Workmanlike performance against very defensive Newcastle team.

Players looked a bit tired but never looked in much danger.
Not a great fan of Lindelof but thought he was MoM today.
Rashford and midfield were good.
Shaw and Mata looked below par and it got a bit too congested on the left.

Alexis and Lukaku did quite well after coming on.

Referee had a nightmare and Newcastle would have been lucky to finish with 10 men, never mind 11.

Edit: 2 points closer to Chelsea

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Rotated players, got the 3 points, and kept Dave happy with a clean sheet. All against tricky opponents (including Voldemort who has been our Kryptonite at times) I'm very happy.

Think the shit Mata got on the MDT was well over the top. I personally put the unbalance of play more down to the full back and don't expect to see Valencia too much more until he can run on to balls. But it gave Young a rest and highlighted his captaincy attributes (was a lot quieter out there today).

Good three points! :D

First things first how the hell did JC call out Rashy as MOTM. Lindelof was MOTM by a mile! Best performance from out the lot today, absolutely brilliant. Great defending & 1st to everything. On the contrary Shaw was the poorest.

Fantastic result which had to be grinned out of the stubborn geordies defence or should I say the team bus. We had to work hard but it still was a great watch. Few players greedy on certain occasions which they need to learn, it’s about the team & not them.

Ref was shit made very poor decisions & the Newcastle players were very very dirty. Yet the ref was completely different with us.

Good subs to change the match nice instinct finish from Rom & great team goal for the 2nd. Could’ve had more but not to be.

Anyway another entertaining watch regardless we were playing a level down but I still would’ve taken a 1-0, a 2-0 score line was just deserves. Brilliant brilliant brilliant.

Could clearly see that many of our players felt the rough program they have been a part of the last 3 weeks. Not easy winning these games even if 100% fit and ready, but they showed fantastic character and never stopped trying. And as we have seen plenty of times the last 30 years, patience and character wins in the end!

Shelvey can choke on his on vomit and i couldn't care less. Disgrace of a human. I don't have many positive things to say about Marriner either..

Thought we were poor but won the game cause of our quality. We moved the ball too slowly.

Actually looking forward to and enjoy watching Utd play again.

Regardless of the results we’re playing good, positive football.

Looked a bit tired tonight not as crisp as last few games still a win is what counts.
Lindelof was awesome.

Shelvey lucky to be still on the pitch.

Great win against a solid and ugly side while constantly getting f'ed over by the referee. Almost all of the players improved in the second half and Ole made some brilliant substitutions which instantly changed the game for us.

Very good performances by Pogba and Herrera once again, especially Herrera, constantly getting involved by winning the ball and being on the right place. Rashford was also great and I just love how confident he is right now. Lovely finish on the goal.

Great cameos by both Lukaku and Sanchez, just the right players that need to find some form. And last but not least, my man of the match, Victor Lindelöf. His best performance for us so far, absolutely dominated Rondon and hardly put a foot wrong the entire game. His battle with Rondon was my only concern before the game but man I didn't expect him to handle it like that.

Get in Ole you beautiful man!

They made it tough but we deserved the win but our defence makes my arsehole twitch, and not in a good way. Rashford my MOTM but Lindelof was close too. There was one point with a minute to go, we’re 2-0 up and we attacked with 4 players in their box, I haven’t seen that from a United team in quite some time. Really enjoying the ride.

I fecking hate Newcastle! This is the sweetest win so far under Ole. We kept hitting their brick wall, but the subs along with Rashford and Pogba turned it for us.

Good win.

Valencia was useless. Him and Jones were gash against Atsu, god help them when they face mbappe and neymar next month. That could be brutal.

Good win.

Not as good performance wise. We did move the ball too slowly and too many times congested ourselves on the left flank.

We'll need to play better vs Spurs. But still great to pick up 3 points against a thuggish defensive Newcastle team.

Ref had a mare all game too. Mariner is terrible.

Under Jose we would lost this game, Rafa is like a boogey manager against United, he has a 55% win rate against United, 70% at home. Knew this would be a tough game, but we played well. Created quite a few chances, scored 2(could have been 3 or 4), kept a clean sheet. Good day at the office. Negatives would be our right side, need a RW asap and Valencia is past it.

For playing the 4th game in a short space of time that was a pretty good performance. Lindelof and Herrera were excellent with Matic also doing well.

It also showed we can’t play Mata and Valencia together, the right side was non existent for an hour.

The sort of game a month ago where with ten minutes left and no one looking like they had a clue, we'd be Humping long balls to Fellaini. And it would have finished 0-0.

Whatever, Ole is saying and doing, the players are responding and watching United is compelling again, not a wearisome ritual.

Positives:
  • 12/12 points (only team so far)
  • Clean sheet finally.
  • Only 6 points to Chelsea
  • Mini break for the 1st X1 from now with no injuries
  • United healing from the infection that is Jose
  • I wear a smile now :)
I'll leave the negatives to you.

Play a second team against Reading and our first team will have 10 days rest before playing Spurs.

I'm glad we won that, and we did it convincingly but it still irks me how they got away with so much. Marriner really is a shit referee.

Being able to win even this type of match is a good sign, they really gave us a tough match. A solid effort by the team and so nice that we didn't release any goals. For me, Lindelof was MOM very closely followed by Raschford.

One huge positive for me is that we have players in the first 11 playing well. This is meaning that those looking to make the starting 11 really have to up their game and this makes for positive competition for places.
I know these things can go in phases but we seemed to have a number of players having a dip in form at the same time. We then had players dropped due to lack of form only to be replaced by someone else going through a similar tough patch.

Mourinho has never won at their ground so that would be quite possible

Everyone looked understandably knackered after that fixture build up, but great game from Lindelof, Shaw and Rashford in particular. Jones & Valencia covering the right of the back four is some kind of dystopian nightmare, Jones was playing like he was wearing lead underpants for the first 20 minutes.

It's going to be a tough game against Spurs, just need to hope for a bit of luck.

Positives were lindelof, Rashford and Ander.

Negatives. Valencia and Jones are just not good enough. Shaw should be back up at best.

Brilliant run from Ole. Beat Reading and it's 8 days to recover and prepare for spurs
