Newcastle will easily sell him. Which sort of helps I guess.

The way to sell United to players is the chance to take us back to the top. Nothing clubs like Chelsea and City managed to attract players so United will also.

‘Even though they cannot offer Champions League football’ when has that ever stopped us signing big names before?

If there is even the sniff of a chance then this needs to be the total focus for the next week or so. He's a player you could build the next decade around and ticks so many boxes for what we're lacking.
More likely Raiola using the Media to get Barcelona to agree tohis and the players ridiculous wage demands. Rumour was that Woodward has already offered €65M to Ajax and the player €240K per week on a 5 +1 year contract with Raiola wanting 20% commission or €13M for procuring the deal. The sums are astronomical for a 19 year old which would mean if he signed for a United he would already be on higher wages than VVD.
Maybe Raiola will tell De Ligt to move to United in order to sweeten the Pogba exit strategy to Real Madrid which he also wants 20% on €150 fee.

Mr Raiola will bank €43M this Summer, not bad for someone who can't work for 3 months!

Except what matters most is where De Ligt wants to go, not where Raiola wants him to go. Sure Raiola can try to influence De Ligt's decision but he doesn't have final say.

Great, looks like we really are signing bang average players just because they are english...
People said the same of Carrick, lord knows how many signings we would have had dismissed under SAF. We’ve tried the galactico method (second highest spenders just behind city in the last five years) and we’ve ended up with mercenaries, so why don’t we give this a go before everyone loses their shit, I mean we finished fecking 6th this year, maybe it’s time for a change?

Edwin's been advising the lad.

No I'm refusing to get too excited because we all know Raiola's game.

But how amazing would it be if we could convince him to join us with the promise we'll sell him to Barca in 5 years for 300m.

No stop it, it's not happening guys.

Not amazing at all. You move heaven and Earth to get a fella like De Ligt because he's a player you build a long term team about.

Even the idea that he was coming here as a stop gap would negate half the reason for signing him. If De Ligt comes, he needs to come with total buy in to United and everything that's great about the club.

I swear some of ye feckers get off on sending your wives out to be fecked by bigger and better men.

Exactly that but if your a 19 year old being offered double the wages at one club from another you probably take the money, Barca like to pay defenders much lower wages than their attackers. Messi probably on more than the whole defence and Goal keepers in the squad!

Messi won't be around in the long term, and if they se De Ligt as some future Puyol, they will probably give him what he wants in time.

Can not see it, players under 21 in Spain and Italy are treated much differently. They will expect that the draw of Barcelona should be enough to entice him and start his wages on €140k per week, Piquet is only on €250k per week and he has won everything in the game. Samuel Umtitti was complaining about wages for defenders so they dropped him and bought the Seville CB. Barcelona dispise Raiola after all of the Zlatan dealings and it's highly likely this deal will not get done, like I said very much a sweetener for Pogba leaving!

That's how Raiola works and his players generally do as he tells them.

Players hire Raiola for a reason and its not to ignore his way of working.

It would be a ‘Sanchez’ level mistake for Spurs. They have some very good players on relatively low contracts he would completely crush their wage structure.
Madrid trying to smoke us out and accelerate the Pogba deal, Woodward is stupid enough to fall for it.
  • Starts off as a 1 year £10M loan deal and Madrid will pay half his wages
  • To Levy has knocked down the loan fee to Zero and Madrid will pay 2/3 of his wages so £200k per week (meaning a cost of £10m per year)
  • To Ed Woodward is now interested in the loan deal of £15M per year and United will pay 2/3 of his wage bill (£35M per year)
  • To finally Woodward will pay £70M transfer fee and a 4+1 contract on £500k per week (Total cost £195M)
  • Ed decides Pogba can leave for just a £30M balance because Bale is worth more commercially !!!!

James I can handle but I don't want an influx of nobodies joining us, yeah we screwed the pooch with some big names but I don't believe the crap that we should avoid them, just buy better, we need a world class player or three if we have any aspirations plus the only two we already have look to be wanting out.

Hoping this is shit, but no doubt someone will correct me and tell how a midfield of McTominay and Longstaff will be great...

Aye. Mino would probably encourage him to United as he'd see us as a club that De Ligt can move on from to Barca or Real, making them both even richer.
He would also be a guaranteed starter at United. Wouldn't rule out City though, they are in the mix

McTominay no, but actually Longstaff looks like a really good prospect.

He is getting old and has to resort to fouls more and more
I know, it was a bit tongue in cheek.
He still is one of the best DMs and I doubt that Barca wants to replace him. He is their metronome, an Rodri is too similar to play both.

Im all for getting lots of kids in that have shown real talent and who could potentially make the step (some may even become world class), but to do this we need some mainstay leaders in the squad to guide them.

People like Keane who made sure they were doing the right things and who wouldnt let standards slip! Who have we got now to do that? Who are out senior leaders in the squad? Pogba fecking lukaku?

Its a very dangerous policy without I think.

Let's just go full brexit. James, Longstaff, Rice, Maguire, AWB.

Imagine the hunger the passion and how grateful they would be to come here
