Id love Son from Spurs. Big game player. Sadly spurs have ascended and don't look like a selling club any more.

Only their cast offs, like Bale;)

However if they let Eriksen's contract situation get worse, he'll be off

JPRouve has sung Ounas' praises for a while now. I don't think we'll get Felix unless it's crazy money.Sancho, same but I would like him.

We need creativity allied with a good attitude to work.
Felix would also go for a crazy fee but I feel it wouldn't be more than 80mil, considering he's not been playing in a top league.

Ounas is a good hard worker however what I've heard is that he's a bit of trouble maker which was why he was frozen out of bourdeux and even in lot of his clips, he could be seen mouthing off at opponent but as long as this doesn't affect his performance and work rates on the pitch, I don't care about temperamental players. We once had one in Catona and Roy Keane.

And I disagreed with @JPRouve that he's not good enough. He's always had a fantastic techniques, which is far better than that of Mbappe. Mbappe as a winger isn't as good except if he's playing for a counter attacking style such as France at the world cup and a counter attacking Monaco that offers him enough space for him to use his pace to exploit on the counter. Without that, he's ordinary as a winger but as a pure striker, he's good enough. Last season when PSG had Neymar injured and Mbappe was given more attention on the wing than ever, he was terrible and I mean really terrible. People said he was off form but I don't think so because how could a player who was off form, could go on to have a good game for a counter attacking France? It was basically due to the difference in the team set-up.

Same happened against us in the CL. Tuchel has been using him as a striker lately and I think that's where he should be. I made a post on Mbappe on a forum I was then and it was this:

Diademk07 :
"As a pure striker, I would take mbappe over Griezman for 80mil any day. This is a player who was France's best player at u21 euros. He's not only tricky, lightening but can lead a line. In fact, that's his best position. He can also play as a SS. As a winger, I don't think he's even worth 50 mil but as a pure no 9, I would take him for 80mil

On the other hand, Griezman has never led a line without a striker shadowing him. The point is he isn't a lead striker but a SS. So what are we talking about!"

https://www.nairaland.com/871307/official-manchester-united-fan-thread/4112#56805297

That aside, I believe Ounas could do a good job for us on the right wing.

I don’t get why we need 2 wingers, Martial is very capable on the left, just our tactics ensure he’s got to beat 3 players all the time as we have nothing on the right to stretch play. It’s generally close down Pogba and Martial who both prefer the left and that’s our creativity nullified.
Ha ha are people genuinely still coming out with this shite?

Only Sancho is impressive out of the list. The likes of Pepe, Lozano and Neres are just not good enough for us.
I don't agree. I am pretty certain people laughed at Liverpool for signing Salah because he failed at Chelsea. It's the Lozano Neres type of players that has more likelihood to flourish. Sancho I would love, but one season and probably in excess of a 100 million, very risky.

You do realise we're no longer in a position to attract or demand ready made top talent? We are now firmly in the bracket of teams who have to buy young and raw players an develop them ourselves.

Why on earth would Sancho come to Old Trafford? What can we offer him? He'd likely be sacrificing Champions League football for at least one season, most likely consecutive seasons. Risking an almost guaranteed spot for Euro 2020. Our player development is nowhere near as good as Dortmund. Our best players clearly want out. We have a manager unblooded at the top level.

The only reason he comes is for a ridiculous wage packet. And we know how that turned out before.

I would love to believe that he gets sold on the idea of this United project and maybe seduced by the idea of playing with friends in Rashford, Lingard, Gomes etc. but I don't actually believe it will happen. His agent would be mad for allowing him to risk so much on such a fairy-tale scenarios.

Their technical skills are not that impressive. Only Neres has a better technique than the two however he hardly runs at players but prefer to drift inside and linkup. I think Kluivert was even above him in the pecking order at Ajax before he left for Roma.

I want a winger who's capable of navigating through opposition that would tend to park the bus, which is going to constantly happen against us. Even Salah has struggled a lot this season because of this but lucky enough, Liverpool has Mane on the other side to cause havoc. Salah has got the pace to burn and his touch is solid but his control when running with the ball at the opponent isn't as good as that of Mane. Lozano is even worse from what I've seen. Pepe has improved but still mostly depends on space on the counter. As for Neres, he hardly runs at the opponent and he's kind of slow when running with the ball at the opposition defence hence he's often unsuccessful. He doesn't even do that often. His style is mostly based on linkups, movement etc. I won't mind Pepe at a cheap price though but I doubt he would come cheap.

To be honest, I doubt if Dortmund would sell him. However, I don't just want us signing players just for signing sake. I would rather we sign quality players and while I would want Sancho here but if it's impossible, then there are others such as Chiesa, Ounas who could be brought in at a cheaper price. Even Malcolm at Barca although he's a defensive liability and we already have one in Martial.

How is Pepe not good enough? People are knocking his goal return because of all the pens, but he’s top or second in assists in the French league, too, and Lille aren’t exactly scoring for fun. He’s scored or assisted a ridiculous percentage of their goals.

I’d take Pepe and Sancho happily and think they would be a massive upgrade on the wings and give us versatility to move players around up front.

Whatever we are discussing are all who likes to cut inside. Is there any wingers who can keep the width? Like a traditional winger?

They are called wingbacks now. We need one of those as well.

Now that Sancho is off the table then i don't really care. The rest of the options are levels below and will only serve to cement our place as a 4th/5th/6th placed team. I think we're done for a while now.
Sancho was always going to cost around £100m at least which given all the players we need was never realistic. We aren’t looking for the final piece in our team but a complete rebuild.

Mane and Salah weren’t seen as great players before they went to Liverpool, we are constantly looking for the quick fix but its going to require some patience and development.

We need to act like a team on the up with bags of money to spend. I don't see a reason why we can't still do that.

A few strong moves early in the transfer market and we'll look exciting to join again.

We are.

So we need to look at players like Pepe and decide if we can develop their game. Build a system and purchase/develop players to fit.

Instead of constantly going for world class talent and then complaining about their form when they don’t fit into ‘our system’. Square pegs round holes and all that.

We just need admit that this project is going to mean 3-4 years without a real title challenge. And actually let a manager see through his contract to completion.

In all honesty, I think we should not have given LVG any top 4 expectations and let him build a squad from scratch for the duration of his contract, regardless of our position in the league.

He was the only person who has tried to implement a clear style (even if it was dire to watch), and I can’t ever have imagined him bringing in Schweinsteiger, Falcao and Di Maria if he was told not to worry about finishing top 4.

Liverpool bought their front line from Southampton, hoffenheim and roma. We don't need big money signing to improve the attack. We require good scouting and smart coaching.

As long as we don't have the tactics and automation in our game then it doesn't matter what players we sign. I'm pretty certain any top player in Europe would struggle to inprove us as we havent got the platform or structure to help them, likewise if our underperforming players went to any of the top clubs they would perform much better.

Relying on Martial & Rashford is dumb. Neither are ready yet so 100% agree with the OP. Yes we need to buy smart and I hope we start with Sancho.

Do we need wingers, what if we go 3 at the back, we basically have 6 forwards at the club that all better suited to a central attacking role but instead we are trying to put square pegs in round holes.

If we was to sign Sancho he could easily play as a second striker or if we were to sign Joao Felix it would be a beneficial formation as it allows him to play a central striking role rather than messing him up by sticking him out wide and doesn't put all the burden on him as a sole central striker at such a big club for a youngster.

In what scenario do you imagine Sancho coming here?

I’m genuinely curious.

I would like to sign two wingers rather than two wide forwards. We particularly need different options for different matches in the forward positions.

I haven't been following the latest gossip. Has something happened recently making this a no go?
Was hoping United would throw £80-£90 million and add a lucrative pay package for him.

If we are to be realistic, Martial just signed a new contract and Lingard won't leave. So we've got two wingers at the club... Although they are shit, but we still have them. And I don't see us getting two new wingers since our entire team needs an overhaul. I would go for a winger who could play anywhere in attack since we've noticed that our strikers are shit as well. Pepe is a cheaper alternative. He's not too high profile but has potential to be a top top player. He plays mainly on the RW which is were we need the most and can operate a two striker system with Rashford when needed. If we had an option to buy another winger, I would almost consider getting Joao Felix... and play a 4-2-3-1.... Felix plays behind Rashford or our new striker, Pepe on the RW and Martial on the LW and two stable box to box midfielders.... Neves and Ndombele/ Fernandes would be my choice

Sanchez was meant to be the superstar in the team along with Pogba.

Both might be playing else where next season so they will be a few slots open for a world class player.

With Lukaku, Rash, Martial and Greenwood up front I’d say the wide positions are where most money should be spent.

*Once the defence is upgraded a bit.

How can people be losing their minds. He hasn’t even had one off season to build a squad. Yes atm we are in shambles, a 6-8 place team that none of us are happy with. He needs time, making the top 4 is key to bringing in the types of players we need.

It will take time, I expect at least 2 full seasons, look at Liverpool it took a couple years.

I can't recall any truly great teams that didn't have at least one exceptional wide player...

City now - Sterling and Sane
Real Madrid - Ronaldo
Barcelona - Messi
Bayern - Robben and Ribery
03 Arsenal - Pires and Ljungberg
05 Chelsea - Robben and Duff
More recent Chelsea - Hazard
99 Man Utd - Beckham and Giggs
08 Man Utd - Ronaldo

Just another area where we've dropped the ball in over the past 10 years

I think we need 3, to be honest. Look at what we have now:
Lingard - Shit and worse out wide.
Mata - Finished, slow, worse out wide.
Sanchez - Finished, worse out wide.
Rashford - Not a winger, bad decision maker, can do a job but we should aim higher.
Martial - Doesn't look to be developing, lazy, not creative.
Chong - Not ready.

2 new RW's and 1 LW, I'd say.

People need to have realistic targets.

Chiesa and Lozano/Pepe would be the two for me.

Gettable, young, talented and proper wingers.

Lingard won't leave. So we've got two wingers at the club
Lingard is not a winger. He has never played as a wide player for us. Just because the TV broadcaster shows him wide right, it doesn't mean he plays there. He's always played centrally for us. The only wingers we have are Martial and Sanchez .

My choice still remains Chiesa and Ounas combing the wings on either side of João Felix. Our attack needs a total revamp. They are also no slouch when it comes to putting in work rates. I think we need to start considering that in every player we want to bring in. Their work rates need to be taken in cognizance. No room for lazy players, regardless of their position, in this new football age we are.

Yes, he's NOT a winger and Mata isn't either. However, he's not always played centrally for us. A winger is not just someone who hugs the touchline and crosses the ball (atleast not in modern football). Lingard supposedly plays on the wings and drifts inwards. He does not have the discipline to operate on the RW which is why our right side does not attack especially when you have Young operating behind you and it is also why our midfield gets so congested.

I would say out of all the attackers we have at the moment, only Martial can be classified as a winger.
Rashford cannot really dribble consistently
Sanchez drifts inwards and congests Pogba's space
Lingard also does not operate on the wing and drifts inwards
Mata is the same as Lingard

But that does not imply as wingers because Ole and the board will look at the team and count all 5 of those who can play on the wing as therefore are wingers

Ye. We’re average, he’s not.

We can’t gaurantee champions league. Any dip in form would likely spell the end of his Euro 2020 hopes. Our only other world class outfield player is on his way out.

This is not a stage for a lad like Sanchez to come to the club.

The best hope is that he remains at Dortmund another year. We invest in the summer, achieve top 4 and go back in for him next year.

I really love this video clip of Chiesa below. Apart from his obvious lethal shots, quality movement, pace and overall technical skills, what I love most is his passion on the pitch. He felt like almost crying everytime he or his teammates failed to increase their goal tally after each save by the opposition's keeper. Compared to our players who would have been smiling for at least working the goalkeeper and showing their talent. His work rates looks good too, as seen by the way he often hounds the opponent. This is what I want in our attackers.

Sancho is a must for me another player i wouldn't mind coming in is Tadic, he's had a very good season at Ajax sure i saw a stat he has 34 goals and 19 assists this season, can play left or on the right very creative just what we need probably not that expensive, already got premier league experience, yes he's 30 but i don't think that's a issue, gives the likes of Chong and Greenwood opportunity and time to be blended into the team.
