Fecking mes que un cnuts, they pay fecking wanks millions but when we try to beat them to one player by paying more than them, it's Messi or money
God I really hope we get De Ligt.
The first indication that we are close to signing him will come from Barca with their propaganda machines spewing out bullshite like he's not good enough or something like that

Another Dutch media headline: https://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=352340 (it's in Dutch again).

It boils down to Barcelona has laid down the two options for De Ligt. Go to United and chose money or go to Barcelona and chose Messi. It's like they're trying to make me choke on my own vomit. Please don't go to Barcelona, Matthijs (as if he's reading this). It does also say that the chances of him signing with Barca are becoming smaller, because they can't match the alleged salary of 13 million a year United are offering.

The source for this is the Spanish paper Sport.
So basically its Pep or money right!!!
Oops i mean Messi or Money

Rewind 10-15 years and there's no way we don't sign this player! Today I'm just not convinced! The sort of signing that will get us back on track!

I think Barca's pull isn't what it was, even if it's still much more than us. Messi is older, they're CL pedigree has gone from being Gods to just one of the better teams, they're cooking their books (for sure) and he's a pale lad which means he'll have to shell out a load on sunscreen if he's living on the Med. It's all coming together for Woodward's biggest blockbuster deal yet.

Lots of great players turn to shit when they join United. Di Maria went from MOTM in the CL final to benched for Ashley Young. Sanchez went from 35 goals in a season at Arsenal to benched for Jesse Lingard. Fred went from highly sought after Brazilian international to benched for Scott McTominay. I think it's fair to say those 3 would have chosen PSG/City/City had it not been for us offering more money.

We've got excited about lots of signings over the last few years, most of whom have underperformed, or just fallen off completely. Even people like Pogba and Martial, who are classed by the fanbase as "hits" have underperformed. Depay was supposed to be our new Ronaldo, Scheiderlin was supposed to be our captain by now, Bailly was supposed to be our new rock at the back, Mkhi was supposed to be an assist machine, shit just never seems to work out for us in the transfer market these days. We all thought we'd hit the jackpot in the 2014, 2015 & 2016 transfer windows, all 3 looked exciting on paper, all 3 ended in failure.
I understand the pessimism, but I don’t understand what your recommended action would be. Stop buying talented players? Stop buying the wrong players? Easier said than done. Even SAF had his duds, but when he wanted a player, he pulled out all the stops and “overpaid” and ended up with the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio, etc.

I guess I’d rather try and fail than not try at all. Zlatan worked out while he was here, Herrera, Mata IMHO.

It’s the wages we’ve offered... Apparently more than the £250k per week that was originally reported.

At those wages, De Ligt would be the 3rd highest wage earner in the squad behind Messi and Suarez, but ahead of Pique, Busquets, Coutinho and Dembele. Plus income taxes are much higher in Spain.... a lot of unhappy players on that squad if a 19 yr old comes in and makes that kind of scratch.

This transfer would remind me of the good old days when we bought Rooney. He is already world class at his age.

But i cant get excited about a Sport article. Need a reliable English/Dutch journo or Di Marzio on it, otherwise it feels like he waits for Barca to up their offer.

What, you can’t wait another 12 months to see the real thing?
It may go viral, he'll see it and want to join us then!

People make a big deal of the CL -- and it is! But let's not forget at Man United you have the chance to win the English Premier League! Massive trophy in world football terms.

We need to do what we can and spunk 9 figures on this lad. He could easily slot into the side for 15 years and his fee at this point would be a distant memory.

Let's not kid ourselves. Even if we signed him he'd probably serve one contract term before moving on to Spain.

I cant see why he wouldn't Sign for United .
He can come here and be part of the reemergence of a super power of English football, he will become a fan favourite while doing his reputation no harm and all the while getting paid Trucks full of cash . He would be an instant starter and if he doesn't like it he can move to Spain in 2 years . Big money made .

Add to that Raoila the Fat Basterd will be looking for the most money he can get his sweaty cocktail little sausage fingers on .
No champions league next year but I reckon he could get over that .
Who knows hopefully .

As fecking phenomenal a signing as this would be, it would take a significant chunk of our budget. While our defence is shite, our attack is shite too and that's probably a more pressing concern.

We've apparently 'significantly' improved our offer from €14m a year to him according to Catalan daily Sport.es

I'm sure Raiola will get around £10m too..
Doesn't Sport tend to make stuff up?

Yeah that was a shocking moment for me personally didn’t think Pogba would come. Thought he was too good, he has been your best player since he came to United and you guys haven’t won nowt noteworthy so when he leaves I’ll still like him so there’s that

Yet we’ve still won two more trophies than Liverpool.

Actually, the transfer fee isn't much of a concern here. He's expected to go for like 60-70 million euros, Ajax aren't making this hard for anyone. It's a matter of who will De Ligt choose, because nearly every European elite club would love to sign him.

They're happy with that amount despite most likely being aware they are getting fleeced?

I think it's something about them not wanting to stand in the way of the player and supporting his inevitable move. It's maybe a bit weird but iirc, Ajax are pretty rich.

And it really doesn’t matter. This kid is a generational talent. Do what it takes.
