Pretty straight forward effort here to affect the commercial side of the club that's so dear to Ed Woodward in an effort to have big changes on the football side.

http://global.espn.com/football/blo...counts-in-protest-against-old-trafford-bosses

I've long been appreciative of the ability for social media to affect change. Here we have a better opportunity to do so than walking out of a stadium or signing any petition. Millions of followers translates very directly to financial muscle. Some of you may not feel so but it will make Woodward's head turn for sure.

So let's do it cafe... Instagram, Twitter, Facebook...support the club and unfollow Man United. Add the hashtag to any related posts you make.

Edit:
Also unfollow the players, particularly those with their 'superstar' status and brands.

I don't think anything like this ever works.
Somebody mentioned a walkout at Cardiff... It'll never happen, but I agree with what people are trying to do here.

Woodward gets no stick, the players get no stick, not when it matters, on the pitch.
Problem is, we've already sold out of season tickets for next season (according to an email), so they don't care...

At most it will be a few drops in the ocean. Can't see Woody or the owners losing any sleep over it.

Brands hate bad press. It won't cause any radical changes but if it pisses off that cnut Woodward i can get behind it.

Social media had pretty notable influence in Brexit and electing Trump. I actually don't think we need much more of an example to show it can work. Big reason is unfollowing like this or some related post is much easier for a regular fan that loves the club to do than walking out of the stadium. It's easy, painless for the fan but does have consequences on a large commercial scale.

I went to go do it then found out I don't follow them already, because all they post is shit.

I do actually like this idea though in comparison to the previous green and gold/walkout methods. If the movement actually gains traction it could take a million away from the club's official follower count and as irrelevant as that seems to many people, that actually is a good way of giving the higher ups the virtual finger with little effort required, because they really do care about this shit...

If this spreads,it will at the very least piss off some sponsors and make our brand look bad. The least we can do. Hit the board where it hurts.....in the pocket via the public image

Losing to Comeback Winning!
This reminds me of that meme.
:smirk:You can't unfollow if you don't have FB, Twitter and Instagram.
I think I'm using that meme wrong.

Anyway, I don't have any account in any of those three. Can't follow, can't unfollow.
Only checking the Twitter for news, thankfully it's open to public, no need to make self-account nor must follow to see the news.

Not sure if the "movement" will work. But yeah, just try to those who want to, who knows it'll work. If not, then at least the fans tried something.

This will grow legs online. And it will effect commercials. Could be the start of something IMO.
Fully agree. Thing is that while it in itself may not be hugely effective it can become part of a much wider action.
As I keep mentioning, every journey starts with ONE STEP.

I already unfollowed all the players after the Everton game. If I'd have seen anyone laughing, dabbing having a good time after that game it would have cost me a new phone. I honestly don't need to see these pricks outside of match day, 90 minutes a week is enough at the moment.

I hate United Twitter account anyway. They post many cringeworthy things all honestly.

Forgot about that. I need to add that to the OP because it's equally if not more important. Especially for these 'young studz' like Jlingz and Rashford whatever his brand is...they have the platform because of the fans. When their glamor lives take precedent over and commitment away from the game they need to also give up their superstardom dreams. Social media will hurt their weak millennial shit attitudes I hope.

It's working. I can only imagine how will Ed feel tomorrow during the conference call with Glazers having to explain himself why we lost 10k Twitter followers.

Better than nothing, I’ve unfollowed. If I was going to the Cardiff game I’d walk out before the end as well, we have to start making noises. No doubt I will get abuse now but I want to see us getting back to being a well run football club and challenging for titles, better than nothing, and there’s no doubt we’re a cash cow for the glazers and the board and decision making has been abysmal over the last decade.

Not that I think this will do much, but if people want to spread it the most important thing is to use the hashtag to get it trending, even if you don't actually follow the accounts. Would be cool if it kicked off just to see if it has any effect at all. Add the hashtag #WoodwardOut as well because, seriously, feck that guy.

Losing twice in half a day what the account gains in a full day...that's not bad at all.

If it hits that 1 million mark it's going to make a dent. Viewers and followers translate to literal dollars. Like it or not, that's the way things work now. We have a real chance here to make a difference with little effort

The fan base and follower count is far too large for this to work in my opinion but fair dues if it does anything.

I am not on social media, but I support this.

How times have changed, hoarse before the game having murdered "We will follow United....." when we were shite, and I mean proper shite.
Supporting also means lodging your protest when things are being clearly mismanaged.

To be honest it makes more sense than organising a walkout at the ground. Likes and shares are the only language Woodward understands.
