That's a thread for discussing the complete and total lack of effectiveness of the leader of the opposition.
This is a discussion of the actions of the British Army, whom the current government have explicitly supported shooting unarmed political opponents only a couple of weeks ago in their response to the Bloody Sunday prosecution.

Ref the army... please tell me what experience you have of the army and how this is really any different than somebody pinning a picture of jezbollah to a dartboard

You seriously don't see anything wrong with the army of a country shooting at the leader of the opposition in mock fire trials?

It’s the Army shooting a member of the government’s picture.

Please tell me how it is similar...

What a clever correction. I bet you think JRM is the epitome of droll wit.

As for experience of the army, they came into my country and killed over 150 innocent civilians. The current government praise them for that and want them immune from both historical and current prosecution. Anybody should see that as a terrifying attempt to rewrite the rules of combat.

As for your daft dartboard question, if someone sent you a bullet in the post with your name on it, would you just bin it with the various other leaflets?

That's before we even touch on the fact that paying state forces to practice shooting the leader of the opposition is the action of a fecking banana republic

Come on, that's just nonsense. This 4 soldiers out of 80000 acting like idiots. Its simply cannot be taken as representative of the army as whole.

Wow, who’d have ever thought that the British army was full of braindead right wingers?

Organisational culture comes from the top. Look at what happened on bloody Sunday then look at the response from the current Minister for defence. He wants not only the soldiers from that day, but soldiers today who do similar, to be free from fear of prosecution. What is that if not a literal licence to kill with impunity?

i doubt id bin it... i have a bit of experience with guns and that does not sound like a very safe way of handling ammo ... Plus I am looking for somebody to engrave my Reverso though so depending how skillfully they had put my name on the bullet I might need to track them down.

As for JRM... well as somebody who contributed to Labour for years until jezbollah dragged us into the the depths of unelectability I can say that i am no fan of his politics (I do think he manages his image effectively though and I suspect he would be a better dinner party guest than corbyn)

Jacob tends to dine with groups that want to 'repatriate black Britons', but you do you.

No doubt there are lots of knuckle draggers and headbangers in the army (I grew up with some) but the actions of 0.00005% of the army doesn't go anyway to proving anything about the unit as a whole.

No, but the word and actions of their leaders and paymasters do.

Editing my own posts.
Repeatedly calling him “Jezbollah” in a thread about the British army using the image if a sitting MP for target practice, in a month when he’s already been attacked by a member of the public, in a general climate where a Labour MP has actually been killed in such a way, after the national press has repeatedly encouraged the right wing to think of the left as traitors... is suuuuuper funny, btw. And doesn’t at all come across as one of those really pathetic jokes your boring mate’s dad in the pub just wont stop making, despite everyone rolling their eyes at him and slowly moving away.

The same people that think Momentum members calling people Blairites and gammon shows that they are a hateful group think that this shouldn’t reflect on the British Army as a whole

It’s incredible the way the world has gone recently. Being right wing has been encouraged no end and they’ve somehow been empowered. The irony of (likely many many) British soldiers being right wing isn’t lost on me either. They’re probably dead patriotic about WWII too.

Insane, but not entirely unexpected. There are segments of the British Army that act like that, unfortunate.

i do not think this should be thrown in with more serious issues involving the army ,as long as the idiots involved face a reprimand and understand their foolishness

Plotting, and training, to kill the leader of the opposition is a terrorist offence and should be treated as such. Any less and it shows where your banana republic is going by sanctioning this.

a civilised society matches the level of the crime to the punishment and does not have a knee jerk over-reaction.

They're in an overseas camp training to kill a prominent British politician. Were there not calls from Tories to revoke the citizenship of people like that?

The press really have done a number on Corbyn in the UK. People seem to legitimately think he's out to destroy the country or turn us into a communist state or something...

My old man told me "he's a bloody commie", but of course when I asked him to name a policy which made him think that he couldn't name one. Nor actually name any of his policies for that matter. When we explored that a bit further it turns out he actually agreed with a lot of his policies, too, but still hates him

What else do you call practicing shooting a specific person?
Are you for real?

They aren't a hit squad practising to eliminate a genuine target. They're a bunch of soldiers messing about because they have time on their hands.

It's a joke, they obviously don't like him and thought it would be funny. The most stupid thing about it is that someone thought it would be a good idea to stick a recording of it on social media.

What the hell

It's highly inappropriate and those involved need dealing with internally but nothing more.

You need to write for a tabloid.
