Ralf Rangnick.
All I can remember of today's performance is him running putting his body about as he tries to recover from his failed control.

That seems to be a recurring theme with him from game to game. Not good enough.

Surely our attack would be a bit more functional with someone like Martial or Sanchez up there instead of him. It can't get any worse that's for sure!

Poor in the first half but held up well in the second half. Almost played Pogba in late into the game. Still not convinced that he's the right man for us.

Needs to be dropped. I honestly thought he would build on last season and become a beast of a centre forward but he’s actually gone backwards.

That was a weird moment.. Usually it is Pogba playing Lukaku in and Lukaku not controling it. Now it was the other way around although this wasnt easy for Pogba to do.

He's confirming all my fears when we first got him. Not good enough for us. For our sake I would like to see it change but don't have any confidence it will happen.

He kisses Jose's ass and that's why he plays whether he's hindering us or not. Hope we sell him.

I didn't catch it on the replay. Was there a touch from the defender before the ball landed for Pogba?

I like Lukaku and I want him in the team. I just think that the lack of competition for his place is doing no good to him or anyone else. If he is not having a great game, we need to sub him off. We have options.

He's not a United first choice striker.

First choice striker should have the capability to make defenders, team mates and supporters feel when the ball is played to him he can make something out of nothing.

When the ball is played to Lukaku I'm more intrigued if it will stick.

I used to think that about Hernandez but he was never a week in week out starter so it wasn't that big a worry. Nor did he cost £75m.

I know people didn't like us being linked to Arnautovic but we would be in a better position if he was here providing actual competition to Lukaku (as well as our attacking mids).

I like Lukaku but trying to play him through his poor form is costing us.

If we signed arnautovic it would martial on the bench and Lukaku still playing.

Neville overcooked his second half performance but he did look more energetic than he has in a while, even if the control and passing from him weren't great.

At best he's an option, suits some matches, not others, shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch when out of form. He is not a player you build your attack around. Terrible decision, that I suspect we will be left regretting for years.

I thought he did ok 2nd half, don’t think he was as bad as is being made out. He was up against 2 decent centre halves. Agree we need more competition for him though.

I'd have him over Giroud and Morata, but yeah, he's pretty underwhelming.
Morata yes, he’s the only one of the top 6 strikers that’s worse than Lukaku, but Giroud would, ironically, be quite useful in a Mourinho system. He’s good at holding up the ball, bringing others into play and generally functioning as a useful target man, which is what José wants from his CF.

Recently he's been as useless as Howard Webb's comb. He needs to step it up or I will gladly see him shipped off. So far it seems like 75m wasted on a belgian Emile Heskey.

I don't know if it's the Jay-Z influence, but he hasn't been half the player since he started spending time with Jay-Z and signed up to Roc Nation sports. I'd give Alexis a run upfront.

What else was he supposed to do with the limited amount of ball he saw?

Never a £75m player in a million years. Incredible that we spend so much money on a player in a position and I'd rather see two other players there.

Is it just me or does anyone think that he has bulked up too much and in the process lost his speed of turn ?

Lukaku is pretty much exhibit number one of why judging strikers by goal returns alone is idiotic. Stats, both at club and international level make him look borderline elite, but the eyes tell the true story.

He is what he is, a fairly reliable scorer/flat track bully but his top level is not high enough for the level Utd aspire to be at.

Slim pickings though, that Summer it was Lukaku, Morata and Lacazzette as a distant third.

No he wasn't good. Even when the team stepped up he was still tripping over the ball and not passing accurately. He isn't switched on most of the time.

The big guy is having his worst run for us for sure but I'm no where near thinking we should move on like some. I've seen enough glimpses of him out wide (see that right footed cross intended for Pogba late on today) to believe he's got even more to his locker and has age in his side to showcase that. He's got the right mentality and is a proven EPL scorer, he will come good.

Needs to stop pointing to others as well whilst he's as static as my ass. Annoys me for some reason seeing him acting like a big shot when he's doing feck all.

Another big game without a goal? Not surprising . We don't put the ball for him on the plate like in Belgium team where KDB and Hazard do all the hard work and be dispatches.

He's a good player and a beast when he's on it but we need an upgrade. If we can make our money back on him, we should get rid. Only thing is who will buy him?

I just can't see him ever being good enough for a world class team. Bit like Ruud - we only got to the next level once he'd left. Got a long way to go before we can compare him to Ruud though.

I don't know what to think of Lukaku. What's holding him back?
He is a 6ft 3in poacher. A bulked-up version of Chicharito basically. Pretty solid goalscorer, but his general play is just not good enough.

I like his personality, so don't wanna be too harsh on him, especially when you consider that the alternative was much worse (Morata), but we will probably need an upgrade.
