YouTube impressionist: this is my one and only football tweet ever and there's no reason I would know this, but De Ligt is on

Caf: OMFG!ITSON!WAAAA!COCKSOUT!feckOFFBARCA!RIO!RIO!RIO!

Someone will tweet something in the next 24 hours to bring the cycle back around again. At least its more entertaining than actually watching us play...
It’s 100 times more fun having a bit of fun, you know...

Sky Sports news is only interested in drumming up customers for SKYbet during the transfer window.

They also said De Ligt had already signed for Barca 2 weeks ago.

And have flipped flopped every day since then.

Spoofex reaction is that it's over?

Well it's over then. Harry Maguire anyone?

It's on until the ink is dry.

Let me just remind you all of something:

TBF that's the past, things change. Not saying I believe the Sky Sports announcement, mind. This might still happen, my stance though hasn't changed since the beginning that it most likely won't.

It’s funny in a strange way how satisfied they feel about negative transfer news as it relates to the club.

Pfffft, I don’t give a feck what Sky Sports and Guillem Balague say.

This is still fecking on and only the most loyal of muppets will be rewarded.
I feel like you should lead us to Muppetahlla, to victory, Immortality and the signing of DeLigt. It’s not over till the yellow banner says it’s over and when it’s all Said and done the muppets will dine on boar and meed surrounded by fellow muppets and their ancestors from previous summers from the Pogba, Gaitan, Lucas, Hazard, Sneijder clans.

It's not being satisfied at negative news. I'd love us to sign de Ligt. It's laughing at people blindly believing anonymous reddit posters when they shout from the rooftops about how unreliable journalists are. They'd rather believe an unknown nobody on the Internet than journalists. It's ridiculous.

To be fair, they were warned.

Well he obviously never knew anything at all. At the very least, De Ligt signing for Barcelona will probably see any and all mentions of "Reddit ITKs" banned from the forum, which can only be a good thing.

Too right. This thread has been a right laugh, even if it doesn't happen.

It just needs less of the Sky Source doom mongering, and more about De Ligt's Instagram activity. He must've liked some United related content today...?
I have not got any social media except for twitter to follow football and MMA journalists so I wouldn’t know.

@Adnan would be the one to ask. Any outdates and he’ll be one of the first to bring it that’s for sure.

I'm not going to believe anything from the English media. They have not yet found out whether we have any interest in Longstaff or not. But here they are joining the bandwagon on a deal that they had no clue about just a few hours back.

Doesn't mean we're not going to sign him though. I remember some English journos saying we weren't going to sign Di Maria. If I remember correctly Jamie Jackson was saying he wasn't coming when Di Maria was on his way to Carrington for a medical. Ogden said we weren't in for Herrera then a few hours later a transfer was agreed.
How is it a briefing  Stone literally says he hasn't been told anything!
Sammy Lee at it

United are linked with loads of players. Why come out and deny this one? Hmmm. Because we genuinely won’t get him, worried about the figures being associated and impact that could have on future deals or so, when we sign him, we can sell it as an even bigger coup? It’s suspicious.
They probably see the fan hysteria and know that the further it goes, the bigger the backlash when he goes to Barca. Maybe as well put a lid on it.

It wouldn't be a fun ride without the lows to compliment the highs. I had a run ride but it looks less likely than we all hoped.

Simon Stone obviously using his own guesswork but he's experienced enough to read transfers and if his own feeling points to Barcelona it's probably more credible than what we've seen thus far.

Anyway whether it's on or off, I just hope we resolve it before the end of the month. We've got too much transfer business to do outside of this alone.

They'll never be hung up
Hung up on 'Sky Sports Sources'

DeLigt to Maguire  how quickly ambitions change from rebuilding on a level to challenge the best in Europe to squabbling with Wolves and Everton for 6th place

I don't think Hayward is biased, he ghost wrote Ferguson's second book (which is terrible) and I've seen him be positive about United in the past. He's not exactly wrong, De Ligt would be a brilliant signing for us but if he did come here (I don't think he will) then the main reason he would have done so is money and I'm not sure that that needs to be the priority for a 19 year old who is as good as him and will likely make a massive amount over his career regardless of where he goes.
I’m not sure I entirely agree with this logic.

If he agrees to sign for United then he’s obviously not that bothered about Barcelona.

If anything it’s now a worse signing for Barcelona if he’s only joining them because they matched United’s offer.

I think far too much is being made about the financial element. A player is likely going to take an offer where they get £100k a week more.

It’s never likely the best club or nothing. If it was they’d just take the first offer and be happy to sign. Money is clearly always a significant factor. Do Barcelona say to Messi there’s no point in paying you £1m per week as that means you’re only staying for the money and not the love of the club.

I found this pic of De Ligt on the aforementioned Reddit thread so no idea how genuine it is and apologies if it's already been posted. Apparently it was taken by De Ligt's friend and it translates as "Matthijs is going to go". Even if it's really from his friend, he could just be trolling:
