So.. Here we are.

The 2019 Player Awards will be live on MUTV from 18:30, 9th of May.

Does anyone intend on watching? Does anything think they can stomach it?

Small part of me hopes to see Ole stand up and slate them, topping it off with a calculated mic drop.. but that is unlikely.

In reality, we'll probably get an evening of smiles with one or two admissions that the season is 'not what we hoped for'.

Oh and we can probably all agree Lindelof has POTY won? Or should I add a poll?

Should be genuinely ashamed of themselves. Should ask for no player award and go support the younger players.

No, I am tired of same phrases like "We will back stronger next year", "The future is bright", "The fans always behind us" etc etc.

Only first team players I currently like are Lindelof, Shaw and McTominay.

Leave the awards from the PL2 team, academy and ladies only. The main team should be cleaning the streets of Manchester and donating to good causes.

Are they actually still going to have the awards? I thought Ole would have a bit more sense than that.

I would agree, although that video circulating of Shaw strolling back and strolling within yards of a Huddersfield player with the ball made my blood boil. Granted he's not been like that throughout the season, but he looks to have joined the rest of them in the 'utter disgrace' camp.

Pogba:

“I think Luke Shaw has been great. He got the opportunity to play and the manager has given him a lot of confidence. Victor Lindelof, as well, has played great and shown his qualities and Marcus Rashford’s performances have been great as well, so I would say those three.”

Herrera:

“I voted for Victor Lindelof. In a season where all of us had ups and downs, I think Victor has been the most consistent player. I think he deserves it and I think he can become one of the best defenders in the world and can be an important player for Manchester United in the next few years. So he deserves it.”

Mata:

“I’m not going to tell you who I voted for but I will tell you about the players that, from my point of view, can win it. I think Victor Lindelof has had very good spells during the season. He’s shown he’s a mature player, he has confidence on the ball and he can defend well and he’s a great guy. I’d be happy for him if he wins it. Luke Shaw, as well, has had some good months during the season and I’m really happy for him after the injury he had. It’s not easy to come back and perform at that level, so Luke is another option [to win it]. Paul Pogba has been playing very well for some months, especially after Ole took over, so he’s another name that could win. Let’s see what happens but I think we would swap winning the Player of the Year award for us all to win the Premier League. Whoever wins it, I’ll be very happy for them.”

Matic:

“It’s difficult to say because the season wasn’t great for us. I think David De Gea has again had some great games and great saves during the season and, if I had to choose one, it’s him. Every keeper can make mistakes during the season and the problem is people always remember the last game when that happened. We cannot forget how many points he has saved us this season. He’s an amazing goalkeeper, top class, one of the best in the world.”

Lindelof:

“It’s a difficult question. If you look right from the start of the season to now, then Luke Shaw has been performing well throughout the season. Then there are other players, such as Paul Pogba, for example, who has played well and scored goals, and also Marcus Rashford has performed very well. If I had to pick one, I think I’d go for Luke because he’s been great for the whole season.”

Grant:

"That’s a difficult one. Paul Pogba's goals in the second half of the season propelled us up the league. Marcus Rashford, for me, has been outstanding all season. If I look at it from a defensive aspect all of the guys have been top, but I think Victor Lindelof has stood out in terms of his levels of consistency and the way he’s grown as the season has progressed. So, of course, being a biased goalkeeper [smiles] then I think Victor would get the nod for me.“

Lindelof for me.

One of the few signings from the post-SAF era to fully cement himself as a first-team player.

Cancel it, none of them have consistently performed like Manchester United players. Send them a message how can they be get an award for much of the dross they have served up this season?
Keep the women's, youth and perhaps goal of the season award but the main one shouldn't be awarded this season. Might actually send out a message that standards are too low. Obviously if the performance when Ole first came in had continued, fine go ahead with it but not when we've just drawn to Huddersfield to round off a poor run of results. I expect sponsorship etc is one of the reasons it hasn't been cancelled and of course who has the guts to cancel it.
But we wont we will carry on as normal!

Even Pogba's comments about Luke Shaw read as a bit of a dig at Mourinho - implying that Ole is the one to give him confidence and the opportunity to play. But if memory serves Mourinho had already brought Shaw back into the fold , and he was already looking confident and playing well. I remember seeing Shaw interviewed after a game earlier in the season and he was absolutely waxing lyrical about Mourinho and implying that he'd been right to handle him in the way that he had.

I know what he means, but the fact that we were 6th after the first half of the season and we're still 6th now makes this comment laughable.

feck this shit, they should just cancel it.
Presume the women's team will be there, so why should their big night be ruined because the men are rubbish? Maybe it will show them about attitude and team spirit and how to keep themselves fit.

Probably the only thing these players will turn up for since the PSG game. PSG should of highlighted the potential but it gave the reverse effect.

I don't really see anyone other than Lindelof and McTominay are qualified for this award tbh

I’ll retract that and say this instead: do the women’s award show and ban the men’s team ;)

Yep. That would have hit home. I will not watch as it is boring as hell. Just people saying the same thing over and over again. They repeat it again anyway. So if anything funny happens I will see it anyway. Sure I can find something more useful to do.

Any of our players winning any sort of award this year would be like awarding Saudi Arabia a Nobel Peace Prize.

If they had any decency about them, they'd pay for the club staff (cleaners, groundskeepers, admin etc) to go for a great day and night out while they stayed behind to answer phones, clean jacks and vacuum floors.

Except McTominay actually, he can go on the day out. Or just give him the award.

Marcus Rashford. Outstanding all season. Really? Not trying to slate Rashy off but outstanding really? He has only been outstanding durnig Ole first 2/3 mths in charge, and realy really really poor the rest of the seaon. If Lee Grant really does think that then the whole of the Liverpool, City, Spurs team must be superhuman. Just shows how far this team has fallen. No offence to Calum Wilson but he does have more goals and assiss too.

If i was a player/management i would feel truly embarassed tonight and i bloody hope so.

As for groundsman who have done an awesome job this year, then i bloody hope they get lots of recognition and get an award for their services.

All the rest on at the ticket office, kiosks and turnstiles can foxtrot oscar with the players.

Basically this event should have been binned and a brown envelove to the groundsman would have been the best for this season.

Rashford has been overrated from the first minute he stepped on the pitch as a first team player for us.

They should give the POTY to Lindelof and go home. Should take all of 5 minutes.

Matic picking De Gea. He's so slow he's actually travelled back in time to 2018.
