Whats wrong with some of you!?

Reading PL match day thread, people posting stuff like "good shit" after Liverpool scored vs Chelsea. I just dont understand, can you imagine the days and months after Liverpool winning the bloody thing. Just a thought of it makes me sick and i am from Serbia and dont know a single Liverpool fan around me. Put yourself in position of your fellow United fans in England.

Whats up with top 4 shit anyway, are we Arsenal MkII or what?

Let me guess, top 4 means we can attract better players. Ok, how many quality we attracted with our CL participation since SAF? Specially in our case, where, after how many years we still walking blindfolded with almost no progress, no idea behind our football and no vision.

Another can be that if we dont take part of it, we cant win it but lets be real, even this season we are still in it, we scored only one home game in CL, if there wasnt Afro i think, it would be zero. I mean come on. How can you have a go at Glazers or EW, if you have similar thinking as them.

On other side we have Liverpool winning a PL, sorry, majority might not agree with me but if i have to choose top 4 or Liverpool PL champion, top 4 can feck off.
I really couldn't give a shite about champions league since we wont win it regardless. What I do fear is the potential loss of money from it. I would say feck off to top 4 if it didnt hamper close to 60 million from UEFA(not sure on that amount by the way, it could be more or less). It hampers our future and when it all comes down to it thats what really matters. I'm still feck liverpool winning the league but you guys have to be mature and realize its us over everything.

Of course playing in the champions league is more appealing. Offering the best terms...?

If it was as simple as you make out - we would have an incredible team already. We don’t.
By terms I mean money of course. It is very much that simple actually, problem is we go for wrong players. I don't believe in that crap that finishing 5th or scraping 4th would make a massive influence for any player willing to join us.

Sums it up pretty nicely. I really don’t get how anyone can argue against this.
It's simple, a season in the Europa league would be a lot better than watching Liverpool win the league.

I mean seriously, Klopp, Dalglish, Fowler etc with the trophy; endless media glorification and everyone blabbering on about it for decades... a fourth place finish isn't compensation for that.

So let’s settle for mediocrity and not achieving bare minimum targets, as long as Liverpool don’t win the league...no thanks. I want Manchester United to do well, I’d rather stop all our rivals winning the league by winning it ourselves.
That's what we have been reduced too, party poopers.

I honestly think some of our fans are sick of winning and are willing to give mediocrity try, chasing the 'Fergie way' just like Liverpool wanted to replicate 'the boot room' for a year or two and if it doesn't work, then we will get good.

Can't stand Liverpool and their deluded fans but top 4 is more important to us than Liverpool winning the league. Being out of the CL will make it difficult for Ole and the club in the transfer window and EL is not the best preparation for the league games either.

I feel like we're going in circles. Let's just agree to disagree. In my opinion, we have a 1% chance of winning the UCL next year. And that for me is not enough to allow a entire season of goading and bragging from Liverpool fans and pundits.
Can't we at least wait until the summer transfer window is over before writing off our chances in a cup competition that had been won by teams such as 2005 Liverpool or 2012 Chelsea?

I don't want City or Liverpool to win the league, almost anyone but one of those two, but one of them will.

Although us winning the champions league this year or next year is also unlikely, I do want us at least be in it,
its nothing to do with accepting mediocrity, or celebrating 3rd or 4th place, it's a means to an end,
we had no chance before ole arrived, now we have a chance.

Some players will still come for the money, and some hopefully come because they believe United are
finally going to be back challenging at the top, some don't want to come for many reasons, not everyone
wanted to come when we dominated English football and were Winning and challenging in the Champions League.

I don't care about anyone else, and I don't care who may or may not benefit from United winning a particular match.

If I had to choose it would be City, for me that's fractionally more bearable, but I would never want United to lose any
match to help make that more possible.

I support United, the rest don't matter enough for me to give a sh*t

The question is, what's wrong with you and many other United supporters? The fact that you'd take United finishing out of top 4 over Liverpool winning the league is fecking mental. How do you expect United to get back to winning ways if the club hierarchy ran the club with that mentality? Thank feck they don't and won't. Never in a million years will Ole or the players throw a match that would help City win the league just to prevent Liverpool from winning. Here's something for you to think about. If United lose out on top 4, it WILL affect spending in the transfer market. How is that going to help United next season? Liverpool might win the league. Who fecking cares. I care more about United playing CL next season than anything else left in this season.

I love all this "feck the CL, we wont win it anyway!" bullshit. Like that game at PSG wasnt the highlight of the fecking the season. We wont win it, so I guess we shouldnt bother trying to win any games unless its set in stone that we'll win.

Not a big deal, we dont know to spend money anyway, not a single idea behind it in last couple years. I believe our problems are such that we can not buy our way out of it.

Thats totally fine.

First of all, I hate Liverpool. Even my mum thinks I hate them too much. However, I love this club more than I hate them. Failure to play in the champions league next season would make it the fourth time in seven season we are out of Europe's top tier. How can we call ourselves a big club when we are constantly playing Europa League?
Are you going to console yourself when we are playing in Thursday nights with the fact that Liverpool didn't win the league?
I love this club and want what is best for it. No one will convince me playing another season of Europa League won't hurt this club. If Liverpool win the league, best of luck to them and feck em. I want us to do well. Hope we smash City next week.

We signed Pogba, Zlatan, Falcao, Di Maria, Schweinsteiger with no UCL football to offer. I don't think it holds as much significance as people make out.
Well let's hope we don't repeat those mistakes, whatever happens. A few players who can actually cut it in the Premier League, and are not expecting their free buss pass anytime soon, would be nice.

This with fooking bells on.

First and foremost I’ll always want what is best for United and make no mistake, Solksjaer will be desperate for it. He doesn’t have the big name for attracting players like Mourinho had and add to that he’ll be desperate to keep his best players happy. Getting top 4 isn’t an ”Arsenal-trophy”, but it would be a major success for the manager when you consider the situation he took over.
Everything about finishing top 4 this season is better for every aspect of the club, I couldn’t give a shit if that means Liverpool have won 1 league title in almost 3 decades.

Zlatan signed 100% for Mourinho.

Pogba signed as the most expensive player in the World at a time when the biggest name manager had taken over, Zlatan had been added and for a club he always harbored an intention to return to due to his past.

Falcao was on the loan scrap heap.

Di Maria wanted to go to PSG but was blocked.

The less said about ze German the better.

All these people getting emotionally hurt and attached to Liverpool & them winning the tile over us getting top 4.

And yet they want players like Sancho, felix & de ligt at our club :wenger: bet they are dying to play at an europa league club..

Liverpool & City don't matter to me; they don't even occur in my dreams or nightmares unlike the 'true fans of United'
I'm sorry but supporting your club and wanting them to do well, goes hand in hand with wanting your rivals to fail. Call it petty, call it small time, call it what you want but it is what it is.

Caring how well your rivals are doing is what spurs you on, and it's what drove Fergie to get us to the top. He wanted to knock them off their perch, and he did.

Liverpool winning the league after SAF dedicated his life to ending them or us making it 4/7 seasons out of top 4.

Pretty easy choice there

I see this Arsenal mk ii shit a lot but I'm not celebrating top 4 or calling it a success like Poch fanciers do. It's a relief to get into top 4 and it's important to either attract or keep players plus our players can learn and gain experience playing in it.

In case you didn't know, if we miss top 4 this season that will make it only twice in six years we've made it.

feck Liverpool, I care about Manchester United more.

Partially because we also hired Mourinho at the exact same time as Pogba and Zlatan and we were seen to be making a resurgence. What's there now if we don't get top 4? Uncertainty under Ole?

Di Maria and Bastian were no longer wanted at their clubs, can't remember who we signed Falcao from but I barely even remember him being here.

True we can attract talent without CL, but we'd have to overpay, and I really doubt the likes of Koulibaly, Sancho, Mendy, De Light want to trade CL football for thursday night EL football so it just makes our task that much the harder. We're already seen as the tier 2 of clubs currently, below the likes of Real, Barca, City and even Liverpool. I think people are underestimating just how badly we need top players and just how unnatractive we are currently compared to the other top teams.

I'm guessing there are many posters in the 'finish 5th to ensure Liverpool don't win the title' are of a younger generation. Some of us have seen Liverpool win titles, they've done it before and will do it again. What's important is that we get ourselves in a position to stop them winning 20 before we win 21!

My biggest fear is seeing them win the title and the Champions' League, which is looking like a possibility, given their good fortune so far this season.

We also don't want to see City to a quadruple, although I suspect it will inevitably come along before Pep moves on.

But I also don't see what the big issue is with the Europa League. Any European competition is better than none, and winning it brings a Champion's League spot. One thing Jose will always be remembered for is delivering not only our first post Sir Alex European trophy, but also completing our full set of all club competitions - something no other British club has ever done. I'd not complain if Ole delivered a Europa League should we miss out on top 4 this season.

The real nightmare scenario is though that if City beat Liverpool to the title and the go on to win both the CL and the FA Cup meaning they have trumped UTDs 1999 Treble winning season with their own quadruple.

Given that scenario who would then begrudge Liverpool their first title in nearly three decades?

Why would we want to be the best team by other teams failing rather than us beating them?

Being in the UCL has much more long term benefit season to season than Liverpool who at max will likely just win one league if that.

It ultimately comes down to whether you love United more than you hate Liverpool, which I do hence want us to get TOP 4 and CL football. That aside, their win against Chelsea has hardly given them the trophy yet, has it.

That goes for most of us. One year without CL? Big deal. Liverpool’s streak of no title continuing past 30 years? Priceless.

Give me Liverpool winning the league over City winning the quadruple. Give me Liverpool winning the league and United getting top 4 over City winning and United finishing 5th or 6th. People are talking as if City is some great alternative. Of course we'd all prefer City, but a combo of United missing top 4 and City winning everything is probably worse than Liverpool winning the prem and United ending top 4.

Interested to see if you are from Manchester? I feel United supporters from Manchester may feel differently but otherwise it's usually Liverpool fans that piss us off the most?

Not from Manchester but been a United supporter my whole life. I dunno, just feel like it should always be United #1. I understand not wanting Liverpool to win the title, but at the expense of our own club with our 2nd biggest rivals being the beneficiaries? Just cany get my head around that short sighted logic

I understand. I however know way too many Liverpool fans for my own liking and the Premier League wins are the biggest hold we have over them. Kevin Keegan moment.... I'd love it if they didn't win the league this year. The Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge season was fecking close, and that failure was a great source of enjoyment for me.

If Liverpool were to fail this time, this would top the lot. We could conceivably come back stronger with 4 or 5 new signings next season and try and celebrate our own success and not their failure. But I'd take it for now at this point in the season.

I was supporting City when they beat us the year Gerrard slipped. We lost 0-3 under that prick, Moyes.
So nothing new for me to do it again.

I think it's the older generation who would see Utd finish 5th to ensure Liverpool don't win the league because we know what it's like living in the era when they thought they invented football. The younger generation don't see them as being our rivals, because in reality they haven't been our rivals for the last 25 or so years.

As a Liverpool fan, I must say this is a funny thread. People that don't get what the op is saying have no idea in reality what this rivalry is all about.

I've been in this position as a fan numerous times and United not winning it > top 4 every single time and then twice on Sunday.

Most of the people here have no idea what's like when the old enemy is at it's best. Next season, if we're Champions and United, are out of the CL in the 1/8 finals

do you honestly think someone in here would care about that hollow top4 finish besides Woodward?

If let's say you guys beat City do you think we're ever going to let you forget you actually helped us?

We've been trolled to the hilt for over two decades and there are still people that think that top4 is more important.

Me personally, I literally can't wait to give some back to my mates, and that is why football is grand.

Ideal scenario is Liverpool winning the league, City winning fa cup and champions league and us finishing 6th just to reiterate how chit we have become and maybe we 'll start massively spending on quality players, in two years time win the league.
