Lots of glossing going on, Lukuku had more PL experience then Morata at the age of 20 than Morata has had this season. Why is this comparison so important, comparing and making judgement this season is silly
Theres every chance Morata wont be at Chelsea next year though and theres a reason for that.
Its not as if this year is an outlier for him, what you're saying is we should wait and see if he improves to a standard that he hasn't even hinted at reaching.
He's going to be 26 next year, the improvement is done. He is what he is.

Lukaku had zero experience leading the line at a top team. This is something that barely gets a mention. On the other hand Morata has played for clubs that had better players and were higher profile ones than Chelsea.

He might not be here next season. So far he has flopped and they might as well cut their loses like we did with Di Maria(for other reasons).

You're really trying to hard to find any excuses whatever weak they're for his terrible record and performance aren't you ?
It’s bizarre, I mean, according to @starman it’s not even Morata’s fault that his own manager doesn’t trust him.

That’s face palm stuff. Morata has been wank, falls over too often & is an awful finisher whenever he has a second to think about what he’s doing. That’s why Conte has no faith, not just cause he’s a mean bastard who doesn’t like Spanish blokes.

Morata would have around 5 goals in all competition for us considering our crossing.

Lukaku is far more rounded, clinical, mentally stronger. Can't see Morata leading Chelsea line next season.

You glossed over with what i said in that Lukuku has played 99% of the time. Lukuku in the league has played almost 1000 minutes more, and only has 5 more goals while being the main striker throughout the whole season. And Lukaku has had his fair share of misses. Some of the posts on here is seem like the comparison is between Kane and Morata..
Morata actually managed to miss 6 more big chances in the league in 800 minutes less.

What you argued, is actually a justification for why Lukaku was a safer bet for Utd.
Despite hoping for Morata to join us last summer, I am now very happy that we got Lukaku instead.
Jose worked with both players and he knows who fits the team and the league better.

Lukaku was a youngster and how come this "PL experience" became so important now when the common thinking was "PL experience" when signing players is bs?

Morata is not a youngster, his struggle has nothing to do with PL experience. If it was, he wouldn't have got so many chances to score. Problem is his finishing ability with his feet.

Also funny some guy (@James Peril or someone) said if Morata was playing for United he would have scored more than Lukaku and Lukaku would have scored less for Chelsea than Morata. FFS morata leads the table in big chances missed, Chelsea creates so many chances which he misses and somehow the poster think Morata would be scoring lot of goals for United when we don't have single player who can play to Morata's strengths (early crosses)

People have made up their mind so started to make every excuse possible to justify their opinion.

He hates Lukaku. Nothing will change his mind. The kind of hypotheticals people will invent to justify their opinion because the facts aren't there to support it.

Oh at least i remember the correct poster then.

Yeah, it makes no sense. Nothing support his argument. So many have started to invent things to have a go at players and it's just laughable.

Maybe these guys think they will get medal if they stick to their opinions.

Don't understand why people are saying that Morata will be better next season. There's no season evidence supporting the fact that whether he'll be better or not. Aguero/Torres came from Spain at a similar age and scored a bucketload of goals in their first season. Aubameyang is scoring goals inspite of having no PL experience. "PL Experience" isn't necessary to score goals when you're playing as a lone striker.

Well, without Lukaku we most likely wouldn't be making top four this season. Without Morata nothing would be different for Chelsea. That's how I see it.
You could argue that with a striker who can actually finish their chances, Chelsea would be in the top four.

I reckon if they still had Costa instead of Morata they'd be comfortably in the top four.

I love people trotting out the goals per minute stat, as morata keeps getting subbed off due to poor performances.

United attack nonexistent without Lukaku...now try imagining how rough this season would have been if we ended up with Morata instead. Probably 5th-7th place.

That is all.

Morata is currently being benched by Giroud. If that isn't a damning indictment of his first season then nothing else is.

I actually like Giroud. Honestly don't think Lukaku is much better.

I think he will become better for what it's worth, but I expected more from him this season. Should aim for 25 Premier League goals every season. Pretty far away this year.

I do think there’s a lot of scope for improvement from both Lukaku and Morata, but Lukaku was better this season.

The game Chelsea beat us Morata was outstanding.

Is this the first our_player vs their_player thread that we have won. @MaxiPaxi deserves a final after all the failures in these type of threads we had in the last few years.

And so, it ends. The greatest thread of them all, rivalling the Messi v Ronaldo chain, Lukaku has outlasted and outperformed one of the most underwhelming strikers in Chelsea history. Bon voyage Morata.

Lukaku:
Appearances: 55
Goals:24

Morata:
Appearances: 47
Goals:16

I don't think those statistics accurately represent just how shite Morata actually was for Chelsea.

Morata actually had a pretty decent start. 9 goals and 4 assists in 16 PL games (3 of those goals were against Stoke however). Then it just fell to shit.

Lukaku wins by virtue of still being in the Premier League.

Although I think Morata would have been slightly better at us than he was at Chelsea.

I wonder how Morata would do under Ole. He could have better link up play but he'd still miss shit loads of sitters

You must've missed the amazing Kante vs Schneiderlin thread.
I think I did miss that one  To be fair, Kante is class so that would have ended up a one sided rivalry. Lukaku and Morata have both been as underwhelming for United and Chelsea as they could possibly have been.

The resistible force versus the movable object.

Whoever wins, we lose.
This sums it up pretty well :lol:

Nah, morata's girly attitude wouldn't have worked here under Jose. If anything lukaku would have been better at Chelsea especially they have been playing without one.

True, at least Kante held up his end. Was a bit of a tragedy - at first, it was yes! We've got Schneiderlin!! Watch how he transforms us... little by little it dawned on the masses he was a disastrous signing and by the end, it looked like a mental thread to have even been made given the players became polar opposites of each other in terms of career and performance trajectory.

Both are :

- mid table quality
- both cant handle the pressure of being tve man responsible for the win , week in week out
- both excelled when under less pressure
- both are not strikers, strikers always know where thr goal is, when a striker in one on ine against a defender inside 20 yards more often than not they score

Both teams could do better
