I think the worst problem you guys have with Mou is that you look at literally all of the other big 6 and they look like their managers train and train and train attacking patterns and moves every single day to the point where it's almost effortless when the matches come. One touch passing, neat and intricate moves, pressing high, etc. City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal all play this way now.

That's bad enough as it is, but then you see teams like Wolves and Fulham playing a much better brand of football as well.

How else can that be explained other than by saying Mou doesn't properly know how to coach that part of the game? Is he completely out of touch with the modern game? One of the most expensive squads in world football and your team looks like they don't have a clue how to play with the ball.
Refer to Mourinho’s rule #6 ... Whomever has the ball has fear.

Those posts saying we should sell Pogba, Martial etc without even giving them a chance to perform under a different, attacking manager are ridiculous.

Are you so frustrated with the fact Mourinho is failing that you're projecting all you're anger, frustration and anger towards those whom you deem responsible for this situation Mourinho's in?

Considering the shambles Mourinho is about to leave the team, selling those players would only push our club further into the abyss.

The West Ham game was the final straw for me. It’s not just Mourinho’s fault though. A lot of the players have let him, the fans and the club down.
If there isn’t some sort of statement from the club this week, I don’t think anything will happen this season. They let Van Gaal stay after an absolutely dreadful run over Christmas in his tenure.
I really do wonder if Woodward can’t be arsed with the work involved in sacking and hiring. Or he’s too chicken to have that meeting. Did he even face Van Gaal when he was jettisoned?
The only other reason I can see for not pulling the trigger, is it would be Woodward admitting that he’s cocked up again and he will lose his current role. I think he quite enjoys the limelight.

Hmm, still on the fence for now. If he had players who would run through walls for the club and these results were still happening I’d say he needs to be sacked now, however the Players look 2nd best to all 50/50’s, their basic passes lack convinction, they look too scared too take risks but also a massive fear of failure so they all take the safe option, maybe because Mourinho is a stats man and the next day at Carrington JM says player X pass percentage was 85% where as a riskier ball player like Pogba or Fred may be made an example of in front of the rest of the squad for not recycling possession! I dunno maybe in their minds...

The fact the players show no passion tells me its much bigger than just manager tactics! Its the hirachy above Jose. We’ve seen him argue with woodward in the public during pre season! Its unheard of! Their needs to be bigher changes than just the manager.

Zidane wont make Valenica a better crosser, or Lingard better end product, or Pogba less of an entitled diva, or Mata 5yrs younger so things wont miraculously get better under a new manager! It didnt under moyes or LVG so it wont now. It may go back to when Moyes changed the whole SAF backroom staff who knows?

We need big changes and we need them
Now. Woodward isn’t going anywhere as he’s making the Glazers money, so we can forget that wish.

I think if we lose away to Chelsea in a fortnights time he may well walk himself.

It's really sad but I think Mourinho must go... it clearly shows that our players aren't willing to accept his autority anymore.

This is the lowest Manchester United I have seen since I started loving this team three decades ago.

We need to do some proper succession planning. Is Carrick ready to take over for a month? Who's immediately available, who available at the end of the season? We can't just pull the trigger and hope everything works out.
Well it’s not working out anyway so why not try to take action.

Was it really supposed to end any other way with this guy in charge?

Sanchez,Pogba,Martial,Lukaku,Rashford all need to be given a chance under an attack minded manager. Look again at that list and get over the delusion that these players are all suddenly not good enough to have the ability to steamroller teams outside the top 4 and championship outfits if played in a coherent attacking setup. I don't wear the suggestion that these players are all suddenly useless non-united level crap when we lorded the arrival of most of them. Mourinho's 'system' has ruined every decent attack minded player we have - they all look lost, isolated and confused. Stick that front line under Klopp's heavy metal football and we'd be blowing mid table teams apart - not hoping to scrape a scrappy 1-0. By all means if any fail under an attacking system then get rid.

The last managers ruined Di Maria, Kagawa and Falcao so its been done before. Who all left United and went back to winning and scoring.

For all Mourinho’s bad points, with the players we have, we should be blitzing lower teams even if we had a 5 year old in charge. The players need to cop themselves on and if they don’t want to play for Mourinho fair enough, but at least play for a bit of pride in the jersey.

Are you watching closely?
If we don't want to pay what it takes to sack him then just do what we do with the rest of our deadweight, keep him on the payroll and let him coach the reserves or something. Or translate for Zidane.

Obviously we need to plan what to do, but the situation right now is so bad I just don't see any upside to keeping Mourinho around. He's no longer a manager failing to function well enough, he's a noose around the club's neck.

Doesn't work like that if the team is disorganized and doesn't know how to attack, while playing sides that have lesser players but play like a team. Yes, that too is a part of Mourinho's failure, not the players.

. Some of the players obviously don't want to play for this manager or in his tumescent system. Playing well for the shirt in their eyes will just keep him in the job longer so that won't happen.

I don’t think it’s that easy. If the players are demoralised and confused as to the methods, I’d back a hungry, motivated and well-drilled premier league side over them any day.

Something's clearly not right at United but I have no idea what. Have you had three poor managers in a row? You've practically had 2 full teams worth of players in that time, so have they all been poor? Is it a lack of foundation, an inability to change- how can it be United aren't the first club to get a new manager. Some combination of the above? If so what do you change?

It's honestly such an odd situation, I don't think anyone realistically expected this to happen when Mourinho was announced, sure some thought there'd be burn out but I think most were at least expecting some improvement first.

I agree Mou has failed to get the team attacking anywhere near well enough, but some of the big names, especially Sanchez look like they don’t know what a football is, so I won’t dump all of the blame on Jose.

Players are human too. If they can't stand working in a certain type of environment and despise the manager.. they will down tools. At the end of the day they're not Manchester United fans (some of them are) and it is a job. If they're not enjoying themselves, they won't be operating at 100%. Right now the players are basically trying to force the boards hand and if Wooodward had anything about him he'd realise that and listen to the players especially as Mourinho has previous in losing players, plus he's blatantly been a cnut throughout his tenure and its a no brainer whose side to take here.

To be honest, I am not surprised Woodward can't see the wood for the trees here, when you look at some of the opinions on this forum or from the Stretford End/our away fans, you can see why Woodward could easily fall into that bracket of being oblivious to common sense and backing the manager to the hilt, even in the face of logic.

The decision not to back him in the summer is the stupidest one the board have taken post-SAF, and that's saying something.

It's like they read too much into the "Jose's third season" pirate curse the media keep talking about even in pre-season and decided "ah okay, he's gonna fail, we're not backing him".

Arggggggh, ya best starting believing in pirate curses, Slevs, you’re in one!

This smells like chelsea team on that particular season when their poor performance and result ended in his sacking but Man Utd is no abrhamovic. They dont fire a coach with temporary results.
They wait till the end of the season and asess the situation and make decisions. They will be patient with him unless something dramatic happens. There are many prem league games and the champions league.Business reasons, availability of coaches are also major factors.

But how is it that a player like Sanchez could look as if one day an alien came and took away his talent? And it's not for the lack of trying because the guy is giving a whole lot, it's just not working.

Reality of the matter is none of our attacking players look as good as they can and have been in the past. Nowhere near. Sanchez is probably the worst of them, certainly the biggest fall, but before him Mkhitaryan also looked like his talent was sucked away from him. If one player is struggling, he has a problem. When it's everyone, you look at the manager.

That’s where a lot of our problems are coming from imo. Players not wanting to play for the manager just doesn’t cut it for me.

They are getting paid an obscene amount of money and fans are paying ludicrous prices and in many cases travelling from all over the world to see them play and I know that I’m repeating a cliche but for me it still rings true, they have a duty to perform for the club and the fans, regardless of who the manager is. Anyway, I don’t want to come across as overly defending Mourinho because I agree he has been poor for us, but the buck does not stop with him, our problems run deeper.

I think people are convincing themselves that there is a lot more to the issues of the club than what it really is. The transfer policy and scouting is a mess, and the managerial appointments have been appalling (in hindsight) but before this Pogba fiasco, there hasn't really been problems between staff and/or players. If we can actually stop spunking £150 million every summer on shite players, and start recruiting in a proper direction, we'd be much better off in a couple of years. But if we do the same things we have done the last 6 years, we'll be having the same conversation next season, the season after that, and the season after that.

Half the squad is good enough to be playing better than it is, the other half of it is indeed bang average. Plodders and deadwood like Valencia, Darmian, Rojo all should have been binned a long time ago. But we do have some quality players - Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Alexis (on the decline 6 months prior to joining us). Some players show glimpses of being decent - Shaw, Mata, Pereira, Herrera, Matic - but constantly blow hot and cold because we don't use them properly, trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Make no mistake, I don't think we have a title winning team (incredibly after spending £500 million) but I certainly feel we are playing below where we should be.
Quality response. Thank you.

Woodward is untouchable at OT, make no mistake about that. He’s bringing in so many commercial deals he’s the Glaziers golden goose.
Need someone to separate the entities - business and football.
Surely appointing a DoF and consuming the extra wage is cheaper than paying off failin managers. David Moyes would STILL be in charge this season if the powers that be were right in the first place. Scandalous.
Irrespective of the above, José has to go. He’s a turd that isn’t flushing, just hanging about the place, stinking it up. His toxic, egocentric ways are not conducive to man Management and his tactics (that’s assuming he employs any) are archaic. It’s gone too far, he’s spent too much money on bad investments, he’s alienated players, fans, media, scouts... “always the victim, it’s never your fault”. Oh the irony.
Get him gone. Someone tell the Lowry, they’ll be the only upset people in town once he’s buggered off.

Well, it's not Woodwards decision to make unfortunately, and I'm not surprised he's reluctant. Since Fergie was no longer allowed to pick the next manager, he's got it wrong twice and displayed a lot of short-term vision. His job is on the line as much as Jose's is.
I hope so. I feel Ed will continue to be brainless on the football side if the club allows it. Leadership qualities and a level head should be the requirement for future transfers, not dabbers, not faces that sell watches and not bloggers.
I also believe that Jones, Valencia, Young should be sold. I'm really disappointed at these players. They played under Sir Alex yet utterly failed to impliment that hunger in to the squad. Jones is a disaster, Valencia the mute is the furthest player from captain material you could get and Young wouldn't look out of place with relegation fodder. Smalling I would keep as he is above average and can do a job.
I know with Darmian, Rojo and Lindloff are shite and should be moved on and it would leave us with no defenders but we cant carry on operating with one area of the pitch (midfield)dedicated to protect the other (defense).
We need our players to have confidence in each other. Why make an attacking run when you know Pogba will try to buff up his YouTube skills video first. Why overlap when you know Mata will stop the ball and push inside. Why pass to Lukaku with his back to goal when you know he will lose it.
We are a fecking shambles right now and I dont see a way out by just sacking Mourinho, selling Pogba or pushing Ed back to the commercial side. Every player around our 1st 11 have serious flaws to their game. Part of me wants Roy Keane brought in on an interim bases to kick some heads and bring home some home truths to this pack of idiots but getting back some semblance of attacking football is more important. Goals win games and going for the kill every game is more appealing to me then trying to contain a midtable side. I would also give Lukaku a bit of a run coming in from the right and let Sanchez/Martial have a crack up front. United has always conceded stupid goals but also scored a lot through sustained attacking football. That should be our priority, with or without Mourinho.

I can agree with all this but….

When we constantly change players, constantly change system, throw players under the bus, play a system nobody likes....what do you expect ? If players don't perform 100% or close, they will lose games in the Premier League...but noone can perform to 100% if they are not happy, if they don't know what to do. It doesn't matter if you are a footballer or a normal working guy. I bet that noone can say what our strongest team is, what system works best for us, and what football Mourinho is trying to play. After 2 years - I am still Clueless.

I see what you’re saying, but my problem is that since Ferguson left, we seem to be becoming more like Chelsea, I for one don’t find it acceptable that players can just down tools if they don’t like the manager, it happened under Moyes too and before anyone opens that can of worms, I’m not saying Moyes should have been kept on.

My point is, when do we say enough is enough and stop sacking managers and as a club take a step back and asses where we are and where we are heading.

I can see United and Mourinho coming to an agreement to end it at the end of the season. Probably announce it in January or February. Saves everyone a bit of embarrassment. Would like to see Luis Enrique come in

Cause we hired Mourinho? We've been far too patient with our shit managers, Chelsea would've fecked them off a lot sooner. There's no way Moyes lasts 8 months, Van Gaal lasts 2 years and Mourinho survives this summer.

We need to catch up and be more pro-active. Be more like Madrid, if this kind of shit went down at Madrid (the reigning 3 time CL winners) the awful managers they would've fecked them off so much sooner and been better off for it. They actually value their club, more than some manager who's done feck all for the club to deserve blind faith.

There's a reason why the owners and Woodward didn't back Jose in the summer and give in to the signings he wanted. It's because they know he won't be here much longer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Woody and/or the Glazers have been working on a new manager behind the scenes for a while now.

There's no way they'll let this circus continue.
