I was surprised he played Perreira, surely Fred would've been a better option.

And with Mata we just didn't have the pace or mobility to break down Burnley.

Poor all around but I guess we will learn from this.

Am I the only one who thinks Mata didn't do much wrong. It was not like he was slowing down the game or making big errors.

Don't point the finger to Mata he really did very well when played in center. This is on Ole, he should have taken Rashford off instead of Lukaku and Perrera surely had to not started this at all, he is not our quality and even when he was loaned out to Valencia he was shit.
And Jones my God ffs enough, hope Smalling takes the partnership with Lindelof.

I'm sure Ole knows he made a mistake. However, I'm very happy at our response. Yes it's 2 points gone, but it was important to see how we would respond to a set back, and we did very well.

Real shame about the first goal we conceded, totally unnecessary. Feck knows what was going through Perreira's mind.

Sanchez and Lukaku should be subs only imho. I would let go of Perreira as well. Love Juan, but he's not looking good at all.

In the thread: lots who cannot go beyond the scoreboard in analysing a football match. Anyone who thinks we were lucky to draw is utterly clueless. Burnley had two sniffs of goal, took them both, whilst defended poorly and conceded numerous quality chances that we squandered. We got Burnley’d, nothing more, nothing less.

Solskjaer got it completely wrong with the tactics and selection tonight and we drew because of that.

Mata shouldn't have been near the starting line up. When he starts we lose vital components of our game plan and they are pressing, pace and width.

Rashford and Pogba both should've buried their chances in the 1st half, I'm not sure Rashford is going to be clinical enough to become world class.

We had largely eradicated mistakes from our game of late but gifting two terrible goals against a Burnley side is going to make life difficult.

As for them, Im sure at the weekend they will revert to their normal getting hammered self! It appears they only roll their sleeves up at OT.

Great to get away with a point. Lindelöf is turning into a grown man quickly.

Pereira shocking. Lukaku bad. Mata weak. Rashford uncomfortable.

Too many changes to the starting line up, Ole gambled despite losing Martial and it did not work out. Mata, Lukaku, Pereira will always be static.

Periera disappointing of course with his mistake, but noone of our outfield players impressed. Rashford and Young were also poor, to just mention two players.

Strange to substitute our strongest player in the box, Lukaku, when we where chasing a goal. What was the point of all those crosses? (Even though Lindelöf scored from one indirectly.)

Great sprit at the end to grab a point, but this game shows that we need Martial-Rashford-Lingard upfront. We can maybe substitute one of them but not two plus our most dynamic midfielder. Then we go stale.

Thought we played well bar rashford missing a few sitters and periera getting caught again in that midfield position. Shows our depth isn't as good as it should be and that we will look more disjointed when we rotate

But for the first goal, which I give shared credit to Jones and Perreira, we would have ground them down, like days of old.

Pleased about us grabbing two goals and a point, though.

The Good

- Above all, the response after going down 2 goals was absolutely fantastic. Under any previous manager we would have rolled over but we absolutely battered them tonight and came out deservedly with a draw.
- Lindelof is quickly turning into a complete beast of a defender. One of those modern ball playing CB's that we have lacked since Rio retired.
- Pogba and Matic were excellent again. Matic has completely reinvented himself under Ole.

The Bad

- Lukaku looks like a failed purchase with every passing week. He's played under completely different systems and styles of play and he doesn't excel in any one of them.
- Perreira played exactly like someone who hasn't started a PL game for 6 months. Completely invisible throughout the match and the only thing everyone will remember is him falling on his arse for the first burnley goal.
- Rashford as LW and Mata as RW just needs to stop.

Lost two points, but today i was watching the type of Manchester United i fell in love with 20 years ago. That comeback to save that 1 point after going 0-2 down was beautiful. "Don't change a winning side".. Easy to say that with 6 games in the next 4 weeks coming up, 2 against PSG and one against Liverpool. We have humans in our squads, not robots.

At least these games show that we need quality signings in really important areas this summer.

Mata is so bad at this level. Slow, weak and these days very average. Ole must take that result on the chin, poor team selection back fired on him, Burnley deserved their point. Rashford being pushed wide for Lukaku is a mistake I do not think Ole will make again. This also shows that we need a CM desperately. Herrera was a huge miss today. Hopefully Jones, Young and Mata never start another game for us from next season. Pereira really blew his chance today and I do not see him being here next season.

It's a shame Martial wasn't available today. Honestly, he's our coolest finisher.

Looking at it now calmed down, perhaps ole thought he was a god and could pick any 11 and they would win every game. It might be a blessing in disguise that he plays his strongest 11 and leaves Mata Lukaku Sanchez and pereira on the bench.

He doesn't start them because he's not good enough, quite obviously.
I thought you'd be in here getting stuck in on Andreas after that  To be fair he made a poor error, and you could be right about him not cutting it at United given he's no child anymore. I still think I'd like to see more of him before I make a decision one way or another but his past few appearances haven't done a great deal for him.

Got the selection wrong and took too long to make the subs. Good comeback though.

Mata never does much wrong, problem
is he’s playing it safe, all the time, should’ve done much better with his through ball in the box and that free kick on the edge of the box was disrespectful.

This!!! Great atmosphere at the ground too. We aren't going to win every game but we should try to!
Yeah, im surprised it wasn't mentioned more often in the match thread. Old Trafford was rocking tonight. There was a buzz every time we surged forward.

9/10 we win. They defended pretty well but we did well to keep going. We just got to take our chances. 28 shots on goal is decent but too make skewed wide.

Ole will be the first to admit he got it wrong with Andreas playing. I doubt he will throw him under the bus, but i doubt we will see andreas again starting.

Should have started Sanchez as well.

Lukakus movement in the box is just woeful. He just expects the ball to magically land on his head or feet. Yes Ashley Young was poor crossing, but Lukaku does not help with his movement.

Mata i thought was poor in the RW but much better in the MF. Fed up with seeing him on the RW though.

I dont think we respected them enough with the team we started. I think we thought we would hammer them four nil.

A lot of long balls as well for some reason. I think we missed Lingarrd getting in between the lines.

Ole will know for certainty now that he cannot trust Andreas in MF. If this were away from home, we were beaten.

Red Card for Casemiro!

I actually thought he was good tonight. Never stopped trying, kept possession and sprayed it into key areas, played one touch football, offered a passing option for the backline, kept buzzing all around like a bee.

Burnley effective, Pereiras career at United might well be over after that mistake, general ability to cross in this team is still shit, Lukaku and Sanchez should not start.

Shaw and Young: Good in defense. Bad in the final third and their crossing is simply not good. This is something that can be trained. Does not help that Lukakus anticipation and movement in the box is as good as a tree.
Pereira: Made a costly mistake, struggles to find his position and movement in the build up.
Lukaku: One decent cross in the first half after a suprisingly good first touch. Did not do much else of note since he was never where he should be. Can't micromanage a player that has played seniorfootball for over 8 years. Get rid.
Sanchez: Decisionmaking as bad as always. Won the header before the second goal, but did not do much else. Get rid.
Mata: Only effective when we were around their box. When the team is trying to press he serves no function. Do not sign a new contract.
Rashford: Better in the middle. Simple as that.

Lindelof, Matic and Pogba did their job today. Not easy to play with the starting attacking lineup.

Reading post game comment by OGS:
made it hard for the players to be fair on them because it’s a team that’s never played together.
We never had a kick the first five minutes, they just kept possession and we weren’t cohesive enough in the pressing.
That happens when you don’t have a team that doesn’t plays together as much.

Why then do you tweak so much again?
When you take out 2 battlers in Lingard and Herrera and replace them with Mata and Pereira, you know you go down a notch in trying to win the ball and take control of the game.

Pereira did not contribute anything to the game other than a goal for Burnley. He was very very poor. If OGS wish to build his confidence in the game, I wish he had kept Mata on the bench and vice versa.

I read some fans turning off their tv at 2-0 down. If we want the team to continue fighting to the end, then we should not be giving up on the team when they are down. The fight back from 2 behind feels so much like the old United. Fergie time is back! Not a great result, but I'll take it!

8 out of 9 wins. 9 games without defeat.

Needed to rotate the squad at some point (hope Pogba's wincing wasn't too serious), but in hindsight starting Pereira and Mata against the Gumbys might not have been the best idea. It feels like the team played too much to Burnley's strengths today and the the margins and the Moss just wasn't in our favor. Great final push to secure a result, too bad the man in black didn't want any of it.

Couldn't watch the game but see that Lukaku started with rash out wide... How were we in attack?

Fair play to United. Fine comeback. First time they came up against adversity under OGS and they responded well. Wouldn't be too hard on Solksjaer re playing Perreira and Mata. How can he judge players unless the play. I expect him to be United's manager full time.

I hope they fecking relegate. cnuts.
I can't stand Sean Dyche. He says he hates diving in the sport, like who doesn't, but apparently it's OK to time-cheat. Every fecking time we play them, they'll waste time instead of engaging in a game of football. Why do they bother staying in the PL if you don't want to play?

Burnley did well - organised and hard working. We weren't good enough.

Was happy to see Ole not make any knee jerk reactions when we went a goal down, gave Pereira a chance to play on... But he just didn't look good or hungry enough today ultimately. Sell him and move on, there's good reason he doesn't play ever at 23 years old.

Good comeback, good fight, can't win them all. You don't become a great team by having it easy.

Comeback was good and that's kind of it.

In regards to the possible result, I'm sorry, but Rash should've netted that change and the game would've been completely different.

I might be a hater now, but Mata and Lukaku should be nowhere near the starting 11. Andreas needs a few games in the reserves, he looked lost out there.

THIS.
Before the game people moaned we didn't rotate now they're moaning about not keeping the same 11. I for one absolutely loved the comeback, we will never win all our games but the willingness to keep going regardless the scoreline was just fergie like:):):).
