Great striker but has shown nothing to be excited about as a coach, still it's pretty irrelevant, he's only here to keep the wheels turning until we get a proper manager in the summer, I hope he gives some youth players a chance and just at the very least lifts the mood in how we play, these players are nowhere near as bad as Jose Mourinho has made them out to be.
Didn't say he didn't but we've still got UCL and FA Cup to play for and interim appointment or not it's a very underwhelming appointment

Obviously, because once appointed, I can actually see the appointment, be it from East London or anywhere else. What I can’t see from here is ‘who else is available and would have accepted an interim role?’. How the feck should I know? If you asked me that 24 hours ago, I wouldn’t have said Ole Solskjaer. I’m discussing his merits now that he’s been seemingly appointed.
And anyone from anywhere can see that his CV does not say ‘next United manager’ anyway. The caf just does this. Once something is happening, it’s always the greatest idea. A week before we were linked to Lukaku, he’s shit, until he signs, then you are called names if you think he’s shit.
I obviously want Ole to do well, but if you step back a week and then consider his credentials from there, you are likely to get a clearer view on what you think his merits are.

He's going to get a real taste of the job, more than half the season left to go. This isn't like a give-it-Giggseh where there were only three games left.
I hope this is true. Sure it’s not a big name but right now I’ll settle for someone who try’s to play football! I think it’s a good appointment. Someone who loves the club, knows about its tradition.

We just don't know - which is kind of exciting. Obviously, there is an element of wanting one of your favourite players to do well. I mean, if it was some random manager, I'm sure this thread would be in meltdown but you're in the wrong sport if you can't help but romanticise and fantascise about the unlikely event a United legend actually makes it here.
When I woke up this morning I would have taken a turd on a stick as manager ahead of Mourinho. Olly is a significant upgrade on this.
There's no chance the fans get on his back - he's bullet proof in that respect and the players and board will get it well before he does.
Best case scenario, he gets the players enjoying their football again, we see an immediate bounce and have an enjoyable few months of attacking football.
Trying my best to stick with this mindset!

We are currently 6th, and want to finish 4th. With more than half of the season to go. All this ‘season doesn’t matter’ talk is bollocks.
And Hiddink was impressive I recall. Anyway, that may even be the case. And Ole may do a great job. That’s not enough. Cantona May do a great job. We can’t tell the future, but as of today, it’s the wrong thing to appoint Cantona, Ole or Scholes in my opinion. If we do, then great, hopefully they surprise us. I don’t see it though.
How we finish the season is important regardless anyway, in relation to the job the next manager has. Under Ole, it could go well, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if we finished bottom half. I’d rather a new manager try and take us up from 5th than 12th.

It isn't about people suddenly thinking we have the next Pep Guardiola. I think most people are happy because there is a chance that we will go from doom and gloom every week with incredibly negative football to a bit of positivity with a manager who will have the full backing of the crowd and although we are very unlikely to make the top 4 the amount of attacking football almost has to increase. Add a healthy dose of nostalgia and it is understandable. We have gone the route of super elite managers with CV's as long as your arm, it's been roundly miserable, maybe this will be a bit of fun whilst we work on improving the structure and finding the right permanent choice for the next six months.
Or maybe Ole is the next Pep and we'll live happily ever after, literally impossible to know.

If you were looking for the club the make an appointment to turn the season around, get us into the top four and competing in CL then you'd definitely be worried by Solskjaer's lack of pedigree.
From my point of view though, I had assumed Mourinho would be here until nearer the summer and had thus accepted that we had zero chance of finishing in the top four or competing in the CL, so this season was already dead to me. As I see it Solskjaer can't have a worse than zero chance of finishing in the top four, so no loss there. But now I can actually look forward to the CL games next year without being certain we're going out in a dismal and depressing manner. As such I'm not particularly bothered if Solskjaer fails to save a season I had already written off. Even the false hope and nostalgia seeing him as manager brings is far more than I was expecting when I woke up this morning.
I say we just relax and try to enjoy the appointment for what it is. Ultimately it only matters if it works.

Yes I'm trying to be positive as well! I just adore him though and want him to do a good job. He knows it's his one great opportunity to lead United (even for only 6 months), so I hope he has no regrets at the end and does himself proud.
