To turn up against PSG with that midfield, Young, McTom, Fred and Andreas and get a result is bloody fantastic!

The extra Ole is managing to get out of the team is amazing, deal is done, no chance Ole isn’t getting the job now surely!

Great result to wake up to. Really wasn't expecting it. Glad to hear that the boys managed to pull it off.

Dig up stupid!
The morning after the night before and you can consider the game a bit more realistically.

The pros from utd are all about the character of the boys. Absolutely extraordinary effort and application. Not a single first choice midfielder away from home in a CL game your 2-0 down in, absolutely incredible. Everyone one of them is a credit to the club, a result that'll go into the history books. A special mention to the 2 up front for putting the chances away, clinical from Rom and giant ice filled balls from Rashers. Just brilliant.

Let's be honest though the game was very much lost by PSG. A crazy backpass, a spillage and a pen - all self inflicted and once again they crash out in embarrassing circumstances. There's no question there's an attitude issue there, they were playing well with the game in their hands and they took their foot off the gas perhaps they thought they could score at any time following the opening 20 mins but second half particularly they showed little invention and when they did get in were sloppy. For all the praise utd rightly deserve for their character last night it is the character of psg that deserves most criticism of all. Disgrace gets thrown around a lot in football but to go out from that position (something never done before) is disgraceful.

With a quick regard to the penalty. I didn't think it was at the time and wouldn't have complained had it not been awarded. However sometimes a players reaction can tell you a lot (they are human afterall) and kimpembe was a picture from the moment the review started, he looked a guilty man and did not once protest against the decision. The replay showed him watching the ball onto his arm and I think he knew full well what had happened. Its something you get away with 100% of the time without var but I suspect it was very much deliberate

Historical night, just fantastic for the club considering the state of the team a couple of months ago. We've got our United back

Never in doubt!

Had money on United to go through, United to win, United to win both halves, United to win one half, United to score a pen, Rashford to score a goal and assist, Lukaku to score and Rashford to score.

It's seriously starting to look like some of that SAF black magic is back in the team with Ole. Just grinding out results, not seen since his days. The character of the whole team was incredible, you could see they had faith all the way to the end and it spills over on the fans. Seeing players like McTominay, Fred and Pereira rise to the occasion is truly inspiring.

For me the MOTM was Shaw, even if Lukaku and Rashford scored the goals, he was rock solid all the match.

I was biting my nails watching the replay earlier. I still can't believe it . The electricity is still running through my arms. I haven't felt like this since united won the CL in 08. Anything is possible! GGMU:devil:

What a great result for you guys! As Ajax fan these last two days couldn't be much better. I was really done with Man United under Mourinho, but since Ole comes it's fun again to watch you guys play.

In Amsterdam we like to play with a young talented team and it's so nice to see guys like Greenwood and Chong coming on for you in such a huge match for the club. It's such a positive sign for football that two clubs with such a big history reached the CL quarter finals by using young prospects. I would like to propose that we do the 2017 Europa League final all over in Madrid this year, but with another outcome of course ;)

Ha ha ! Love it. At the end the camera was on him for several seconds. He looked shell shocked. We are Man Utd!
The camera operator/director must be a man utd supporter. Great footage.
Some great images from this game which for me are up there with our euro wins. Never forget how Rashford grabbed the ball to take the penalty. What a man and player.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!

You're result was perhaps better on paper, but when you factor in our injuries and suspensions I think we probably both experienced the same kind of emotions at the final whistle.

Great post! Pity about the ending though, you were doing so well until the last five words too :p

My Mrs had Cancer 2 years back, only just got clear of the meds this month in fact, so I kinda do know why you mentioned it. Talking is a good coping mechanism, and it's one of the very positive things about the internet that doesn't get said enough. Connecting with people, knowing you're not alone (blah blah blah) is a really good way of staving off the inevitable shut in instincts people (largely men) have in crisis situations...Never feel bad about sharing shit ... Even if it is in the Post Match section of the largest Manchester United football forum!
Well said.

Just got into work and some thoughts from my wotkmate who supports Chelsea.

(I joked to him yesterday Lukaku eho he doesn't rate would score 2)

1st : United were lucky, Mbappe missed loads and should have got a penalty. He didn't slip when he was through on goal, Smalling pushed him.

2: Never a penalty because Dalots shot was never going in.

3: PSG were missing a lot of players.

Thankfully I've been moved to another desk far away from him.

Lads, last night the history has been written once again by our UTD.

Game wise, we were gifted 2 goals by PSG (penalty was a penalty, CB made himself big with his arm in unnatural position), but credit to us because we took the chances that was presented to us and to do what we have done with some many injuries, is nothing short of amazing.

Cue in the next round baby!!!

Haha I just had to sneak that last part in, but yeah there should be some similar emotions at the end. I think few people gave either of our teams a change after the first match, but this is why we love this sport isn't it?

We're through to the next round. Sacking Mourinho made this all possible. I still rate the sacking best result of the season.

We've re-written history & broken records so often in the post SAF years - and mostly for all the wrong reasons.

Feels so fecking good to be breaking records and re-writing history for the right reasons

Still absolutely buzzing. Hardly slept a wink last night.

The state of the match thread though. Some were discussing how badly wrong Ole had gotten it, and "shithouse tactics" was mentioned. I just can't comprehend some people.

Wow! Simply amazing!!! I love Manchester United...

A brilliant result... I watched the game alone, but I certainly didn't celebrate alone. I think what we have on this forum is brilliant! A Manchester United community - I have felt that this last few hours more than I have in a long time. Very grateful to all of you for that.

You have definitely helped make this even more memorable!

Managed my first drunk post at this forum 5 hours ago, now for the first hungover (although, probably just less drunk) one.

I know this has absolutely nothing to do with the people of Norway, but as a tiny tiny nation on the world map, reading the headlines this morning, im just so incredibly proud of Ole. Last night was incredible.

Romelu Lukaku: 10/10 mate. When push comes to shove, MAN what an effort. Rashford, you incredible little man, the way he just knocks that one in on overtime, after all the bullsiht the PSG players did to throw him off. I think i just went through puberty again on that one.

Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot, Young. Man, did you guys clean up back there.

DeGea: How the f**k did you reach that ball when Mbappe was through? I havent seen arms that long since i saw the first Inspector Gadget-movie 20 years ago.

And now. The midfield.

Fred, McTominay, Pereira. Im just in awe. Im lost for words.

And who is even Chong and Greenwood? At least 70% of the people i watched the match with last night didnt have a clue on who they were when they came on. Greenwood, youngest player with minutes in Champions League for United, ever. If thats not the United way.. Man..

Thanks Ole, thanks United, thanks England, thanks DiMaria. This was history in the making, and unlike the moon landing, i actually got to watch this live.

GET IN.

Smalling, Lindelöf and Shaw. These three in addition to De Gea have been massive for us recently. Yesterday they showed yet again that they can be relied upon.

Lindelöf was the only player who kept composed and tried to bring the ball down and play after the 0-1 lead when PSG pressed heavily. What he did under those circumstances really impressed me and just shows that he is someone who doesn’t let the occation get to him. Pretty much everyone else lost the ball repeatedly and didn’t cope very well with the way PSG pressed. Lindelöf however did exactly that, cope with it and made some good passes instead of kicking the ball away.

After the game a Liverpool fan told me that Smalling reminded him of Van Dijk today. Now, I think it’s a little far-fetched to compare Smalling to the best center back in the world, but he had an aura and calmness about him today. Brilliant performance on a big occation. The way we defended after Bailly was subbed off was incredible. I think PSG had something like three shots in the last hour of the game.

Shaw is so good these days. Consistent, incredible defending, good decision making on the ball and contributes well in attack too. He’s everything I was hoping he’d turn out to be. Let’s just hope he keeps it up.

I have actual tears in my eyes while I'm going through this thread!

Looking at the reactions of players, fans, ex-players, pundits and even compliments from rival fans.

To put it into perspective I'd forgotten we even had a player called Martial until I saw his celebration video :wenger:

Like many on here I got a bollocking when I finally crawled drunkenly into bed for the racket I made when I turned the still German night air blue with my screaming celebrations as Marcus buried that penalty. The volume apparently ramped up while the ref allowed play to go on into the 100th minute as I was sure the dream would be cruelly taken away by FIFA bowing to oil money once again! My decision to drink a few more beers and start going through reactions was, on reflection, probably ill-advised! As was trying to explain the significance of what had just happened to my GF when I finally hit the sack at around 1:30am.

Being immediately evicted to the couch backfired on her though because it's far too near the fridge where all the cold beer was!
When rashford scored i was making sounds i didnt think humanly possible

Wow...just wow! Amazing result! The team is buzzing, such a pleasure to watch as opposed to Van Morrison and Boorinho. Loving watching the team play again. Thanks Ole!
