Spider-Man wrecked Tomb Raider's sales and there's no chance of a second wind with RDR2 coming in a few weeks.

They keep fecking up with their release dates, I remember the previous Tomb Raider was released same time with some other very big title which I can't remember which completely overshadowed it

Managed to get my standard username on PSN so I'm all good.
Just been reading about it now. Insane that it's taken them this long. But at least they're doing it. And yeah, i bet there's a whole bunch of people happy to see this.
When they set up PSN, they fecked up by putting the username as the primary key of the table. 10M+ accounts later and when they realised some people might want to change their names, they also realised that due to the way the database was set up it was going to be a pain to do so.
From reading this it sounds like they have just inserted another field in the database for display names which a lot of older games won't support hence the second paragraph. And sounds like they're expecting a lot of problems.
Also, in the last paragraph, because you can revert back to your original ID that means that even if you change your name, your old one won't be freed up for anyone else to use.
Yeah i remember reading about this a few years ago. It's a complete clusterfeck. Hence why it kept getting teased, then another year would go by and nothing would happen. Although Shawn Layden gave an interview a year or two back refuting those claims, and said that the reason for not having name changes in yet was because they wanted to do it properly and that takes time. He gave some shitty excuse about people going into one game and giving other players grief, then changing their name and avatar and going into another game and doing the same thing. He said they wanted to avoid that. Which is a lousy excuse, and i think we all know that wasn't the reason.
Anyway, they've done it now, but judging by that statement you posted it's not quite as smooth as i first thought. Good old Sony.
Tomb Raider already 30% off less than a month after release. That must've bombed.
Great in one sense, shame in another
Have to admit, I enjoyed the first Tomb Raider reboot game but I never bothered getting the second when it finally came out on PS4, it being a timed exclusive basically killed any interest I had.
Get it, cheap as chips these days, it's great.

I feel like they made it more complicated than it needed to be. Couldn't they have just made it work by essentially creating an alternative account, but haven't linked to the first one.
So old games that don't understand the concept of a name change treat it like an alt account but new ones understand it's the same. And trophies and friends sync
Warning there’s a psn message going around starting with juegas that can brick your console. So everyone besides @afrocentricity put messages on private until Sony fix this especially if you play online games.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a must. Bloodborne will make your piss boil but worth a go.
On that note, the baby is almost sleeping for long periods at a time so hopefully by Christmas I'll get some hours to finally play God of War for the first time
Why would people pay to change their username? Why not just make a new account for free and who even cares about usernames?

Just played through The Order 1886 that I picked up on the cheap earlier. I'd read all the negative views before so I wasn't expecting much, still entertaining enough. The visuals are stunning, it's one of the best looking games I've ever played. Gameplay is a mixed bag, the shooting is pretty nice but it's all a bit dull. I did like the world they created though.
Just a shame they committed a capital sin at the end by leaving it so incredibly open-ended and dropping pretty much every story line completely. The story is pointless without a sequel but we all know it completely bombed so that's never going to happen. I guess the lesson to be learned for a new, uncertain IP is to make sure the first game has a very self contained story so it doesn't feel so unfinished if a sequel never happens.

Ok got a load of games to play as a result of trading in old ones. AC: Odyessy, persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Watchdogs 2, Wwe2k19 (guilty pleasure) and Red Dead to come next week.

That implies to me that it will be 2020 we actually see the next gen.

Next gen would be nice. Feels like this one has run its course, specially after Red Dead.

Nah I disagree, the best games always come out once a console is more mature, just look at the number of great games Sony publishers have brought out in the last two years, and we still have the likes of TLOU2 and Death Stranding to come, and hopefully Cyberpunk (if we're lucky).
I hate the first few years of new generations because the games are usually shite or just remasters/ports of previous gens.
Plus the PS4 is still selling like wildfire, no hope Sony will replace it for another few years imo.
Don't you think there's not much further this gen can go though? I did forget about Cyberpunk which should be incredible. After that it's going to be a long while before anything quality can come out though?
Graphics wise, yes, we're probably due another gen, though we were due another gen long before the PS4 came out and PS3 came out etc. etc. too. My only point is that the further you go in a console's lifecycle the better the games you get. So I don't want a new gen console yet!
