No, we need an attacking manager, someone who identifies with the values of the club.

Absolutely not.

The next managerial choice should define where we want to go as a club.

No more quick fixes and no more defensive football. It’s not the United way and getting someone like Simeone will only prolong the journey of getting back where we need to be.

We used to be the most exciting team in the league and we’ve now had to get used to being one of the worst. It sucks.

Simeone will not fix that.

I like him more than Mourinho but I expect he'd set us up with 4 CMs across midfield and counterattacking.

Thats obviously miles better than what we currently have, but not exactly the 4 striker Sir Alex way

Back in my day, the top managers were LVG, Sacchi, Capello and Trapattoni. All of which were hard as nails, who saw themselves as generals on a battlefield with players acting as pawns in a chess game. These days all of them have all but vanished. LVG and Sacchi are considered as a bit of a circus act, with their interviews taken with a pitch (or ten) of salt.

Those who still share this mentality are in a crisis. Conte got sacked, Mou seems losing the dressing room for the third time in a row. SAF noticed the signs early on. He shed away his disciplinary bad loser attitude soon after the treble and focused on improving his soft skills much to the disappointment of Roy Keane who rebelled. These days football is managed by people with great man management skills. Pep, Zidane, Allegri, Klopp and of course Ancelotti.

Diego is the exception of the case but he still manages a smallish club whose hardly renowned for its huge list of WC players.

Yes. Anyway my issue with Simone is that he'd hardly get us on the edges of our seats. For me that's the key.

He’s basically Jose’s successor as the best reactive manager in the world but I would prefer someone more proactive. Not a bad choice, mind.

I’m also not sure about those sources linking him to United. I think personal connection is very important to him and he wanted to manage Inter first.

I cannot think of anyone worse than him. People keep saying how great he is & how is has assembled a good side into a cohesive unit. If that is the case can someone explain to me how last season Man Utd scored 68 goals to 58 for Atletico Madrid in their leagues, whilst Barcelona & Real Madrid scored 99 & 94 respectively. It would make our last three managers seem like the masters of attack.
Well, he's great at what he does : scoring a goal and defending for their lives for it.

He's not the right fit for us due to that but he's great and very successful. Football is played in different ways.

No after LVG and Mourinho we need someone who wants to attack, I'm convinced too many of our players are still playing thinking LVG is their manager

No sireee. Great manager but he’s another underdog style manager and just not the right fit for the club. As a fanbase we need a attacking manager it is as simple as that.. we’ve let Pep, Klopp and Sarri go to rivals when tactically they would have been ideal to modernise this club. We can not afford to take a step back or stay stagnant once again.

Issue is who is available at the moment that’s is a visionary attacking wise? I think Zidane would be a safe choice if we want top 4 but I would like to see us get a young manager with a fearless attacking approach.

:lol::lol:. 3 years people moan here about defensive approach. Even in season one when we won stuff. If Simeone comes here it would be meltdown

Yeah I'm sure he will be getting us back to playing free flowing attacking at Old Trafford. After all the managers and play styles we have tried, Simeone would be the next mistake.

Well he’s certainly attainable since his contract expires in 2020 and according to reliable sources close to him United are the only English club that he would consider managing(he turned down the chance to succeed Conte at Chelsea).Hes 48 and he knows how to reinvigorate a team for a sustained period of time(we should always strive to find a manager who will stay with us for a decade).

He’s a La Liga Champion,he was a whisker away from winning 2 CL titles...What he has managed to do at Athletico is more impressive than what Pochettino has done at Spurs. To make Athletico compete against the big 2 in Spain season after season is a phenomenal achievement...

In my opinion Simeone is the best candidate to succeed Mourinho...Do you guys agree?
Why would you want anothe defensive manager?? Havent people learned yet?

Crazy suggestion, what if we have one thread to discuss options in, and not one for every manager out there?

This 100%. Simones tactics are to win 1-0. Park the bus and get a lucky goal.

He's great, and he'd turn us in to a right set of dogged bastards, unlike the current give-no-shits style we're seeing now. And his black on black Johnny Cash look is the bollocks.

But I'd still rather not him. Not that I know who we should get instead, just not him. I like what he does, just not for us.

Great manager but personally would shift to an attacking style. Only time I enjoy watching Atletico is when they play the big guns.

Not for me. Too defensive. I don't mind his two banks of four after so long of us attempting other things. But I feel also like he's too much a wild one also. We tried and got it wrong with the meek Moyes, but I still feel like that's the sort of character we need to be going for.

No chance, we don't want another defensive manager.

We want entertainment.

I think he'll be a poor fit for United tbh... he works in a very specific set of circumstances and not everyone an thrive under him at Atletico. I mean Diego Costa and Griezmann clearly love him but I think United need someone with fresh views and a more attacking mind. If/when Jose gets the ever more inevitable looking boot you should be thinking Zidane, Poch (hasn't won anything but maybe deserves a club where he will be financially backed). I think even Conte might do a decent job.

Surely if people are advocating to get rid of José, they don't want another defensive manager in his place? Simeone is probably even more pragmatic. Not to say he's a bad manager because he's obviously been successfully. He's by no means a guarantee of success, and most certainly wouldn't bring progressive football.
