred have all been poor

Young bailly and lindelof have all been poor too at the back

Any team who is willing press us will have 50-50% to win. It's a calamity. Nobody play decent, Martial wants to out. I

Bailly's been a shambles but he's covering 2 positions, both terribly. Mata doesn't press, so they are easily playing the ball in behind Young every chance they get. Young's out the game, Bailly's out of position and panicking. Mata doesn't track any runners. Lindelof's sleeping.

Twice we've conceded goals because we've lobbed a ball to one of our CMs and put them under pressure. We have to lob balls to them because there's no fecking movement anywhere!

Yes. Smalling is the best defender and would not have done the same.

    Yo

You seriously pinning individual errors on Jose?? Give it a rest. The players look clueless as to how to play the game, that's not in the manager, that's on the players making errors all over the place.
He picks the team, the buck stops with him !

Hahahahaha, best coach in the world!
Jose has been a shame for United for the last 1,5 years and his horrendous lack of modern football tactics cost us more and more. A bad start to the season would be a blessing in disguise as this would hopefully lead to sacking Mou!

Pereira no where to be seen also

Positioning in 6 is terrible he is a nice footballer when given space and time but that is all. Can not impose himself on the game at all.
Yeah i don't get that, a traditional attacking midfielder playing as a Defensive midfielder.... bizzare

Jose has to take some of the blame sometime. The board have under-invested this summer but his tactics are culpable as well.
He wanted a CB and a full back unfortunately our football/sponsor maestro thought that our team is good enough

Can someone explain what Mata offers?

Anyhow I have a gut feeling Mourinho has lost the dressing too.

Good thing we refused to overpay by a few million for Alderweireld. Well done Ed, glad that Mourinho has a football genius like you to tell an amateur like him how to build a winning team.

What an absolute joke of a half. It's fecking Brighton we're playing, and we haven't even had the ball for a second. No control, STILL. Why? It's awful, awful football. Mata is a nothing player. Martial is a nothing player. Apparently Fred, Pogba and whoever the other arse is don't know how to stand in midfield and do midfieldery things. Young's a joke. The defenders have played like twats, but to be fair it's not just their fault.

Jose just needs to go - he hasn't got a clue, and our football hasn't changed at all in 24 months. We might win this, we might get battered, it doesn't matter. Any half decent coach could get this lot playing.

What is the difference between Brighton and United:
Brighton tried to pass forward and United tried their best to pass backward.

The flaws with the team are so clear and it's so frustrating why they aren't being addressed.

Where are the top reds telling us that all we be alright once the season started? Anyone with half an eyeball could see nothing was going to change over the shambles of a pre season.

Calling it now. 6-3 second half turnaround. We’ll smash them and it’ll be a turning point.

I'm not sure what we're missing more. Brains, or heart.

I'd give anything to have Keane playing today.

I don’t really get who at the club, be it Jose or the board or both, couldn’t see how much our squad has stagnated and that we needed to throw 250 million at it just to compete, plus get rid of something like seven players who aren’t up to scratch.

Soon as the first defeat came, which is likely to be today, the toxicity was going to start and the players we do have will stop playing. I can only assume the lack of spending was a tacit vote of no confidence in the manager from the board, because they haven’t backed him and it will cost him his job. Not that I’m not also disgusted by his football, and mostly by the fact he’s been so bloody miserable since he took up the post. A total charisma vacuum which has filtered down to our style of play and pervaded the entire club.

I don’t care how “spoiled” we were for twenty years, I want to enjoy watching us play again.

Maybe you're right on that, but if we played with plan, meaning Pogba knowing when to do what instead of José seemingly sending them out there to do what they please as long as they defend, I think he'd be as good for us as he was for France.

In saying this, I still think he's been better than most of our players today. Not that it says much, I know.
Defo should have had an assist(Lukaku :houllier:)
He can be good, but as you say he has that crazy moment in him. Not good.
Everyone can be good on their day but he has too many moments of pure stupidity as a CB. At some point he needs to iron them out

For god sake just get Bailly off, he's bloody useless. He's not a Manchester United player, nothing but a bottle job.

The anti-mourinho crew will be licking their lips.

You can tell Jose is shocked at utter ineptness of the players out there today. The coaches aren’t coaching basics you learn at 10 years old. The players are to blame. Will probably sneak a 3-3 anyway.

Anyone seen Mata lately? I've not seen him since pre-season and I'm getting a little worried...

To be fair, the centre backs are both Jose signings, and Young is a player that Jose insists on playing (although we don't have many other options at the moment).

I'm behind Jose just about, but this game right now is more down to him than the board.

Not to go into the politics behind the scenes, but I would like to think the "list" Jose gave Woody months ago, would in my thoughts, be him trying to rectify his mistakes...so if the board don't approve it, all he can do is make the best of the mistakes he bought in Bailly and Lindelof.
Still think Bailly can be a good play, not so sure of Lindelof.

Regarding Young, well I think Fosu-mensah should have been trusted more rather than going to the market.

Most of these useless bunch were playing much better in WC. So obviously this is not the standard of what they are capable of.
But if they're only able to look like semi-competent players under a certain kind of management/tactical set-up/man management style, then maybe they're not as world class as they like to think?

Wouldn't be surprised if he puts the whole team on the coach at half time and drives them hope. Shocking performance.

Because we don't do the basics right. It's all well and good having attacking players on the pitch but it's of no use if you can't play cohesive football and control matches. Which is a crazy thing to say given Mourinho has been here for over 2 years now.
Yep. The system is very poor. Technique almost across the board is at an all time low too.

When owners don't invest this is what happens. An absolute tragedy for United but completely predictable. How can the owners expect the fans to pay to watch this? Can see thousands ripping up their season tickets.
The owners invested £65M on the centrebacks playing today. Handpicked by Jose.

I have been vocal in supporting Jose but things like this do make me think that if we just hired a young attacking coach and giving him time to build something may be the way to go. We may finish a place or two lower in the table but at least the team would be more enjoyable to watch every week and might actually build a great team at some point.

We are stuck with a manager who hangs his hat on instant success, the only issue is that due to the quality of Man City right now we don't really have a chance at instant success. Feels like a lose/lose.

Get out of here with that bullcrap.

You see what Brighton's doing? Their team don't cost as much as a single player of ours.
