I really had hoped it would have worked out better for him, but for whatever reason it didn't. What really worries me is the last 3 managers we have had the vast majority of fans have been delighted when they left the club, are we just going round in circles? Hire a manager, be optimistic, things start to go wrong, get utterly sick of the style of football and the results, pray he gets sacked, rejoice when he does get sacked, then start all over again... Maybe the problem isn't the manager at all
The managers chose to play absolutely dull football and chose their own demise in a club Fergie managed for 2and half decades.

Jardim would be perfect until the summer - attacking football, gives chances to young players. That's all I personally want to see. I just wanna enjoy watching us play again.

I hope it's Simeone or someone who goes defence first and you "I want entertainment, my poor dad doesn't watch games anymore" can cry even more..

This is football, not circus..

We've been a circus under Mourinho and got nothing to show for it. Maybe this time we will get a manager who isn't a coward.

Bit surprised that the club actually pulled the trigger this "early". I was among those hoping he could turn it around, but as things stand there was just too much negativity and not enough progress.

I am thinking that a lot has been going on behind the scenes lately, and wouldn't be surprised if it gets a bit messy now from Mourinho's side.

Backwards? Best start ever to a premiership season, don’t put you opinion as fact it’s incredably irritating.
Yes, backwards. You aren't winning the title this season, just like you didn't in 2015/16, and just like you didn't in 2016/17. You aren't winning it next season, or the season after that either. You've had your day in the sun, picked up your "ran Chelsea close" cup, and now you're busy fecking around with a stadium that should be finished but isn't. Best start, blah, blah, still 6 points off top.

The only way for Spurs to go is backwards. You've a stadium to pay for, and that's going to seriously squeeze the budget for future transfer windows. Arsenal are resurgent. Chelsea are resurgent. Liverpool seem to finally be getting their shit together as a top team, and City are City. Should United get their shit together, you'll have us to contend with too. You aren't overtaking the teams above you, and are well in the sights of the teams below you.

You can't guarantee him that at United anymore. We're up against City who have much more money to burn. Furthermore Spurs have the better players and most likely we can't get someone like Kane or Eriksen for a fair price. At United the expectations are much higher and he starts off with a worse squad. So taking the huge risk of failure into consideration, the money has at least doubled, maybe even tripled.
At a certain point, the amount of money becomes somewhat redundant. We're more than rich enough to combat City's wealth. Spurs have a better squad at the moment, but they've a stadium to pay for, and have already had one summer with zero investment.

The expectations are higher at United, but I'd like to think whoever we bring in now is being brought in because they have a vision to take the club forward, and will be given sufficient time to do that, even if that means switching the focus away from silverware for a few seasons, and back onto playing an attractive style of football that pleases the fans and gets us back competing with the top clubs. If we bring him in and tell him he's to deliver a league title in three years then yeah, obviously that's shit, but I don't think we will do that.

I think we should give it to Mourinho. José on a shorter contract might loosen up a bit, knowing he will be under no pressure as he will be replaced at the end of the season anyway.

Does Blanc play attacking entertaining football? We need some .
I’d say yes, he does. Nothing extraordinary but more attractive football than Jose’s philosophy, surely.

Plays 4-3-3 and seems to love to see his team holding the ball at midfield and recovering it quickly by putting some pressure. He relies on his full-backs. Sharp passing combined with quick movements is the key. Also, made some really good transfer when at PSG. Transformed Menez - Ibra - Lavezzi trio into Cavani - Ibra - Di Maria/Lucas.

In France, they blame him heavily for their CL exits in the QFs, but I think he did well overall. The team had many injuries at that time. Anyway, it’d be a big change because he’s nothing like Jose. Blanc is stoic and quiet. The only thing that he has in common with Jose, it’s maybe his stubbornness sometimes.

I just want entertaining football. I want us to attack, and play with flair. If we lose, then we lose, but I'd rather lose whilst playing good attractive attacking football, then lose playing dour defensive football

Going to have the biggest celebration today. Great to see the cnut get what he deserved, but unfortunately with a huge payoff. Now I want to see a manager who can get the best out of the players he takes over instead of just looking at the transfer market, and not try to prove what a fake tough guy he is.

I can't see where Mourinho goes from here other than a long break and Portugal national manager. He may not even do that.

He's lost the dressing room at his last two, possibly three clubs and has lost the respect of top class players. It's strange because the last few days he seemed to have calmed down. He must have known what was coming and relaxed.

It's sad to see such a great manager humiliated like this. He will keep quite and the truth about what really happened in the dressing room will never come out but you could see from the performances that the players didn't know what to do except hoofball. He lost them.

Jose has perhaps the biggest ego in football and may surprise us all but I can't see any of the big clubs going for him. His style and manner is clearly unpopular with the players and he needs to rethink his methods. Maybe his trouble starts with the big ego players. Certainly the players get paid so much that they may not feel they have to take his rantings. It even looks like he can't see how to stop trouble coming anymore.

I felt he lost his edge the second time at Chelsea and that Utd were taking a big risk by appointing him. It's groundhog day for Jose and he needs to change. Maybe he could do better at a smaller club where the players don't have such big egos. Maybe he could go back to square one. Nah! Not happening. His family never settled in Manchester and he'll go back to Portugal.

I just want a manager who can handle the modern players, playing a progressive style of football. Look at films like gladiator, what was he told, win the crowd that’s all he has to do.

The first step in me seeing him winning me over for the next manager that knows what he’s doing, is remove the problem of players who should be playing MLS and championship football that is Move darmian, Valencia, young, Jones, matic, fellaini, Lukaku all on, these are the main problems in this squad. Sell these players for what ever we can get, and we start to see a club they can build.

The first baby step in moving forward is Jose Mourinho, next step is moving on his donkeys, his fave players.

The club have set a standard now, not top 4, but act and play this kind of football and attitude your out the door, no questions asked it’s the first sign in change in how we see this vision of the club even though he should have gone in March.

Can we give him Lukaku as a payout?

Insted if 22 million he would get 75 million in asset.
There’s also the sentimental value Jose holds for Romelu.

That’s surely a better deal for everyone involved.

Who by the way? Madrid? Surely not Barcelona. Not bayern either, and neither juventus. Hardly any one in top 6 in England. Will psg be willing to let neymar and mbappe managed by Mourinho? Let's see. That leaves inter or ac Milan with a chance. I have no clue about how atletico Madrid fanbase would think of him.
Jose seems to think Perez will welcome him back with open arms but I think he caused too much damage in his relationship with the players, (which he regularly seems to do.) Don't know if Inter have enough cash for him to build the team he wants.

It's funny how critical our fans here are of Woodward and his choices, because some of the shouts I've seen on here are abysmal. People not wanting a defensive manager but then chuck in names like Conte or even Jardim, who was historically known as a defensive coach, and then chucking out the names of random ex-players as DOF.

Queiroz was an interesting name I saw on Twitter. Gets the club, nice style of football, good training ground coach.

Not an option to be manager but might have been a steady hand

We managed that well with things written in contract with lvg's sacking. Hoping it's the same with mourinho. It doesn't have big effect after its spoken a year later.

Be careful what you wish for!

Certainly Jose had to go, now or at the end of the season, fourth place now out of sight and the defeat against Liverpool and the manner of it (never really laid a glove on them!) finally did for him. However, who comes in? We are a broken club at the moment, too many players who are either not good enough or don't want to play for the shirt, who can rebuild us with Woodward in charge of the purse strings?

Which top manager would leave his current job to pick up a basket case as we have become?
It can only be ZZ, only one (top manager) out of work just now, if he turns us down, need to get LvG back!... I said be careful what you wish for!

The interim manager has to encourage attacking play. It just has to be that way.

Can't see why we are looking past Eddie Howe. Excellent forward thinking manager, great knowledge of the English game, plays entertaining, attacking football and gets the very best from his players.

No player is bigger than the club and we must remember that goes for the manager as well! Too many managers have massive egos these days too - we don't want another Van Gaal or Jose type!

This guy has worked miracles with Bournemouth, and it's fair to say we need a miracle now!
