Any managerial suggestions that are realistic? Brendan Rodgers would be nice but definitely not realistic.

The likes of Allardyce and Pulis are brought in to save smaller clubs falling into obscurity. Nearly always they rescue the club and then a year or two down the road fans get bored with hoof ball and they're on their bike again. That's what Ireland did. We were so poor for so long that we brought in a manager to stop the rot. It mostly worked as results have improved considerably even if it's not pretty on the eye.

They've earned the right to get one more campaign seem as no other realistic contenders have emerged. But I'd be interested to hear realistic suggestions who play the right way as I can't think of any? I would say no to Stephen Kenny as the job was too big for Kerr who was a league of Ireland sensation also. Mick McCarthy would probably get the job but not sure he's a huge upgrade on O'Neill in terms of style and he had an unbelievable squad to work from last time loaded with Champions League level stars like Roy Keane, Finnan, Duff, Given, Robbie Keane, Harte, Gary Kelly etc Then Niall Quinn, Richard Dunne, Steven Reid also. All first names on premier league teamsheet for their respective teams.
Huge difference between Kenny and Kerr imho
Kenny’s coaching is the future, reliant on young players expressing themselves and having a go. Just look at his Derry and Dundalk teams for how they played.

Kenny at least deserves a go, rather than whatever has-been Denis O'Brien's money can bring in.

fecking hell, I've seen Stephen Ward around Hale village a few times, he better hope he doesn't bump into Roy anytime soon.

As for Jonathan Walters, he wouldn't be scared of Roy if you ask me, he's a right nasty bastard.

 It is hilarious. Even if Harry Arter isn't a prick
Yea, imagine you are at work and some fellow worker you have never had a problem came up to you and called you a "fecking prick." out of the blue. You would be flabbergasted. You would be laughing your head off.

I have to listen to this again. Nearly hope it is true because it is hilarious thinking of it.

We've had our golden generation in the late 90s
A nation of 4 million ffs
Surely everyone knows how corrupt and inept the FAI must be
They've been on the ball about signing up young players with Irish heritage right? Like Declan Rice and that Villa kid
Incredible some of the miserable responses from people in this thread

If the whole thing is true, honestly, what did Keano try to achieve there by going to a player, asking him when he's going to train and calling him cnuts and pricks? I mean what's the point?

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark here but probably to find out when he was going to train?

You mean ones who have never lived in Ireland all their lives, have no Irish accent, just because they may have had an obscure granddad or grandmother. In that case it makes me Irish. No wonder International Football is such a joke.

Yeah, it just causes arguments and falling outs however in Roys mind, he probably thought they were a bit soft and needed the proverbial kick up the ass. It probably would’ve worked with a young Darren Fletcher though.

Anyways, who would the forum be backing if Keano & Walters came to blows? :D

I'm sure your grandparents would be delighted to see how little importance you attach to their position in the family and to the possibility that their history could have any significance to you or your siblings.

Well fair play. That's a great goal. O'Dowda has been excellent so far second half.

Completely agree. O'Neill should definitely be sacked and replaced by Guardiola. When Pep missed out on Jorginho it's widely known that his first choice was David Meyler and he's been trying to sign Shane Long for years.

It would be an honour for him to work with this group of Irish players.
Yea Guardiola also got played off the park by Georgia and Moldova. fecking moron. Shit straw mans to defend him like always. There is a large in between from Guardiola to setting up a team of PL players to get played off the park and make an MLS player look like Messi. There is also a large in between possession football and thr absolute dog shit he serves up. But sure stick with your straw man rhetoric that the only option is Guardiola. We'll be embarrassed in a couple month when the north play us off the park.

Oh right.

Who has started playing for them since they turned 26?
So it only matters once they're 26? It's blatantly obvious that players who either think they wont make the England team in the future or already know they wont, switch to another of the home nations. Often after numerous appearances at youth level for England.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

I don't know why it matters.... you said it?

"Why is it only ever the players who'd get nowhere near the England team that suddenly feel "Irish" when they're 26?"

"Wales are the worst for it anyway."

Nah, any good? Did Poland deserve the draw?
Ah they probably did. Just nice to get back to 11 lads bursting themselves and being dour and hard to beat. Who knew you could miss that? O'Dowda did well, always looking forward, you could see the goal meant a lot to O'Brien. Pity they managed to equalise.

Wonder if Keane's rant had an (unintended) effect on them?

I don't like losing but I'm always "ok" if the players of my club/country put the effort in.

We were just fortunate that Poland were terrible.

Handing out debuts to 30 year old cloggers while we've got Inter's youth captain not even making our youth teams sums up our whole set-up. Apparently didn't "suit the style of play." Its a joke.
