Oliver has a thread on here. But Marriner has to be the worst ref and biggest homer ref in the premier league.

Worst Refereeing performance I’ve seen in a long time. Shouldn’t be wearing tight shirts either, he doesn’t look fit enough to run after these players.

He really has been terrible. Can't believe we're winning the yellow card stat here. Kudos to the players for keeping their calm and not wasting any energy on him though. Energy better spent on scoring those goals.

Benitez was fined £60,000 for complimentating Marriner before a previous newcastle game. Looks like Marriner was trying to thank him tonight.
Let them kick the shit out of us tonight.

All the referees in the premier league are dire. VAR coming next season, just have to hope they're actually competent enough to use it properly..

I'm lost for words. Never mind a red card but can he deem what Shelvey to Pogba to not even warrant a booking ? What's the thought process behind it ? It's crazy to me that a decision like that is made and the ref will have no repercussion on him. fecking crazy

Yeah that was just awful from him today. He's either drunk, visually impaired or bent as feck. You can't explain a horror show like that any other way.

At least this way there's surely a chance they can look at it again.
I can only imagine like a lot of us on first view, it just looked like Pogba had cleverly bought the foul.
Second viewing was sinister as hell.

Single handedly the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen in the PL. Shevley to be banned for three games and Marriner to spend a few weeks as a third official. Disgusting lack of interest in the game.

The referee didn't even give a yellow card for that. Very poor referring. Won't the referee take post match action?

Here, there, everywhere...
Not the one to complain about refs in general but today was an amazingly shitty performance. Allowed Newcastle to kick us all night. Didn't give us what should have been easy free kick decisions. Lascelles and Shelvey both should have seen red. Some mind boggling stuff.

Paul Scholes reviewing the decision in the studio and saying that it was not red. He is really biased against Pogba.

Absolute fraud. Might actually be a worse referee than Oliver, but you just can't look past Oliver's fistmagnet face. They're by far the two most detestable referees in the league.

Actually, Atkinson really rubs me the wrong way too. The absolute state of the referees in this league...

I try not to work my self up over refs, as I’ve been one and know most decisions are much harder than they look on tv.

But Marriner tonight really begs for it. When you wave on play at three blatant free kicks early on, when it’s clear one party aims to play rough and push the limits, you get this. Eight minutes of extra time for injuries was far too little, and in the end the game was stop-start as a consequense of both teams getting annoyed.

Top moment: Between letting Lascelles away with a yellow for what could have been two yellows and a red, Shelvey off the hook with zilch in place of his mandatory red against United, he gives Lindelöf a yellow for being fouled.

That performance from Marriner was absolutely shocking, right up there with Atkinson at Chelsea against us in past seasons. How did Lascelles and Shelvey escape red cards, Newcastle only get one yellow card all match (Lascelles), while we got two? The card against Lindelof for handball was a complete joke, as he was off balance after being barged by Rondon. It should have been a free kick to us. Also, Marriner was the ref who sent off Pogba at Arsenal last season, when Bellend planted himself in front of Pogba in mid stride, whilst failing to act after having a perfect view of Shelvey's stamp on Pogba tonight. Absolute joke of a ref. Just glad that we got the three points and no serious injuries.

Off course Scholesy would say that - have you not seen him tackle?

Crazy talk. The tackle as it the very least a yellow card offense.
