Solskjaer gives team news
The squad is looking good and getting better and better, I have to say. Ander is back in training - he’s been working really hard. Eric (Bailly) will be back in training over the weekend, Antonio (Valencia) we're not sure about yet.

“We'll have 20 training this morning, plus the keepers, which is not bad. Nemanja (Matic) and Alexis (Sanchez) had a good session yesterday as well, so they will probably be involved.

I don't envy him. The size of the task facing him and this club is huge.

Solskjaer on transfers
I don’t know if all these critics know what’s happening, we’ve got scouts scouring the planet for good footballers and we’ll sign players we think are the right fit, personality wise, price wise, quality wise and can you have longevity at this club and I’m confident we’ll get the players.

Tough days?
Tough moving on and re-focusing?

You have to get on with it quickly and just accept we’re out of Champions League, no shame in going out to Barcelona and we know we’re behind over the two leg then again the disappointment on the night is we had a go, had a great start and couldn’t take advantage of the first 15 mins and we seemed to surprised them with energy and enthusiasm. Then two goals and game over. Attitude and effort was good you have to stick together, you now you’re out and the lads worked together and stuck together and make sure we van go into these three games in a decent state.

The Everton game
Having had the disappointment does it help there’s so much riding on these next games?

Great to have a game to look forward to, we spoke about it, forget about this, we’re out, we wanna be here again and to be back at these stadiums we need to be in top four, fantastic week, players in a good state mentally and they’re strong mentally and at Goodison it’s gonna be a hard game.

Injury update
How are you shaping up?

We’re looking good. Ander’s back in training, no one out from the Barca game so a good squad in training this morning, 22 or 23 players.

It's huge but he has nothing to lose.

Ole has the luxury of coming in mid-season to fully assess the squad without much pressure of getting any tangible results.

On players proving themselves
A lot of rumours between now and the end of the season is that an opportunity for players to prove they're in your thoughts going forward?

Every day in training, every game when you’re playing there’s no hiding place and everyone can see what your level’s at we’re working with fantastic staff to create this culture, players to take ownership of what’s happening here as well but the performances on the pitch will determine where they’re at in their careers if it’s short term or long term every single day and that’s what we spoke about at Barca, when you’re at big stadiums, you’ve got to step up, make good decisions and I’m looking forward to this period.

No you’re wrong! He should be winning every single match with Fergie’s, Van Gaal’s and Jose’s players! Zidane would have us top of the league now and into the final of the World Cup!

On top four
Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal still in Europe will that give you a boost?

Will give them a boost playing those games, that’s what you want, we’d have loved to have a semi-final to play in but not the case. These three games are our short term focus and shouldn’t think about anything but having a great week.

Players dipping in performance
Do you think the players have dropped since you got the job permanently?

I don’t think so no, that’s football, margins, we’ve said we’ve lost two league games, Watford and Arsenal, those games we shouldn’t have talked about losing, we won games we maybe didn’t deserve, it evens itself out but players know what’s gonna happen, we know what I expect, as a club what we want to do that’s football.

When we came in 19 Dec and where we’re at now, I think anyone would have taken that now we’ve got five games to see if we can finish it off.

On the summer transfer window
Last summer was frustrating transfer wise, going to be a big summer for you, are you confident you won’t suffer the same frustrations?

Yeah because I’ve been speaking to the club, we know that we have to be realistic and have a job to be done, there’s no quick fix, it’s not like buy seven players and we’re in the right shape, we have to take step by step and there’ll be signings made but also has to be thoughts about players, sit down, have a pre-season. I can’t wait for it to come, there’ll be some additions, the players have got to come back and know what is expected of them, take ownership of that while on holiday and it will be great to see who’s coming back and as I said first of all this focus has to be on Everton.

Wait has the journo phrased the above quotes as that in the tweet? Really?

Fair play, positive vibes and words. Like the “reality check” line.
Needed to be said. Ole is very good at these pressers. I can see players enjoying playing for him, night and day from the depressing days of Jose.

I like that.

It seems the “friendship” era is now over and he’s down to serious business. Seems like a few players have only a few games left to keep their jobs here.

Ole knows what a good player looks like, but reshaping the squad won’t happen in 1 window. I hope we get it right this summer as we need a quick improvement.

Love the sound of that. Some of our players are taking the piss. Good that he's also defending the club transfer wise.

some of the players? The most positive things us fans have been able to say about this squad for weeks now is that "fred and mctominay are playing ok" and "wow sanchez had an ok 10 minutes against barca". About 6 players should be dropped for academy players just to send a message. Bluster at a press conference isn't enough.

Getting to know the players
Have you learnt more about them in the past few weeks then the first few weeks?

Not sure about that, learnt a lot about them over the months here now and you get to know them, most of them have really impressed in their attitude and some need to get a reality check of where they’re at but most of these know they can improve if they keep working as they do.

On Martial
Is Anthony Martial one of those who needs a reality check?

I’ve spoken to individuals and they know and Anthony is one I’ve spoken to, what we expect from them, Anthony’s got a massive talent, got a new contract he knows we believe in him, so just keep working.

When you see the likes of Mane, Firmino, Salah etc does he need to be able to deliver more consistently on goals?

I think anyone that plays for MU has to deliver, to stay in the squad and stay in the team and Anthony is no different to Rashy or Rom or Alexis or the many forwards we have to choose form and that’s the great thing about it now it’s down to players, ownership they take coming back pre-season but I don’t wanna talk about pre-season now.

On goals
Are there enough goals in this squad?

I think that’s not bad we wanna score more goals, always wanna see a 4-0 win but if you can get it less than one every we play I think it’ll end up quite high.

Martial fanboys won’t be happy! Well said Ole.
He hasn't singled out Martial at all. The interviewee asked about Martial so he replied like that but said in the next paragraph the same applies to rashford, Lukaku and Sanchez too.

Like this part. Poeple who have no idea what is going on are being critical. That Ole is this defensive of the club to my mind, suggests he's well part of the process.

Technically that would be a good quick-fix. Buy 7 new players, sell 7 duds we have currently. But ok, atleast there is an intent to spend well this summer. This has been one of the most exciting seasons for neutrals and fans of other teams, but probably the worst season for us since Moyes despite making CL QF -- the initial misery of Mourinho, Pogba controversies, Out of the top 4, watching Liverpool and City compete for all the big trophies with a real danger of a Liverpool double, and every one of the Top 6 except ourselves being involved in some cup competition even now (Arsenal and Chelsea in Europa, Spurs in CL, Liverpool in CL and PL, City in PL and FA Cup).

So we need a really good and efficient summer to compensate for this shitshow.

Exactly, and I don't think he's impressed with any of his forwards either.

Honestly. I think most will be. We need to get the best out of him. He needs to be challenged to deliver.

This is infinitely better Jose freezing him out or trying to sell him for Willian/Perisic.

Think he means buying a raft of players alone isn't a solution.

I like what he is saying a lot but have I misread about him saying he will wait on current players to come back after holidays to see how they are then - as in they may get another chance, isn't half a season enough to assess the dross!?
Also I hope we have all additions in ready for pre season, no fecking about and it certainly cannot be 1 or 2 because that is a joke if true.
