I can't believe those who were in a frenzy over Mourinho dropping points have almost a zen like fatalism over Ole's possible time here.

Surely, it can't be acceptable to lose simply because a guy is more likeable or had a nice history with the club.

If Arsenal can drop points to Southampton, then the top 4 is still possible... I think only City is incapable of going through a dry spell.

We should remain equally irritated if OGS drops point as if it were Jose.

Any other reaction makes absolutely no sense to me.
Think of the next few months as a detox. Getting rid of Jose's toxicity so that we are ready to drive on under the new manager in the Summer.

People complaining about OGS and his experience are missing the point. It’s not about trophies, it’s about removing the negativity and sadness around the place, getting the players to remember how to smile and get attacking instincts back again, convincing DDG and Martial to sign long term contracts
Agree. Should be an exciting time as the new Caretaker doesn't have a lot to lose now this season.

Willing and knows the club inside out? Footballing principles?

Seriously, that's the best argument you guys can put up? You can fit in 100s of our ex-players who can fit that mould including ones who are living in Manchester in Scholes, Neville, Keane and one working at the club in Carrick. Jesus wept

Never called him a success anywhere, so stop putting words in my mouth. You want to discredit for anything nice he did, that's not the case with me. His experience at top level showed in some games, most importantly in crucial matches we won. Obviously he didn't emulate that successfully over the course of 30 months and that's why he was rightly sacked.

Ole has none of it, and again just to reiterate my previous point. There is no credible argument you could make for his appointment. Just the old waffle we've heard for ages wrt Giggs 'knows the club' 'Utd way' 'willing'. It's just laughable.
You know what mate, people like you who want to go after CVs and experience and trophies have had your day with LVG and Mourinho's appointments. Now let the people who actually want to enjoy watching Utd again have a manager who's gonna give us at least that. Also it's just for 6 months and barring him getting us relegated there isn't much to lose. We have already shown our capacity to attract high quality names even without CL so it's not like missing out on it is some unmitigated disaster. Let the players and the fans fall back in love with Utd again.

I quoted the boxes multiple times, and they are not a credible requisite for an appointment at any club even if it's an interim one.

Blanc like many have said before me has been out of job for a year and a half, he doesn't have many offers on the table. He'd jump at the chance of managing United and try to make a stake for making this interim job into a permanent one if he were to do well. Ole is being told that you're only going to be interim manager, so go ahead and do whatever you want for next 6 months because there aren't going to be any consequences. Why are people not seeing this?
Not really, you just picked one reason that you disagreed with and objected to it. You didn't mention any of the others because they actually do make sense.

The opinion that they aren't a 'credible requisite' is subjective and in this instance, the powers that be at United seem to be siding with me on this one.

Blanc being out of a job for 18 months and no one wanting to hire him isn't really a positive.

Im not just going to enjoy the season because we have a new manager, I still want us to actually play well and try win things this season.

I don't know why people have accepted to write this season off in December.
Your not enjoying it Just because of a new manager, but because the new manager may actually play decent football and still win possibly? Just a thought!

Jose was dragging us to hell, it was absolutely painful viewing every minute of it.

It's not completely wrote off but 11 pts to 4th is a big ask, but if your seriously telling me your expecting us to challenge for the league your on another planet altogether and there's no sense in trying to reason.

The Champions League is a huge, huge, huge ask! Blanc couldn't do it with a better team and Jose couldn't so I doubt Ole can even with Phelan at his side.

Like I say, I seriously don't get our fan base... The vast majority sulk for 2 and a half freakin years moaning about the board not planning and drum it up as an excuse to protect Jose... Now they seem ready to plan and folks sulk cause its not instantaneous.

Restructuring a club takes time and if it means 5 months of uncertainty so be it. We need our fan base to be patient!

A season out of Europe would probably do us some good whilst we get everything put into place.

That was the story that Sky were spreading earlier that OGS would come in with Phelan as his balloon burster. I mean assistant. I'd be happy enough with that.
Fair enough, bit harsh on Carrick and McKenna but hey ho.

He has taken a public stance in lambasting the way the club is run as though it's fact and had the cheek to act wise after the fact re Mourinho's contract extension when he was vehemently defending him just a couple of months ago.

He also took the opportunity to have a cheap dig at Pogba this morning for something which had nothing to do with him. He uses his voice irresponsibly to peddle nonsense agendas yet he has the gall to criticise players for their lack of professionalism.
Whether Pogba personally posted that photo or not, he is ultimately accountable for what goes on his Twitter/Insta page. It probably was his PR team, but he is still accountable and made the whole club look stupid and made himself look petulant. Personally, after the whole Pogba Jose spat, it wouldn’t surprise me if Pogba had given the nod.

Also, public stance at the way the club is being run? Is he saying anything different to what we all say on here?. Woodward isn’t a football man, he’s a money man. He’s made 3 bad appointments in a row and now he’s going to make a 4th appointment.

The way the club is ran is wrong, you can’t slate him for saying it. I’d much rather him speak the truth than try and pretend everything is rosy.

So what do you want us to do?
Should we have left Jose there?
Should we hire a less preferred candidate permanently, in the hope of making an unlikely top four?
Should we hire a new manager before finalising our new structure with a DoF?
Why should we treat Ole the same as Jose? Ole hasn't been here 2.5 years, Ole hasn't spent 400m.
A caretaker for six months didn't kill Chelsea football club. I really don't understand what you guys want.
I'll be fine with this as long as the permanent manager is in place and the team executives have a plan.

I just disagree with the idea that we should accept anything less than full effort the rest of the way.

I will be as angry and sick if we lose with Ole as we did with Jose.

I just don't get those who say it's fine whatever happens because it's not.

Not too thrilled about this OGS thing. Hear SAF is involved in it. Sounds like SAF's picks tend to have sentiments behind them. Does OGS play slick stuff?

Jose had like 3 seasons And 400 odd million to spunk to improve a good squad while he was supposed to be a guaranteed success as winner.

While whoever comes in right now will be inheriting a desprited team and only be a caretaker for a interim period.

So yeah if we lose we should be dissapointed under anyone but let's not compare apples to oranges.

Being willing, knowing footballing ethos, knowing club were the things you laid out. These were the same things which were touted in favor of a Giggs appointment few years back and were duly shut down.

The opinion that they aren't a 'credible requisite' is subjective and in this instance, the powers that be at United seem to be siding with me on this one.
Of course, it's subjective. Powers at United are siding in your favor? The same powers who gave Moyes a 6 year contract? van Gaal full powers to gut the squad? Handing Mourinho an extension just 18 months in?

They have been making one crap decision after another, this just continues the trend.

Blanc being out of a job for 18 months and no one wanting to hire him isn't really a positive.
As opposed to Ole not getting any good gig after his stint at Cardiff 4 and a half years ago? At the very least Blanc has managed a top European club in PSG, he was sacked after he ballsed up a CL KO. Hardly the worst crime is it. He also has experience dealing with divas up there.

You know what mate, people like you who want to go after CVs and experience and trophies have had your day with LVG and Mourinho's appointments. You can have both, you can hire a manager who has some experience so this season doesn't spiral out of control AND make the fans fall back in love with the club again by playing attacking football. Not sure why people like you see these things as mutually exclusive.

The point is he isn't any more qualified to make that judgement than the average fan. Why is it fine for him to take shots at the club for ongoings at board level which he knows nothing about but fail to acknowledge the shortcomings of a manager who we could actually see failing at his job on a weekly basis?

There's nothing wrong with wanting change at the club beyond Mourinho but he's consciously made the decision to push all accountability towards the board and the players, which is wrong.

It’s going to be announced tonight!

So probably within the hour. I think it may be Mike Phelan, the more I think about it.

OGS and SAF know each other very well, and Solskjær learned alot from him both as a player and a manager. And yea he does, he's a red through and through, knows the club in and out, and I would be very suprised to see any defensive type of football under his leadership. And it really looks like hes the man whos gonna take over for now, everything else would be a suprise right now after such strong sourches from Ogden and other reliable sources.

OGS with Phelan as his assistant it is then

The issue is that it's a long caretaking job, negativity will only be removed if we play nicely or win, the initial honeymoon period will be over by February.
I'm not so sure it's even about winning at this point. The players look like they could use a 'mate' rather than a manager right now, someone who will give them the freedom to go out and express themselves and perhaps rediscover their love for the game. Ole will make for a welcome change of pace after 5 years of restricted football under both LVG and Jose. I'm not 100% convinced he is the right candidate but there are far worse names being bandied about. Ole understands the club, too.

This season is a write-off any way you look at it, we may as well use it to experiment with youth/tactics/strategy etc.

Giggs had never managed a game in his life and was too connected with the players so the two situations are hardly comparable. That's just a lazy comparison. The things I mentioned are positives no matter which way you choose to spin them.

Let's be honest too, you didn't 'shut them down' you just disagreed with them and didn't really produce a conducive argument as to why I was incorrect apart from that lazy Giggs comparison.

OGS is being brought in as a manager with good footballing principles that knows the club and it's expectations in an attempt to change the mood of the club into a more positive one by using his reputation and his playing style to improve the atmosphere on the training ground and in the stadium and get things moving forward again.

He then goes back to Molde with some good experience at a big club and we put in place our new structure going forward and enter into that transition.

All parties involved are satisfied.

Not too keen on Ole over all, other than the fact he’s one of ours and great to have him about generally.

Thinking with my head though, I don’t want any ‘United way’ reds involved. The first thing they will do is put Valencia right wing, Young left wing, and try and cross the ball repeatedly.

Definately don't want Solksjaer, Blanc or Carrick.

I want a caretaker manager that will get the squad playing to their max potential to make the role more attractive to Poch, Zidane or Allegri in the summer.

I still want Ferguson back for 6 months. No1 in the world can inspire like he does. If health allows then why the feck not?

Imagine what he could do with Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Dalot and Shaw? He could improve them no end and make their careers.

That's not how Ole's Molde plays though, they play good attacking football.

Let the man rest. He gave a huge part of his life to United. Time to move on. He's not in great health anyway. This lot would probably kill him.

I agree with all of that and I am not against Ole. I'm just pointing that not performing for 6 months will have a negative effect on the players and the fan base, it's a little bit naive to say it's not about winning because players don't want to lose and unlike what some think, they care about it, it's the main driver of happiness and confidence.

Jesus, the doctors aren't even letting him go to watch all the matches to watch and you want him managing.
