That would make sense given how little they seem to care about what's happening on the pitch.
That makes 0 sense to me. When you are looking to sell something, you make your product as appealing as possible. Shit results result in lower stock price, which results lower value of the club which means Glazers will get less money. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Why are people allowed to express hatred for Shariah? Shariah is the equivalent of the Islamic faith. It is not a legal system or a method of governance, it is all the rules relevant to Islamic faith and practice.

Bring on our oil rich and foolish overlords. I'd even accept a camel or a palm tree on the logo if it meant City levels of spending.

The source is Phil Brown..."Pilib De Brun". That says it all really.

In reality, the Glazers are fast descending to Kroenke's level, which could be the absolute nadir for us.

True but what if you don't know how to do that?

You then have an underperforming asset thats value could be rapidly declining. In which case you might want to sell up and cash in while the current value is still high.

I can’t accept this if it happens.
I’ll be out until they are gone again.
I know for a fact that if the Saudis buy United, every man and his dog will vent their fury about us supporting murder.
Man City will still be praised as angels.

Given the severity of Utds decline and ongoing downward spiral the Glazers are surely smart enough to realise that now is indeed the best time to sell, either to a consortium or indeed an oil rich state!

There's no guarantee we'd even be good under them. Liverpool are proving that you do not need to have a murdering dictator's unlimited funds to get success.

You need a sporting structure that facilitates good football, from the top (sporting director, scouts etc) down (manager).

This would just be the cherry on the cake and I'd effectively feel disenfranchised as a fan.

Hopefully, it's a consortium. We've always been this classy club that does things the RIGHT way. Responding to adversity (Munich). Proving doubters wrong (Busby Babes & Fergie's Fledglings). We've always won with class.

These recent times, have shown us in a different light as a corporation which panders its masters.

I think we having the Saudi royal family in charge would hugely damage us a club. I would be conflicted as a fan to go to a game or buy a shirt to support a murdering despot.

A consortium of well-meaning supporters would save our club. But it's out of our control.

Who else could buy us other than a state backed consortium? I can't see a fan back takeover ever happening, I mean who the feck has 4 billion quid going spare? Saudi or Chinese investment would be the only way to remove the Glazers. Don't want any of that but no point in thinking it can be any other way.

No consortium of supporters is coming up with 4 billion. Anyone who has that type of money is likely going to be on the unethical side of things. TBH if it is the Saudis I won't let it bother me as we as fans have no choice in it. Just like how we couldn't do anything about the Glazers.

So dramatic! Living in KSA's biggest cities isn't as far fetched from living per-say Doha, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait. You could live lavishly and peacefully no matter what your gender is. You could go from any of those cities to Dubai or Bahrain if you want freedom in your alcohol consumption. I lived in Santa Barbara, California for years but I never felt the huge difference in my life style at all when I go back to Riyadh. I have four sisters, two of whom are doctors and still thrive to achieve more in life.

Please be sensible before painting a whole community in such a horrific themes and accusations with out a clue.
I’m glad your sisters are living what you think is a good life. But please try and understand that I know exactly how life is for those without wealth or access in Saudia Arabia; seeing the attitudes that prevail amongst the ruling classes.

It’s a rather disassociative state one is in when one argues that because one subjectively sees people living ‘good lives’ in a certain place then everything in that place is really okay and all you have to do is ‘try’. Modern psychology is veering towards a selfish gene/mindset being more prevalent in certain individuals where empathy is completely lost, but this is still in its infancy. Not sure if it’s nature or whether nurture can knock the ‘I’m alright, Jack’ culture out of them.

Sadly, certainly anecdotally, you’re not alone in thinking like this. Freedom goes far beyond a good salary and drinking alcohol.
As a side note, I’ve also lived in Los Angeles recently (WeHo) and I didn’t like that either due to the massive disparity in wealth that was on shameful display. This is not an ‘east/west’ argument. It’s about fairness, equality, and having a good life for as many as is humanly possible.
But I’m pleased to say there were people that were working against it in West Hollywood and that’s the kind of thing we all should concentrate on; not defending oppressive regimes because they allow a little freedom here and there (as long as you’re rich and reasonably connected).

Again, I think we have to agree to disagree here but I would suggest you look deeper into the subject of what goes on in your country (and certainly more objectively) before you posit further defences regarding brutal rulers (even if your life is quite nice and you can get a drink).

The point is no one bats at an eye at the wealth disparity in London or NYC where billionares are enjoying aged beef and families are barely surviving in these great nations but when it comes to Saudi Arabia all the negatives get zoomed in on.

Saudi is a messed up nation but people love to go overboard with the life there.

There are reliable reports that Liverpool's ownership group are trying to sell their club too. I wants us to get the Saudis before they do. Whoever does will become a pretty much unstoppable juggernaut 3-4 years from now.

This maybe due to the recession in US that's predicted somewhere next year or early 2020. Could wipe off billions from the stock if that happens. I could see Glazers selling it before that at £4b evaluation.

Any consortium that's not state-backed will require an LBO. That's just the reality of the situation - no investor has billions in cash just lying around. As others said, be careful what you wish for.

We would be screwed really. The debt would be huge and will take forever to pay off. Clubs with one owner seem to run a lot better too, they make the decisions quickly.

Ideally the Glazers stay and fix things here. But I would sell up if I was them. It's the perfect time, the club is at an all time high value, the spending in football is getting harder and OT will need a lot work to fix up soon. Best time to walk away with huge amounts of money.

Would any new potential owners get rid of Jose? They would see a serial winner who has been moaning about not getting the backing from the previous owners. The prince then gives him millions to spend and we're still in dire straits for the next year or so.

Our only hope is the Glazers get rid of Jose before any sale. Jose will want to stay as long as possible before a sale and hope to be still here after the sale.

The Glazers aren't selling a local Co-Op. Manchester United probably the most recognisable and popular sports team in the world, if you consider the markets we've been in the last 3 decades. A few shite results and a crap manager isnt going to ruin that. They know what an asset this club is, and a Saudi billionaire isnt going to be dropping his price because Pogba isnt playing this week.

Aren't you tired of accepting mediocrity ? Aren't you tired of never taking decisions on managers till top 4 is impossible, giving new contracts to average players and rewarding mediocrity with giga salary after a purple patch ? Saudis will be ruthless and will never accept this shite. The difference in how we'll start acting as a club will be huge once they take over. Glazers don't care about success. They want to leech as much money as possible from the club and want it to be top 4 at bare minimum, so they only spend to secure it and sack managers only when they fail to get it. Time to get a board who will sack managers and sell players for not winning actual titles not for not finishing in top 4.
Sure thing! But being owned by a rogue state is not the answer. It would spell the end for Manchester United.

We already can afford City levels of spending, it's just we don't spend the money well and haven't since SAF left because we have no DoF. Our net spend over the last 5 years is about 400 million to City's 500 and Liverpool's 170. I'd rather not become a tool in some oil rich dictatorships efforts to get good PR just for another 100 million.

And anyone who compares the Glazers to the Sauds is not being realistic.

Even if we finish 7th or 8th we are still making the Glazer's money, not as much if we were top 4 but its still a profitable business so I don't think they are eager to sell at all, rumors come and go like they have for years and I still expect the Glazers to be in charge in 10 years time

How long are we going to cling on to that one for?

They have gotten better with each season and nothing frustrates me more. I used to absolutely love it when they had Gillette as an owner, Hodgson as manager and they were doing what we are this season - getting battered, playing dross football.

But for the last couple seasons it’s surely obvious that they are playing the better football, have the better system, without the need of some dodgy owner. Investment, yes, but we aren’t short of that now. They almost won the champions league last season and they’re currently top of the prem.

There is zero guarantee that a team will win anything with infinite cash. Yes, we’ve got Europa, an FA cup and a League cup to our name and Liverpool have won nothing in the five years since Fergie left. But we have not challenged for a single title in that time and this is the second season Liverpool are in the running. Money isn’t our problem, the culture and set up is. I don’t think MBS’s oil money is going to change a thing, other than have us funded by one of the most repressive regimes on the planet.

There could be some truth to the very faint rumours about the Glazers considering selling the club given the current situation

1. Why hang on for a difference of £6m if the reports about Jose's payout is to be believed? This suggests they are thinking very short term about every penny

2. Why make seemingly no effort in investing in the future of the club? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the shit brand of football we're serving up and lack of success will ensure that the next generation of football fans outside Manchester won't be interested in us and our ability to attract sponsors will wither away

3. Why the sudden reluctance to invest in transfers all of a sudden? You could argue it's because they don't trust Jose but if that's the case why haven't they sacked him?

Perhaps the most simple explanation is that they're a bunch of fecking muppets, but there definitely seems to be an element of short termism here which points to owners who don't see the club as a long term investment.
